I'm glad I found Body Wise Massage and Retail Store. I booked a 45-minute session with a professional practicioner to relief the tension from a tense muscle on my neck. I got Jake, and it was superb. He answered all my questions before and after, and my pain gradually dissapeared as he mentioned. 3 days later I was totally new, which amazed me because the massage was giving results even days later. The friendly lady behind the desk was super accomodating since I booked - by mistake - the session for 3 days later and not the following morning as I intended. I arrived that early morning and without any fuzz she was able to squeeze me in and make it work. As an architect the decor for me is very important for my mood. The rooms are quiet and basic. Upon a Yelp recommendation, I booked a 60 min Gentle Relaxation "Pro" session on a lazy Sunday. I'm so glad that I went! My massage practitioner was Jake. He was friendly and did the best work at relaxing my often tense hips, legs, and shoulders. I also have to contend with sciatic pain every once in a while, and I can't imagine a better place to go to help assuage that pain. The vegan massage oil used in the session was superb. A very reasonably priced massage session, to be honest- lower than the costs of something similar in San Francisco. All in all, I'll definitely be returning for future relaxation massages! read more

I LOVE this place. I'm a regular because the price is great for professional deep therapeutic massage, and the people are wonderful. The owner Audrey is very personable and professional, and every massage therapist I've tried there is excellent, though I have my favorites. Audrey knows her staff well and can recommend practitioners to you based on your preferences. The place is compact, the rooms are small, but the decor and ambiance is lovely, inviting and comfortable nonetheless. I think it's a great business model (I believe it's inexpensive because of their affiliation with student training programs? certainly not because service is second rate). I use Sacred Earth Massage Cream in my massage therapy practice (Human Touch Massage - Marin), a very high quality all vegan product, and it is rather expensive, even in bulk. Body Wise has the best price in the Bay area, plus an extra discount with SpotOn. Plus I don't have to pay shipping or bridge fees, they are in Central San Rafael, very convenient for me - a couple blocks from my office. Awesome! read more

Old Location and staff = 5 Stars - I loved going there - the staff (front desk) was caring and friendly. The set up was a little funky - but it was peaceful and healing. TWO STARS = = = New Location: 2 tiny rooms, rude and stressed out new staff, outside bathroom, parking challenges, and more than 75% of old staff is gone. Gave it some time.... after massage at new location.... Went yesterday - my massage was wonderful, but the front office staff were once again angry and rude. I stood at the desk for 5 minutes smiling before the dark long haired woman looked up at me and scowled... I sat down. A simple "hello" would have been nice, even if she was NOT the Receptionist! By the time I was on the table, I had been sarcastically addressed and / or ignored by three different women all in that tiny space up front. Computer problems they said were to blame - but WHY take it out on a customer? Your clients visit you and pay their money to have a stress free - peaceful and healing experience. You will find it hard to earn loyalty and retain clients when you treat your paying clients poorly. I will not try a third time, instead, I will find a place where I am greeted and treated with kindness. read more

Heavenly Hands My massage was very relaxing and therapeutic at the same time. My massage lasted for an hour and a half and it seemed as if only 20 minutes passed! We had a family reunion recently in Mill Valley-celebrating our Dad's 88th birthday and our niece's Pandemic nuptials-and Tobi and Lowell came to the house for in home massages. I have never had a better massage in my life. I came in with the worst back pain I've ever experienced and I left not quite back to normal, but extremely improved. My masseuse Catherine, did an excellent hour long, full body massage. She took her time, the temperature in the room was right, the music and aroma in the room was relaxing, the pressure was perfect. The most amazing part of this massage was when she performed some magic on my body, getting my core muscles to engage and my back pain went away. I want to find a place to get a good therapeutic massage without any fuss, and at a reasonable price so I can return regularly, and this seems like it may be it. Nathan knows his stuff, listened very well and has great technique. I have old spinal fusion and whiplash issues, and it takes some skill to balance getting deep enough to be effective while not setting up a rebound inflammatory reaction. He achieved that well during a 60 min. session. I will look forward to getting additional bodywork done with Nathan, and perhaps with some other therapists since it seems there are some knowledgeable pros here.
