First time trying this class and it was so intense and great. The gym is super cool with all equipments. This is a circuit based class with a mix of treadmill, boxing and weights.

As a proud member of the ROC SQUAD, I am very late posting this review. I've been working out at BodyRoc since 2017, and loving it every step of the way. The trainers and their energy is what pulls you in, and the challenging but fun workouts that yield results is what keeps you. BodyRoc is truly a community, the camaraderie goes a long way in helping you reach your goals. You will always have someone saying hi to you, and the trainers are there to encourage you and make things fun along the way. The workout consists of strength, running and boxing. With the new location in West Hartford, the classes have become much more varied with new equipment like rowing machines, squat rack and TRX. The workouts are tough, but stick with it and you'll fall in love with the feeling of pushing yourself. If high energy, fun vibes, with a work hard mindset is what you are looking for, then BodyRoc is the place for you!

Where do I begin... Bodyroc has changed my life!! I've never had a good relationship with working out until I started coming here. I used to hate going to the gym and would come up with every excuse in the book not to go. Now I get upset if I miss even a day at BodyRoc! The trainers here truly want to see you prosper. The music and energy in "the lab" just can't be replicated. When I joined back in February I was the heaviest I've been my whole life. Within the first 2 1/2 months I lost 20 lbs and I've never felt better! Highly recommend this place to EVERYONE. There's no place like BodyRoc!

Remember playing Super Mario Brothers? When Mario or Luigi got a ONE-UP they went from puny weaklings to pumped up Adonis'. Consider BodyRoc the ONE-UP to your mundane, puny workout! They absolutely have a wonderful concept going here and I'm only sad that their not closer to New Haven. The workouts are High-intensity interval training (HIIT) style; but what really gets you moving is the pairing of uptempo tunes with a nightclub-ish vibe (DJ included, ONE-UP). I had the pleasure of experiencing the 'BodyRoc' class, a 50 minute workout geared at fat-burning and muscle building. Throughout the class every single muscle in my body was engaged, truly a whole body workout. We started out with cardio, sprint and jogging intervals on their manual treadmill (self-powered, meaning you have to work for EVERY stride, ONE-UP). Next we moved into the strength training series featuring a combination of grueling weighted and floor exercises. I'm bored easily and believe me there was no chance of that here. Shaun, the owner and instructor, wasn't letting anyone slack! He was constantly moving around the class, motivating you to give your all, correcting posture, and adding lighthearted banter to the mix. The energy in the room was awesome, even though we were all pushing to the limit, the group dynamic keeps you accountable (no half-steppin' over here, ONE-UP). The boxing portion of the workout was easily my favorite. Using a heavy pushing bag and boxing gloves we jabbed, upper cut and crossed our hearts out in sync with the music. Talk about therapy! Pent-up energy released all while rocking out to your favorite beats (grooving and working that body, ONE-UP). Seriously, I have tried many a gym and workout regimen in my day and this one is like no other in the area. I was so pleased, that I signed up for another class even though I live 40 minutes away. Don't even give it a second thought! The ONE-UP experience is worth it!

The staff is friendly but not knowledgeable on what a guest pass includes. I spoke to three different employees who told me three different things so that's been really confusing. They put together a sick playlist though, lol. The equipment is new to me and honestly I removed a star solely because of the hip adduction and abduction machines. The seats move while you're doing your reps and it's probably one of the worst things I've ever experienced. I watched the instructional video and all to make sure my form was correct and I still ended up messing up my back somehow. I do really like the post-workout shake bar, though. I tried the coffee and chocolate shake and it was pretty good. The gym and locker room are really clean. I love the section they have upstairs if you'd like a bit more privacy during your workout. All in all, while this gym is really nice and I think the amenities are beautiful, I don't feel it's worth signing up and being locked in for an entire year.

