I do not have or know anything about tattoos. I may rethink the possibility of getting one after this visit. My teenage daughter wanted a helix piercing. We discovered the typical mall places cannot pierce cartilage so Bodystain was highly recommended. The shop was clean, staff was extremely friendly, professional, and answered all our questions regarding piercings and tattoos. My daughter said it was a pain free process that was fairly fast. The artist was friendly and made her feel quite comfortable. She was also given literature on aftercare instructions. I'm unfamiliar with the tattoos but I'd recommend Bodystain for piercings. If you're a parent or guardian of a minor, save yourself a trip and bring proper identification and a birth certificate of your child. They strictly follow the health code requirements which is a good thing. They also explain some of the risks of piercings. I'm thinking I'll be returning for myself, to get my first ever tattoo. I'm thinking a teeny weeny fork/knife chef tat, in some private area, because I'm cool like that. LOL read more

Summer of Tattoos! My wife and I spent the spring and summer here. I got 3 tattoos here back in the 90's, basic wall flash. We had wanted some fresh ink for years and decided this would be the year to get some. The shop vibe is very cool and comfortable just as I remember. I was here at least 8 times. I got 4 tattoos, my wife got 3. We got ink from all 4 artists here. Vii is the bomb. She did my leukemia ribbon and flowers tattoo for my son who passed away. Exactly what I wanted, she turned my idea into reality. She also did a big flower tattoo on my wifes hip, another Vii exclusive design. Simply awesome! Carmelo did 2 cover ups for me. He turned a basic sun tattoo from 1996, into a half arm piece with lion, lioness, leopard, and African wild dog. The other arm he turned a basic wolf into a half arm elephant, rhino, hyena and Cape buffalo. Those were fun tattoos and tough at the same time. I Came into these tattoos very open minded with several animals in mind and Carmelo worked his magic. I felt like we were both working on a painting together, I did 4 sittings to get those done. They turned out awesome. My wife lucked into Shawn's chair one day when I was getting one of my tattoos done. He had a last minute cancel, she grabbed him, and he happily did a tattoo for her that day. 4 little flying birds on her arm. Really cool tattoo that she loves. We each got a tattoo by Smitty. My wife got a little sea turtle with purple cancer ribbon, that she loves. I got a traditional swallow with banner, some people call them sparrows. Turned out great. My friend and I have been planning on getting matching tattoos for awhile now, but the places we looked at either had a long wait list or charged a crap ton. We called when they opened, there was no guarantee we were going to get in since it was a walk in. They ended up scheduling us at 2. When we came back for our appointment the girl was super nice her name was VII, she got our design ready and we were both done before 4 with our matching designs and I got a add on for my other tattoo. I have 37 tattooss and my wife has 33 and have been in many tattoo shops around the nation. None of our tats have come from Body Stain. We called on a Tuesday evening and spoke with a representative on the phone about getting a tattoo, and the rep did not offer to make us an appointment. Instead, the guy said walk-in at noon on Wednesday was good. Wednesday at 11:56am we arrive and a male representative says we are all booked for the day and only accepts walk-ins on Tuesdays and Saturdays and suggested making an appointment more than two weeks out. We did not make an appointment after being misinformed by the staff. I find the business disorganized, lacking uniform policy or a lack of staff knowing the policies, or a turnover rate that leaves staff uninformed. read more

My wife and I came to Columbus for a couple days to shop and go to a comedy show. I had an old tattoo on my wrist that I wanted covered up. We stopped in after seeing all of the great reviews and they def lived up to expectations. I told the artist what I was looking for and that we were on limited time because we were from out of town. Our artist customized my idea and brought it to life on my skin. We live approx 3.5 hrs away but would def make the drive back for more art.. I went to Body Stain for the first time today to get my industrial done. I've heard about other places, but my friend Erin has talked about how awesome the staff is there, so I went. The outside of the shop looks like pretty much every other tattoo and piercing shop, but don't let that turn you away. Inside, it's full of artwork, you can see the jewelry they offer, prices for piercings are in a visible location above the counter, and the whole place is clean. And I mean clean. Not at all dingy and disgusting like the tattoo shops you see in the movies or in nondescript areas. Going along with keeping it clean, the staff wears gloves while they're working with you, and they wash their hands before and after. Not only that, they have disposal bins for the needles they use. Definitely a fantastic thing to see. My piercer was Mikey. He's a laid back, friendly guy. We talked about animals, work stuff, and mental health for a bit while he got everything ready, and he let me take my time to relax in between the first and second piercing. I have absolutely no pain tolerance, and he didn't rush me at all. Instead, he told me I was doing great. It made me feel like a champ. That helped me a lot. When we were done, he gave me aftercare instructions and informed me about the average healing time. I will definitely be going back. I have some other piercings in mind and some tattoos, and after this fantastic experience, I'm definitely telling everyone I know to take their business to Body Stain. I got my first tattoo @ Bodystain 2-3 years ago. I worked with Jimmy - he seemed a little young to me, but he was very nice and the tattoo turned out just like I wanted. So last spring I went back to get another tattoo. I noticed online that Jimmy was no longer there, so I looked at everyone's profiles and chose Kevin - we're about the same age, and some of his tattoos are VERY impressive. He was really nice and the session went fine. The trouble came a few days later when I peeled the bandage off - there were "stutter" marks and uneven lines. When I talked to him about it, he said that my skin was very pale (true) and that the lines would fade after a couple of months. I contacted him a couple of months later, and made an appointment so he could blend the problems into the design. He worked on the uneven lines - when I pulled off the bandage this time, the lines were even now - but they were crooked (one of the arcs in the circle looks like his hand got bumped when he was drawing it). Frankly, the tattoo looks worse than it did before. It's now 9 months after I got the tattoo, and those "stutter marks" are still there, along with those wiggly lines. I'm going to try to get it "corrected" again, but I'll find a tattoo artist somewhere else to do it. read more

