I decided I needed to surround myself with like-minded people who I could rely on. I found my people here at CrossFit Gig Harbor! I started my CrossFit journey about 4 years ago here at CrossFit Gig Harbor. At first I was intimidated by how strong and athletic everyone was and wasn't sure about myself. But the coaches and members were so welcoming! The coaches knew exactly how to evaluate where I was in my athletic abilities. They modified the workouts to fit where I was and made sure to remind me that every single person starts at a different place and you set goals for yourself and can't possibly compare yourself to others. The members/community are so amazing! Everyone was, and is, so positive and supportive. They're all there to pump you up and cheer you on! I could be having a bad day and not feeling my workouts, but that doesn't matter to anyone. You show up, put in your work, and give it everything you've got in that moment. I've set goals for myself and have learned that advanced movements take time. They emphasize the importance of doing a movement correctly for your own safety and that of others. But this also helps you to be able to advance and be better than you were the day before. It's not about how much weight you can throw up or down if you're in pain because you're doing it poorly. It's about being smart and safe while gaining strength at the same time. About 2 years into my journey, I became pregnant. I just started to feel like I was really getting somewhere and gaining so much strength and then had to start dialing it back for the safety of our little guy. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable in training pregnant women. Even thought I felt as though I could do 'more', they knew what was best and guided me accordingly, while ensuring that any instruction from my doctor would also be followed. I was able to workout 4 days a week throughout my pregnancy. I ended up putting on 35 total pounds. My delivery didn't come close to the birth plan I had set forth and ended with an emergency c-section. I thought this would delay my return to the gym, but it didn't. I started back 4 weeks later with just 'moving'. No weights, no strain, just showing up to be back to reality a little. I needed this for my own sanity to help overcome some postpartum depression. As new parents, my husband and I were a little lost. The community here at CrossFit Gig Harbor was there to help us and let us know that we were doing great as parents! I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight 8 weeks later. I'm 13 months postpartum and in better shape now than I was pre-pregnancy. The programming and support of this community is amazing! I look forward to seeing every one of their smiling faces. I am thankful for David and the community he has brought together. If you are unsure about CrossFit or are scared to try something new and on your own, don't be. Come join us! Sweat, have fun, get strong, and make new friends! You just need to walk in the door and you've made the first step of many more to come!

The disuse of the muscles due to pain has caused a lot of problems with my shoulders, hips and plenty more. I've spent a fortune over the years going to massage, PT and Chiropractic only to ever get temporary relief. I went to The Club with hopes of developing long lasting strength and stability. During my initial consultation the owner said right off the bat that Jesse was the right fit for me. His training and credentials were impressive and we got started right away. Turns out he was right. Based off the intake and symptoms I described, Jesse knew exactly what to focus on and developed an individualized plan to fit my needs all the while being aware of my limitations. I've been training for a little over a month now and I couldn't be happier where things are at. There was a pain between my shoulder blades that I thought would always be there that doesn't hurt at all. My low back is more stable and is holding up longer and longer. Im doing exercises I never thought myself to be able. For the first time in my life I feel hopeful that having a ton of pain might not be a lifelong issue which every doctor and specialist has told me it would be. Aside from my personal experiences...the gym itself is great. The equipment and machines are all kept in great condition. The gym isn't very big but they have everything you need and it's perfect for a personal training gym. I've never had to wait for a machine or piece of equipment. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. And I think that covers everything. Like I said...only good things to say about this gym. Worth every penny.

With his guidance and training, I no longer am getting cortisone shots in both hips, am much stronger and leaner than women much younger than myself. Everyone is professional and I never have any hesitation about training with anyone else in the event Steven is not available. Boot camp on Saturdays are complimentary for anyone, member or not, and the weekends just wouldn't be the same without it!

Due to some schedule conflicts I was able to start the upcoming one, but the owner encouraged me to do the next one. I agreed and true to her word she contacted me and asked if I was still ready, yes I was. Never having done Crossfit before but really needing to find my way back to working on consistently I was nervous to be going to a new gym. Day 1, that was clearly not going to be an issue. Friendly, informative and wow supportive. I am a day away from graduating out of bootcamp, and will be continuing on. The gym is such a positive and proactive place. Encouraging and kind. When my gym of 10 years folded during covid, it was hard, but finally feel like I have found my place! Thank you to everyone, staff and members alike.

If going is at my discretion I will always choose something different. Lunch? My 11 year old daughter was part of the kids program here and it looked fun. It is much more family friendly and less He-man than any of the other Cross fit boxes I looked at. The owners are great. On the kids program they are able to keep the kids going all by making exercise and weights fun. My daughter is a softball player so we were using this as conditioning during the off season. WOW did it make a difference. Dad does not want to play catch with her any longer as she kills my hand. She will be back after the softball season. As a couch potato well fed adult I was a little nervous going in. I did the fundamentals class to learn the ropes before going to my first class and that almost killed me. Week 1 was really hard! Week 2 a little better. I am now 3 months in and I really enjoy my 3 days per week. They are sticklers for GREAT form and will not let you put weight on if you are not doing it technically properly. This is really good as it keeps the injury rate very low. This is Cross fit so I am not going to say the workouts are fun. But take that with a grain of salt as I HATE exercise and always have. The workouts will kill you for an hour.... End of story. And that is great because I can commit to that and it is doing wonders for how I feel. I have even lost a little weight even though that was not the driving goal. Fit and strong was the goal and I can't say enough about this place. Not the He-man place. Very family friendly. Great kids and young adult program. Safe. Great owners!