MELT offers a one-free week trial membership. And after one week, I knew I had to sign up…read more I've done gyms for years. Used them irregularly at best. MELT is the anti-gym experience. You have a good-sized facility, trainers who know your name and want you to come in for training, and the workouts are challenging to your fitness level. They last 30 minutes. Quick does not equal easy. Au contraire, mon frere! You're moving the whole time, under the watchful eye of your trainer, and by the end, you will find yourself sweaty, tired, and thankful you survived. Think you can't "handle" boot camp classes? Neither did I until I went and saw that they customize your workout to your level and work around injuries. There are all ages, sizes and fitness levels that go. Feel self-conscious? Surprisingly, I've never felt any judgement. You're too busy trying to get through each station of the workout to notice anything other than what you're doing. I've been going to MELT for 4 months now. I go about 3-5x a week and I have not done the same exercise twice. They have three locations: Glastonbury, South Windsor, and Harwinton. And the other thing about MELT classes: they know you, and they know what you're capable of, and thus they know when you're slacking! The trainer will come over, give you a little smile, hand you a heavier weight, modify the form of an exercise, or make you drop deeper into a squat or lunge while asking you perkily: "Do you feel that now?" Oh, and if you're a woman thinking this isn't for you: think again. Just as many women attend then men. There are equal number of male and female trainers, too. This is not those boot camps where the trainers yell at you. They definitely push you. They motivate you. And they congratulate you. You will discover that your body, and you, are much stronger than you ever thought you could be. Your win is their win.

In my hunt for a new fitness class place, m.e.l.t. kept popping up- recommendations here on Yelp, Groupons, friends, etc. I decided to purchase the Groupon- $19 for 3 weeks unlimited. Purchasers of such Groupon must attend an orientation, which was a nice way to get everyone acclimated. I will admit, I was skeptical about the workouts only being 30-35 minutes. My skepticism has subsided, and I am a believer. I felt more accomplished in those 30 minutes than I have in any hour long class, let alone my individual workouts at the gym. The instructors are great, motivating, but not in your face. They give different levels of difficulty, and alternate options for exercises if you're not comfortable. Classes may be signed up for online, which is convenient. There are plenty of class time selections, and what's really great is that the classes are the same for the full day (ex: all Tuesday classes are meltabolic, Wednesday is melted upper body) so you don't have to pick and choose certain times on different days. I still have 2 1/2 weeks left of my Groupon, and then I will consider purchasing a membership (seems fairly pricy though!).

I just recently tried out Mission Fitness through the Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce's 'Do a 180,…read moreMove!' program and I gave it so much praise that my husband signed me up for a year for my birthday. I feel like I have finally found my exercise "happy place" so to speak as the environment at Mission is very encouraging and although the workouts are tough, there is so much motivation, that it is easy to push yourself further than you think you can go. I love the variety of classes offered and having tried each one (besides spinning), I find that they each have their own benefits. I also love the fact that the workouts are only around 45-50 mins long with many different class times offered so that it easy to find a time to get there. I am excited to start to hopefully see some results and to continue pushing myself beyond my limits.

I had seen a shiny black pickup truck emblazened with the Mission Fitness logo while driving around town, so one Saturday, I decided to stop in. That's when I met Matt, the owner, and after sizing up the place, I sprung for a 30-session pass on the spot. I'm so happy that I did; in fact, I just purchased a new set of 30. I had no idea what to expect regarding boot camp, and I was happy when I discovered that it isn't about instructors screaming in your face. In each class, we do a lot of things: jumping up and down on a step while holding a weight, making waves out of a huge rope, performing pushups, situps and the evil burpees, maneuvers with medicine balls and other equipment, and sprinting inside and out. Do I love every moment of the class? Absolutely not! It's hard work. But I feel like I've made strides, and I have a terrific feeling of accomplishment, even when I have to take a break when others persevere. The best thing about Mission Fitness is the people. Matt and co-owner Darcy, (brother and sister), and all the instructors are extremely supportive. I feel like they care about me and my fellow participants. It's not just a business to them; they are dedicated to the success of all of us. I love Mission Fitness.

Having this gym a stone's throw away from my house is ideal BUT if the facilities were dirty and mismanaged I probably would not continue to be a member. As Linley S mentioned in her review - the machines are constantly maintained and whether you like cardio or want to lift weights - you will be hard pressed to have to wait very long for anything. Have to go someplace afterwards - clean and spacious changing rooms are available for members. Healthtrax offers a myriad of options - from fitness classes to personal/group training sessions - to get your sweat on. Additionally (and a rarity I might add) this gym has a racquetball court and an all weather pool. Strangely it was the racquetball court that drew me in and since joining I have spent many evenings attempting to beat Mark C. Have kids and can't find a sitter - no problem. Childcare and children's activities are available so the whole family can go. Monthly membership prices are a bit higher than those $10/month gyms in the area but the quality is definitely better. Nobody likes to workout ALL the time - but it's nice that there is a place that makes it a bit easier when you walk through the doors.
