I had been going here for years and was generally happy with things. Dr Rosa was usually pretty cold and disinterested, but the hygienists were always great. However, the ladies at the front desk told me AFTER my last visit that they were no longer in-network with my insurance and stuck me with a large bill instead of the usual copay. They had plenty of time to tell me beforehand, but they didn't. I was pretty pissed off and they were totally dismissive. It's hard to believe they didn't know what they were doing. read more

The technician aggressively broke my bridge. Dr. Rosa blamed Obamacare for her high prices, even though I had no dental insurance. She wanted $11K. She then disparaged Mexico and its dentistry. My new dentist charged $3K. That was three years ago and I'm doing fine. My new dentist cares about me. read more

Boise Downtown Dental were great! I was so nervous & Dr. Rosa P. was great and very detailed in her explanation for the plan on how to take care of my teeth moving forward. ALSO, the detail hygienist TONYA she was just wonderful!!! So caring & gentle with my teeth! She was just great, I cannot say this enough times! I have super sensitive teeth & she made the experience so much better! And...June at the front desk was great! She processed all my paperwork & Kylie was amazing too. I went to Dr.Ririe after having the most terrible experience with another dentist. He was recommended by a friend and I would only go to someone a friend personally recommended because of how traumatized I felt by my previous dental experience. Dr.Ririe helped me through my whole situation and after many visits and a LOT of problem solving, he got me through my fears and totally fixed all the wrongs that had been previously ailing me. I appreciated the way he gave me options, explanations, and listened to my concerns. I'll go back to him any time I need more dental work! I'm disappointed I have to write this review as Dr. Ririe came highly recommended to us by our chiropractor. From the first call in to acquire more information on the tongue tie process Dr. Ririe takes with toddlers and infants I felt as if I was inconveniencing Maribel on the phone. She would not answer any of my questions and kept saying I had to come in for a $150 consultation fee when we already know that my son has a tongue tie and were more concerned with the process of working with a toddler and not whether he had a tongue tie or not. Maribel was not understanding what we were asking and was rude. My first instinct was to no longer proceed with a practice who was going to treat us so rudely and not answer any of our questions before bringing our entire family in for consultations $$$. I called back one more time in hopes of clarifying our situation and spoke with Megan who was very nice, asked lots of questions and seemed genuinely interested in helping. She said she would talk to Dr. Ririe and follow up with us on Monday which was 2 days ago and I have heard nothing... Due to such a negative experience with this office before even having come in for a visit its doubtful I will pay them for any services. I will consider modifying this review if I even get a call back. The customer service here is some of the worst I've ever experienced. I hope that if you consider this practice for anything you require them to answer basic questions for you and hopefully have a better experience than we did read more

Dr. Rosa is by far, without a doubt, the best dentist EVER! I have extreme dental phobia, to the point where I have anxiety attacks days leading up to an appointment (I was traumatized as a child). I had several cavities that needed to be filled due to years of avoiding the dentist. I knew I had to do something before the cavities got worse so I went on the hunt for a dentist that could help me with my phobia. I am so glad I found Dr. Rosa and I wish I knew about her sooner! Not only is she thorough, gentle, personable and extremely knowledgeable, she knew exactly what to do in order to help me through the process. She has a very calm and loving energy, which put me at ease. She may have even cured my phobia to some degree since I have not had any anxiety attacks when thinking about an upcoming dental procedure. Whereas before just the mere thought of going to the dentist made me hyperventilate. Her entire staff (hygienists, assistants, and the receptionists) are all lovely and very sweet. They all completely understood my situation and played a role in making me feel calm and safe. I cannot thank Dr. Rosa and her team enough for their help. I will recommend Dr. Rosa to everyone. One of my worst experiences with a dentist. The last straw was recently when I came in with a toothache, and despite me pointing to the correct tooth, they got the tooth wrong (choosing a dead tooth which can't feel pain) and referred me to a specialist for it who couldn't see me for a week. In a lot of pain, I tried a different dentist and they identified the tooth immediately and immediately treated it. I'm incredibly happy with the new dentist. I could give several other stories of things done wrong here. Yes, they're friendly, but Boise has a lot of options for dentists and all of them are friendly. I would highly recommend avoiding this one. read more

Had a bit of a rough visit as a first timer here. I recently took the plunge into adulthood and made a new patient appointment away from my usual hometown dentist. The location is hard to find as a first timer and my visit was two hours. I was called a mouth breather at least half a dozen times (once would've sufficed) and felt pressured to consider realignment options. My visit happened to be during the Hot Air Balloon Festival and while I don't mind appreciating the view ( it WAS very nice!) It began to feel unprofessional for the hygienist to stand at the window taking pictures, not to mention it made the visit drag on. The hygienist was very kind but appeared to be flustered and distracted with her morning. While I myself am not a fully functioning human until about noon, I became concerned when at some point she dropped a tool on the floor, picked it up, put it back, and later tried to use it in my mouth! I will say that a very thorough assessment was done. However, as a new patient the onslaught of treatment options was overwhelming. This visit felt more like a sales pitch than a dentist appointment at times. By the end of the appointment, I was given a list of cavities to fill, a handfull of floss, and sent on my way with no further explanation. I would have benefitted from knowing more about the decay process, which stages cavities were in, etc. All in all it was just a bit of a rough morning for us all. read more

The first time I went here was over 10 years ago when my daughter's two front teeth had the misfortune of meeting up with the blunt end of a pogo stick...but just last week I went in and had Rosa Pothier place a crown on a molar and take care of a sensitive spot near my gum line...Rosa is great...she readily admits that going to 3 different dentists can result in 3 different opinions about treatment options and care. Rosa is neither passive nor aggressive about the best course of action, she is practical, reasonable and has a great "chair-side manner". This office has two locations, one downtown in the Aspen Building and another on Ustick. I have visited both. They validate parking if you use the downtown location; each office is well furnished, comfortable and professional. I highly recommend Rosa, she is fantastic and fun (Yup! Even dentists can be fun! My family has gone to Dr. Steve Bruce since 1980. We've seen Dr. Ririe and Dr. Dan Bruce. They have always been professional, give the highest quality care and provide caring and efficient customer service. My mid 30 year old son, who had fillings done when he was about 15 or 16, recently saw a dentist in Northern California. The dentist in California said that he saw a couple of fillings. My son said they were done when he was in his mid teens and thought, "great now I'll have to get crowns." However, his CA dentist said that those were the finest fillings he'd seen and his dental work was impeccable. After his cleaning, he was on his way. As my son left, the CA dentist asked where he grew up and had his teeth taken care of. He was really surprised when he heard that it was in Boise ID. My son loves surprising people about Idaho. He really loved touting his hometown dentists. We all love the doctors at Boise Downtown Dental, and Tammy and, of course, Junie, too. read more
