They truly prioritize proper form and injury prevention. What really sets this gym apart is the supportive environment. Both the trainers and members are genuinely encouraging, creating a positive and motivating atmosphere. It truly feels like a family--people check in on you, celebrate your progress, and even notice when you've missed a class. On top of that, the gym offers fun challenges at various times during the year that help keep us motivated and on track, as well as occasional fundraising events that bring everyone together for a great cause. I'm so grateful to be part of such a caring, uplifting, and inspiring community. The 4:30 am class is the best!!

Even though I'm in my mid 60's, I can do the workouts and feel supported if a modification is needed. For women over 40 who need to support bone health, these workouts give plenty of workouts to lift heavy with supervision. Great place, great coaches, a place to make deep connections, and where one can have fun too!

If you have one life to live, you must include One Life Fitness in Hampton, VA!…read moreYour journey begins when you enter the door and are greeted by the warm, affable Teresa at the check-in desk. She is always helpful and friendly. The facility is super clean and, if you like aquatic classes, you want to catch any facilitated by Dionne and Amanda. If you are a " land lover", there are a plethora of serious classes from which to choose. This barely scratches the surface on what this facility has to offer. I could go on, but it would sound schmaltzy.

I have been a member of this gym and have always come to work out, mind my own business, and leave…read more Unfortunately, my experience on June 30 completely changed how I feel about this facility. Around 8:30 PM, the General Manager, Yanni, approached me on the gym floor while I was working out instead of asking to speak with me privately. In front of other members, he told me that my body was making people uncomfortable and claimed he had received several complaints about the way I dress. I repeatedly asked what I was wearing that violated the dress code since I was wearing standard gym attire--a workout shirt and athletic shorts. He could not identify a specific clothing violation. Instead, he repeatedly compared my body to "more shapely women" who supposedly "cover themselves more" and threatened multiple times to cancel my membership simply because I was asking questions and trying to understand the alleged complaints. When I asked to review the dress code, the posted policy simply stated that proper gym attire and closed-toe shoes are required. There was nothing stating that my clothing violated any policy. What upset me most was not being approached, but how I was approached. This conversation should have taken place privately, not on the gym floor where other members could overhear it. I left feeling embarrassed, body shamed, singled out, and humiliated. I wear athletic clothing designed for the gym, just like countless other women. I cannot change my natural body shape, nor should anyone be made to feel uncomfortable simply because they have a curvier figure. Clothing naturally shifts during exercise, especially on different body types, and that should not be mistaken for inappropriate behavior. After this incident, several members and trainers approached me and expressed that they felt the situation was handled unfairly. Some even shared their own negative experiences with management. Every member deserves to be treated with dignity, respect, and consistency. I hope management seriously reviews how situations like this are handled in the future because no one should leave the gym feeling publicly humiliated for simply existing in their own body.

I could tell I was getting depressed. So I started scouting out for a new box to go to. With the help of a friend I came across CrossFit Hampton Roads. I asked the owner for a tour when no one was really around. I was having major anxiety starting up again. Not exactly sure why, but I know my physical appearance plays a large role with it. Lindsay was accommodating immediately. I loved what I saw. The feeling I got when I walked back into the door was awesome. I knew right away that this is what my life needed. I knew I would hopefully get in by March after Spring break. Well it turns out I went to my first WOD at the end of April. I felt like I fit in immediately. I was not too nervous. It was like riding a bike again. I have chosen to scale as much as possible until I get get back to where I was. I did not feel ashamed to scale either. The location is great as well. I love that there is a lot of female coaches. Lindsay has already had two eating challenges/activities. I participated in the first which was the 800g challenge. I throughly enjoyed that! I love that she has things other than workouts. CrossFit is a wonderful atmosphere with wonderful people. You become friends then family. Overall a wonderful location, and I love what I see. I can not sit to get stronger mentally and physically.

I have been doing CF since 2008 and I travel frequently and get to visit several boxes around the country and CF Hampton Roads made me feel at home as soon as I walked in the door. The coach made sure to that everybody introduced themselves to me since we had a smaller class for the day. The facility is large and clean with plenty of equipment (rowers, airdynes, kettlebells of various weights, etc). The coaches are very knowledgeable and understand the reasoning for their programming. I asked several questions on their OPT-style of programming and was very impressed on the answers. They understand energy systems training, which few gyms I've visited truly understand. The coaches also provide informed warm ups and mobility geared towards the WOD--nothing extraneous. If you're in the Hampton Roads area, definitely stop by for a WOD!

They are OVER sold and UNDER staffed. The coaching ratio was always atrocious, way outside of usag suggested guidelines. Seems to me they would be in violation of their 501 (c) 3 bylaws. By FORCING team parents to work excessive bingo's or pay a ridiculous rate for a sub, and the owner outwardly threatening to take it out on your kids. If you do not comply. If the IRS would only look into this... With little to no payoff, the distribution of funds is completely unequal with the majority of the budget allotted for only TOPS girls and elite hopefuls. The total budget in itself is a complete joke. I can not even count how many amazing gymnasts and families have left over the last 7 years, So many. If your child is one of the chosen few, they will use and abuse her until she absolutely burned out and fully broken. College is certainly NOT a promise either no matter what you accomplish or do for the "gym". Some have even said they were completely left to their own devices, after spending years training there. That not 1 finger was lifted to get them a scholarship or even a offer. And some of the athletes have been too broken to ever finish college on the gymnastics team. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE!
