I like how clean and open the space is, really beautiful, and how it doesn't smell like sweat but often smells like sage when I walk in. The instructors have great energy and workout with you, so you have an example for checking your form throughout. They are also creative, so it doesn't get boring or repetitive. Well I'll be damn! I'd never thought I would appreciate a nice studio as much as I did this one. The place is well laid out with unique art pieces and a hip vibe. The studio can host up to 21 people with plenty of room to get your sweat on. The bathroom facilities are very clean and zen! They have tons of equipment options and everything was really clean. The classes I took (Saturday and Sunday morning) were both hard and enjoyable. A great way to start my day and kick my almost toned butt. The instructors were knowledgeable and were able to assist me with my existing injuries. I will absolutely come back here and pay to get my butt kicked!! read more

This is a phenomenal workout! It's unlike many barre classes I've been to because of the expert mix of different styles - interval training, yoga, pilates, and barre! I swear that each time I was at my breaking point the style would change so that I wouldn't die. The music was perfectly connected to the intensity of each thing we did, so that it would motivate you when you needed that extra push and would calm you when the intensity declined. Amazing! And the instructors are freaking fabulous! Wow, I can't imagine better people to be leading these classes. They are so energizing and somehow make these difficult workouts fun! Be prepared to be sore the next day. I feel like I can already see a difference in my abs! While it is definitely a hard workout, they provide the necessary support for beginners. I've been going here for barre classes for over a year, and I love it! I've tried most of the major barre studios in Seattle and what I love about Bohemian Studios is that you always leave with a good sweat and there isn't a hugely predictable structure to the class. You know you're going to get full-body workout, but they make each class challenging and varied. The environment is warm and inviting too. They make newbies feel very welcome and full explanations and demos are given for more complicated moves. Plus, every class begins with introducing yourself to your neighbor. I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to try a fitness class, and she invited me to a barre class at this studio- I honestly had no idea what to expect but the website said that it was suitable for all levels, so I threw on some fitted joggers and off I went! When I arrived I was told to set up for class with the same equipment the instructor set out and found a cozy spot near the door. The class wasn't full (which is apparently rare) so I had plenty of room to embarrass myself. Now I'm not an out of shape person, I do cardio 3 times a week at the gym and eat very well. But Miranda's barre class kicked my entire ass (in a good way!) Afterwards I did feel sore as expected of a rigorous hour long workout, but I still felt amazing. I slept like an actual baby and woke up still feeling great. Everyone at the studio itself was very friendly and Miranda was great. The flow of the class focuses on exhausting specific parts and muscles of the body one by one so you definitely get your moneys worth for a full body work out- not that $25 for the first week is unreasonable at all! I'll definitely be back, but note to self: Be sure to stretch a bit more next time! read more

I attended my first class with Andriela last night and it was AMAZING. As someone who has been out of shape for some time with a background of doing yoga and weight training, many of the moves used during the workout were familiar, but the level and energy they were being done at kicked my booty. It was challenging, but you could feel each move working your muscles and you just know "if I keep doing this my I'm going to look amazing" so you push through. The studio is small with one bathroom, but even in it's small size it is both charming and welcoming. All of the women (tons of regulars) were very friendly and welcoming. It's easy to spot a new face here as many of these women are dedicated to both barre and this studio. I am excited to continue attending classes with Andriela and other instructors! read more

