I'm skipping the education on what a rodizio is. Presumably you know that already. That said, Fogo de Chão offers 5 menu options: 1) Buffet only: €11 2) Mini-rodizio - no beef: €16 3) Traditional rodizio: €19 4) Special rodizio - only beef: €22 5) Executive rodizio - "Our signature steak, picanha represents the art and science of churrasco cooking. Lightly seasoned with rock salt and sliced thin, it is tender with a robust flavor.": €25 I opted for the traditional. (Why I didn't spend €6 more for the executive, I don't know. I'll just say I was overwhelmed.) I had some sausages that were decent, not great. I skipped on any chicken that came my way. My first beef encounter was not very good. I don't know what it was and due to a language barrier, the gaucho couldn't tell me either. He just kept saying it was "beef!" I had about 5 different cuts. The last, and again, I have no idea what it was, was mouth-watering. My wife had the buffet and I did venture to it for some samples. Neither of us were impressed by it. We still highly recommend Fogo de Chão in Cascais, though, if you're a meat eater. Where else can you get unlimited steak for €25 or unlimited meat in general for €19?

I had the prawns and my wife had the smoked salmon salad. The prawns were superb. There were 8 giant ones served in a pan with garlic and butter. They were fresh and just wonderful. There is a dreamy, gothic ambiance and elegance to the hotel while at same time it feels very clean and upscale. As with the Michelin portion of the restaurant, you are seated front and center to an epic view of the rocky shoreline at Guincho. Low key early Bacharach w Dionne Warwick music bubbles in the background. Nice low key lighting. Total vibes. We tried several dishes and everything was delicious. Not a bad one in the bunch. A lot of fish based dishes with Portuguese touches . Perfect proportions. Super tasty. All the management and service remembered all my family's general food, drink, wine, breakfast preferences throughout our stay, especially main waiter Rue who took great care of us, as well as Fortaleza do Guincho hotel manager Victor and his assist Alexander. Couldn't use it for the first day because we woke up too late for breakfast. Then when I asked T**** if he couldn't compensate or do something about the 40 Euros, T**** said there is nothing he could (or would) do. Maybe he could have asked me for my room number to confirm that we didn't eat breakfast. So, in the future, don't buy the breakfast option in advance. Based on T**** lack of interest in knowing my room number, it seems that you could probably just stroll in and eat. As a side note, the maid didn't refill my coffee and I had to ask for the regular, non-decaf coffee and for the two daily complimentary water bottles. On second thought, don't stay here. You are betting off staying in town instead of being held hostage in this remote, expensive, badly trained staff at this hotel.