I found this shop by chance after Kevin posted some amazing drawings he wanted to tattoo on people. I loved the gypsy so I set up an appointment to get it done. I was nervous going in because I wasn't familiar with the shop or his art. However, when I went to have it done I was blown away by how awesome it turned out and how cool the shop was. Just got my first tattoo. Shawn did the work and it looks good so far. He explained the next few days for care 3 times for me and even worked with me as I made a change right before he started. I wish I could give a 5 star for Sarah the piercer, because on all levels she IS a 5+. Her work, her person, her kindness... Don't ever hesitate seeing her for anything. She will give you want you want, walk you through the process, and take care of you. She is the bomb. Love her! LOOK FOR THE GIRL WITH THE DREADS. She is in Monday and Thursday. You will NOT be disappointed. Now on to the one star.... I walked in for a tattoo. I had the unfortunate opportunity of working with Roger. Roger was very rude & dismissive. You never know the battle someone else is going through or why they request the piece they request. You don't know my pain & I AM certain you don't care. That's fine. But When they ask you questions, as a professional, it is your job to answer them without rolling your eyes & treating me as if I am an idiot. I am not weak, but I left your shop beaten down by your cruel & mean attitude towards me so much that I cried all the way home. Tattoo artists are professionals / did you get the idea they needed to be harsh & cruel??!! The rest of your staff I've met & worked with is great. I hope that maybe you can learn that not everyone knows everything about the art of tattooing & that's why they ask you questions. You shouldn't be demeaning because someone asks you about placement. Not once was I asked if I was ok, needed a break, or anything. I have never dealt with an artist like this and I have many tattoos. In the end I settled because I was completely defeated. read more

I had my nose pierced here a couple of years ago and it was a wonderful experience. I was nervous (never had a piercing besides my ears). Everything was sterile and clean. I don't remember the name of the guy who pierced me, but he was so kind and even wiped away my one little tear:) I took care of it exactly how they suggested (they didn't try to sell me any kind of expensive solution--just said salt water would work!) and never had any infections or issues. Tattoo artist Kevin Lee is rude and inconsiderate. My mom went in for her first tattoo and was of course nervous and looking for some reassurance he had no sympathy and only continued to act annoyed and rude. Very disappointed will not go back. read more

I went there to get my industrial piercing. I had gotten a cartridge piercing previously at piercology so this was not my first piecing, but I had heard that the industrial was supposed to have the longest healing time and overall be the "most intense". However, mine did not hurt at all really and has had the easiest and most pain-free healing time. The normal cartilage that I have right above my lobes was so much worse in terms of long term pain. It still hurts after I got it in January, and my industrial no longer does which I got in late May. My experience getting it pierced was perfect, no complaints. My father was very nervous at first but once we got in there he was very comfortable and we both felt safe. Everything was very clean and professional. All of the staff were very kind and helpful and did not try and get us to buy a bunch of stuff. Don't let the area fool you, this is a great place to go get any piercing done. I have no complaints. read more

I had my sleeve done at Bodystain just over a year ago. I wish I could say I had a good experience. After reviewing all the artist's work, I settled on Carmello. He didn't engage in any sort of conversation with me at all. He spent more time talking to the other artist's about tattoo techniques and other various " shop talk" Now that might not be a big deal, but this was a sleeve done in four hour sessions for four months! That's a long time to ignore someone giving you that much business for that amount of time. I should have stopped after the first session, but I soldiered on. My appts. were always scheduled, I never pulled a "walk in" and he was never ready. I could overlook how unprofessional that was, but my tattoo isn't even all that great. He did nothing more than copy the reference images I supplied him with from Google, and tattoo'd them. I really feel like an intern could have pulled this off. My sleeve is not hideous, but it's not a great as I thought it would be either. I would not recommend Carmello for any of your work. I can't speak for any of the other artist's. Their work looks amazing in print, but then again so did Carmello's. read more

Had two tattoos done here they look amazing! I also got two new earrings put in and both 3rd lobes pierced lets just say STAY AWAY FROM THERE CHEAP MADE OVER PRICED JUNK! ! One day after getting a brand new piercing it fell out luckly I got it back in with no issues. I checked the other 3 piercings they all where loose pretty pitiful after spending $180 on them plus a tattoo the same day. Everytime I cleaned them I would make sure they where tight. Just the other day one falls out at work the jewelry is cheap! I have 10 piercings and this was the worst experience so far and most expensive! I still give this place 4 stars had awesome tattoos done, don't think the jewelry is anyones fault just kinda sucks I spent so much for it to fall out. read more
