TLDR: fun way to get a full body workout with friends! Tip: sign the waiver forms online in advance! Keep an ample amount of chalk in your hands at all times! You don't want to rub skin off, trust me! Parking: small private lot Service: check in at the counter, get your shoe rentals and a bag of hand chalk. If you are new to Momentum, you will watch a short intro/safety video. Atmosphere: spacious and music plays in the background but is honestly ignorable and not too overpowering. Just the right volume. There is a variety of levels VB being the easiest and V16 the most difficult. They are marked with white tags at the beginner of each rock color set. There is regular weight lifting and other body building equipment and well as grip training walls. I'm amazed at how some people can hold on to just a sliver of ledge!!! There is a separate closed off room in the back left corner for lounging but it is quite echoey. Poor acoustics. The back left corner also has simple electronic lockers to use and store your belongings. There are instructions on the back of the lock on how to set it. The lockers are a good size and can fit a large backpack. To the right of the lockers is a hand washing station to clean chalk off your hands. Use that knee pad to turn the water on! Overall great place to obtain sore forearms haha. I do personally prefer the Seattle Bouldering Project though because they have more space, equipment and foam rollers.

I was excited for a new climbing facility to try out while visiting friends in Seattle! The rating system here was unlike any other gym I've seen, with V2s resembling 4s and anything V3+ being nearly impossible to complete at my level, which is normally where I do well. My rating is mostly tied to the rock quality, which is due to all of the rubber making most footholds extremely slippery as they appeared to have never been cleaned and it made for a difficult climb. Otherwise, the facility was clean and open and had a great gym! I would return, but probably only after improving or if they started setting routes differently.

I have climbed at SBP and Vertical World, so I was excited to try a new spot this weekend to boulder! My friend Maria had taken an intro class at Momentum and she really liked it and invited me to climb with her. She was on a 2 week free trial and she thought she had a free guest pass because her instructor told her so. But I guess that wasn't the case. The girl at the front desk was nice enough to wave the fee because of the confusion though. Location and Parking: it is right next to Starbucks Corp and they have their own lot. I didnt have any trouble parking yesterday. Pros: - Not crowded whatsoever! - locker room, locker, shower, and toilets were very clean! I enjoyed climbing here. The routes were fun and I liked the routes that go over the top. The facilities also included a nice looking gym too! I did not think the crash pad mats were overly hard. I think since the place is new, they just need to be worn in a lil.

Facility is really nice and clean, great parking. I loved the climbing routes and they ranged from easy to hard. I went with a friend and we had 5 kids total, they were willing to let us in (unlike Seattle bouldering project who have a 1:2 adult to kid ratio) however seattle bouldering project is a lot more kid friendly vibe, I felt like we had a lot of glaring from people there, just felt like people were annoyed we were even there even though the kids were very respectful and quiet, they paid close attention to the rules and making sure they have other climbers space. I liked how spacious the climbing gym was but one star off for feeling like we brought kids into a porcelain shop maybe creating a family or kid area would make it more comfortable for parents bringing their kids in.

    Sweet built in EL lighting!

The routes are harder imo, I'm having to climb at least 1-2 levels less than I climbed at SBP.

Cheers to ECA Columbia City!…read more Starting with the Mission, Vision, and Values statement clearly displayed on the wall, this place "brings it" every day. I've been a devoted gym rat my entire life, and I've been a member of or visited hundreds of gyms across the country. The EAC in Columbia City matches the best of any of them. Their free weights, weight lifting machines, and cardio equipment, are all up to date, and both varied and plentiful, so waits are minimal. And their Champions area is both spacious and well equipped. But it all starts with their people. Starting at the front desk. Dallas, Huy, and Erika, are among the first faces you see and, as with all good customer facing companies, they are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. And I've noticed that each regularly uses the seemingly lost skill of name recognition. They routinely display a proud sense of ownership. On every visit, I look forward to the words of encouragement from Dallas, and the smile and fist bump from Huy. On the back end, led by Zach, the fitness leader, they have a cadre of impressive trainers. Of the team, Sydney, Marcus, Sean, and Tre stand out for both their technical and interpersonal skills. Sydney, in particular, is both versatile and flexible whether an individual client or group is looking for weight training, conditioning, sparring/boxing, or simply lending an ear and a meaningful conversation. Similarly, Marcus is impressive with his high energy training and group Champions Class. He has, by far, the best music selection of any exercise class that I've ever been around. Kudos to the Emerald City Athletics!

I gained weight, lost all the muscle I had worked hard to build, and now that I am in my 40s, it does not fall off as soon as I decide I want to move around again. Enter Curt and Roundbox.