In summary: incredible people, great space, and finding new ways to get my muscles to the point they can't go on anymore but do anyway... I initially contacted Bohemian Studios in the first round of information gathering while I was trying to get a feel from several local studios for how I would fit in as a complete new beginner in their Yoga classes. In the followup to that contact I found out about their Barre offerings, and that really caught my attention; it seemed to combine the best of all the individual disciplines I had been considering in a bid to get back in shape, so I decided to give them a shot on the $25 unlimited classes for a week trial offer. Walking in to my first session I was super nervous. I really couldn't get a feel from the website quite what to expect beyond a well decorated studio they were very proud of and they had a range of instructors with some pretty incredible backgrounds; beyond that it was a eyes-wide-shut moment. As soon as I introduced myself to Mara, the instructor for that first session, the nervousness went away - she was very welcoming, helped me get set up, and explained some ways I could adjust the intensity of the various things we were going to be doing that day. As the studio filled up, there was a feeling of community among those there, and the two people who setup on either side of me were also as warm and welcoming as the instructor had been. Once the class started, however, I suddenly found myself discovering muscles I don't think I had ever been aware of before. Barre is probably not the best workout for an overweight 45 year-old with no relevant experience to jump straight into, but I did, and I survived. No, I wasn't able to fully keep up and I needed more than a few 10 second mini-breaks, but I generally got the hang of it and managed to work more muscles than I care to admit to the point of exhaustion. And somehow, against all the odds, after a half mile uphill walk to my flat I felt better than I have in years. The same held true the next morning, so I booked another spot that afternoon and decided I'd stick with it. A week later, and I'm now feeling and seeing initial results enough that I've committed to a 3 month pass. Every class I have attended (6 in 7 days) has had incredible instructors and the other participants have been fun, motivating, and energizing. The workouts are significantly harder than I initially expected, but I'm building core strength, becoming more flexible, and burning calories - in short, it's worth the burn it takes to get there. I signed up for the $25 unlimited new student special and man--I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! I have tried other barre studios before, but Barre Bohemian is like no other!! It's a mix of yoga, a boot camp type of thing, barre and its just so fun, chill and it also kicks your ass! Love the vibe, the music and the energy!! And it challenges me everytime!! Just took my first class here with Lesley, and it was great! I'm a little overweight and everyone else there was thin, but I expected as much from the reviews I read here. I didn't feel intimidated at all! Lesley was very friendly and encouraged you to talk to your neighbors and introduce yourselves. The class itself isn't that much different from Pilates. Thankfully, I've done some Blogilates before so it was a little easier to keep up. That being said, it's a challenging work out! Even some of the regulars have to take a step down sometimes. This is a very cute little studio and a great addition to West Seattle. I just took my first class and it was a good experience. The room was packed full and everyone who attended was friendly. The instructor was body-positive and energized and that is what made this class truly worth doing. The music was a nice mix of fun and relaxing, at the right moments. I will say to anyone considering this class, it would be extremely tough for a complete novice. I've taken quite a few yoga and pilates classes, and although I am by no means advanced, I am in decent shape and this was a super-tough workout. Some existing yoga knowledge before entering the class would be helpful to make you feel more comfortable with the pace (in my opinion). This isn't a criticism by any means- Each studio is different and that's awesome! I just think it'd be super intimidating for a total newbie and am sharing it as more of an "FYI". I did like that there seemed to be a varying level of experience in the room, although most were quite experienced...Some of us stopped to take breaks when necessary and adjusted moves to better suit where we are at. I admit to feeling a little intimidated by the pace, myself, but I rolled with it and took it as a challenge. In this particular class we didn't use the barre aspect- it was mostly weights and floor work, so I'm excited to try that in the future at this studio. What a great Barre studio here in West Seattle. The studio is clean, spacious w a lot of light. What I love about Barre Bohemnian compared to other barre studios is how creative the movements are, how the instructors do the workout WITH you, how community oriented it is too. All the instructors are great. They remember your name even after one class! And bonus! The music(!) is better than most other Barre places. It's not just droning synchronized beats. Context to my comments, I like group exercise, am a lil outta shape but not terribly, and like welcoming, fluid spaces with some fun and good humor thrown in. If you are looking for advanced barre and appreciate rigidity with rules, this is your place! If you're like me, and like a good, sweaty workout but more of an intermediate-to-high level, and prioritize hospitality over rigid adherence to time, then be sure to read the attendance policy before considering joining. I was kindly gifted a temporary punch card so tried out several different barre instructors - they were all professional and seem well liked by students. Heidi definitely stands out with strong workout combined with high energy and good humor, she's fabulous!!.. usually teaches at 6am weekdays. The other barre classes felt a bit too advanced for my fitness level, but I enjoyed the spirit flow yoga class. I recently went to a class which I had RSVP'd for, had to battle weekend, leisurely drivers and no parking in the area (this is a huge issue if you're driving here), and arrived at the door definitely not even 5 mins late (I checked the time upon returning to my car). I was locked out... a student kindly opened the door for me but my spot had been given away to someone on a wait list. The instructor (not Heidi) was very apologetic, to be fair. But I have a serious issue with being ever-so-slightly late and being locked out with my spot given away. (I edited this post to unname the class I went to after owners confirmed this is studio policy; don't want this to reflect poorly on any individual instructors.) I stopped going to the studio after being locked out - doesn't fit the culture and vibe I'm looking for. But if you're type A, love rules and pushing your limits in exercise, I think you'd really like it here - check out Heidi and try the spirit flow for a change of pace. read more

The West Seattle spot is really welcoming and plays fun music that's a nice break what you usually hear at the gym. They're delightfully eclectic, as the name suggests, friendly, and deceptively hard! I was new to Barre and over the last 6 months have acclimated to this style of working out. The atmosphere is comfortable, all instructors are very welcoming, the music is uplifting (sometimes a bit loud for my liking) but it keeps you moving. There is no wasted time and I always leave with just enough 'pain' that I want to come back because it works so many muscles and more. I don't write a lot of Yelp reviews, but I always try to do it when I encounter a truly exceptional business that warrants a review. Barre Bohemian is amazing. I am SO glad they opened out in West Seattle. The studio is small but very charming and intimate. Parking is on the street, but readily available! The space is always clean and neat, and there are plenty of weights, straps, etc. in the back of the studio. Super cool mural on the back wall, and the front has these charming upholstered chairs and boxes on the wall for storage. Adorable and practical. I've only taken classes with Adrienne (the owner) so far, and she is AMAZING. Seriously. She's incredibly talented at leading her students, giving clear direction, and pushing you just a little bit further (#tinylifts). Her classes are incredibly varied and creative. I don't think you could ever get bored. I've been to four or so classes and I don't think I've repeated a sequence, which is amazing. Barre is a tough workout! Don't be intimidated... Some basic yoga knowledge would be a plus (but definitely is not required). Most importantly, you can tell this is a body-positive space, and I have never felt out of place or not *right* for these classes. All the other students are friendly (especially at 5:45 AM!). Adrienne's energy and enthusiasm is infectious (again, even at 5:45 AM!), plus she has great music. I am excited to take classes with all of the instructors at BB! Pricing is very reasonable (especially if you purchase the class packs), and classes are a full hour. I think it's only a matter of time until Barre Bohemian is so popular that it moves into a larger space, though I'll miss the cozy little studio :) read more

I've had some truly terrible barre experiences and was hesitant to try barre again after a lot of body shaming, mean instructors, and sub-par experiences. Barre Bohemian is none of that! The teachers are adorable and fun, classes are challenging and athletic, and I always leave feeling REALLY enthused about my body- not ashamed of my abilities. Bohemian Studios is the most effective barre workout in Seattle, hands down! As a fitness enthusiast who has been working out for years, I finally gave barre a shot and came to highly respect Adrianne's barre method. It is very challenging and works muscles and targets areas that are not often worked in traditional strength training or HIIT classes. Barre helped me recover from postpartum back pain and a weak pelvic floor. I would highly recommend Bohemian Studios and especially for physical issues resulting from having babies. I love this studio! They have such an inclusive, welcoming environment. It is a tough class, but it's a type of workout that can be easily modified to meet all fitness levels. I love the positivity and empowering vibes. The only thing to be aware of is that there's no AC so on really hot days the studio can be sweltering. This was my first introduction to Barre and, no pun intended, but they set the bar high!. The classes are hard, but you set your level. The instructors are motivational and very knowledgable. I have a shoulder injury and they are great about helping me modify my workout. What a great studio! I tried barre on a whim thinking it probably wouldn't be for me and now I'm hooked! I've been led by almost every instructor and found them to all be so wonderful and do a great job of creating a positive and encouraging space for everyone. The studio itself is reason enough to pop in and check out the space-- beautifully simple, modern, and clean. It's also quite cozy, which I've found to foster a social environment that might not exist in a larger space. I see a lot of the same gals in class, which also proves that there is a loyal Bohemian clientele. In the time that I've been there, they've had several nice workshops each month to broaden the experience for their patrons. To top it off, they are now offering yoga several days a week!
