No place better to be on a Saturday morning than the Capital City Public Market. Currently, as of…read morethe Summer of 2022, the Capital Saturday market is located at the Grove Plaza. The market runs from April-December every Saturday 9:30 am- 1:30 pm. The Grove Plaza is neighbored by the Boise Centre, ICCU Arena, and the BSU downtown campus. I live nearby, so I usually walk but there is both street parking and public garage parking nearby. Here you can find local produce (although, limited if you come later in the day), locally raised meats and fish, ceramics and other handmade products, and ready-made foods. I usually grab a mixed greens salad for $5, which lasts me the whole week. Something about these greens, they do last forever! I had a friend pick me up a bag while I was out of town (yes, I'm that addicted to this salad mix) and he actually bought twice as much as I usually do and they were still nice a crisp 1-2 weeks later! The microgreens here are great, and I love that you can get a mix of different microgreens in one container. There are also a few vendors that sell foods to snack on while you're shopping. My go-to is to grab a cup of coffee that's locally roasted, there's a spot that does have dairy alternatives along with flavored syrups that I love. The dumplings with the spicy momo sauce are the highlight of my Saturdays whenever I come here. If you're in Boise on a Saturday in April-Dec the Capital City Market is the spot to be. Highly recommend it, it's a Boise gem! Never too crowded but still a great spot to people and dog watch (Yes, dogs are allowed at this market)!!

My best friend and I had a great time exploring these alleys and seeing fun murals by different artists. It's free to visit. We parked in front of the coffee shop we were visiting that morning and walked over with our drinks. There were a lot of folks taking photos with the murals. I loved that it felt like the longer you looked the more you found. I'm glad we went!

I love when cities embrace art and Boise does a great job of letting artists enhance the space through great installations just like this one. The colors and textures are beautiful and enhance the building (The Grove Hotel) it occupies. This 19x50 piece of art can be found on your walk downtown or you can drive specifically to it at the corner of Front Street & Capitol Blvd. Artist Alison Sky made it in 1999 as a celebration of water. It once had a water feature but due to problems maintaining it that part was dismantled and much later LED lights were added. It is said it was inspired by water & canals that were once under the city. So interesting and fun. This local flavor is a great see in the city

The St. Luke's Sequoia Tree, located now at the Fort, State Street & 1st street roundabout at Fort…read moreBoise Park. This gigantic sequoia has a unique history. The story goes John Muir, a known philanthropist, author, and lover of nature in California, sent 4 seedlings to a friend in Boise, ID in 1912. This sequoia is the last of the four seedlings to survive. It grew to over 110 ft high. Unfortunately St. Luke's hospital needed to expand where the tree was. So the plan was to move the tree not destroy it, thank goodness. On 2017 among lots of fanfare it moved to its current spot where it has thrived. It had another brush with death when it got overused and overwhelmed being the Christmas Tree lit for years. That was abandoned when the tree didn't flourish due to the event. It now is happily anonymous except for those who visit and photograph it. This iconic tree is beautiful and it's history reminds you that conserving nature is important and doing so in this case will give future generations the tree to enjoy

I visited Boise ID with friends, and the Ann Frank museum was on our list to check out…read more Unfortunately, we could not fit it in. On Sunday, before the farewell brunch we were attending, we stopped by. It's a very beautiful and calm. We walked around the grounds and drank up the beauty and words of wisdom. We did not get to check out the inside of the museum since it was closed. If I make it back to Boise, I will make it a priority to visit the museum when it's open!

It's ironic that this is in a place like Idaho that does so much against kindness for all. As a…read morenative I'm frequently ashamed of us, but this place is lovely and actually seems to carry the message of what I hope things could be. Some people left their trash around and I don't love that for us, it was easy to pickup with trash cans near by-but otherwise, it was a lovely, peaceful, and calm place. It was so nice and cool on a long hot walk along the green belt and more work seems to be happening to expand it! Worth the visit!

If you read through that noise, all you see is they make great food. I am here to tell you that they really do make great pizza. We have been several times now and they are just fantastic. So many styles and nade fresh. The crust is amazing and topping are amazing. Favorite thing to do is eat the pizza then dip the crust in Olive oil and balsamic. It's magical. Cold beers, good wine, great jazz playing and just enough attitude to remind me of eating in Italy. Love the owners, love the pizza and love the place.

We overheard the conversations of diners two tables away from us and didn't feel like we could really talk with each other due to that. We ordered cocktails, focaccia, entrees and dessert. The focaccia was ok but not memorable and our drinks took awhile to arrive. When they did, they were ok but not great (too much ice, almost tasteless). Our entrees arrived and I was surprised to receive only 6 clams with my fettuccini. Seemed a bit sparse for the upcharge. I think shrimp would have been a better match or mussels and more of them. (From the photos I see online, the dish should come with more clams). The pasta was fresh but bland and unexciting. My partner had the bucatini carbonara and said it was similarly bland and the meat was overcooked to the point he didn't even finish it. We were excited for the tiramisu as well since it's a dish we love. What we received was very lackluster, near tasteless and scant in both presentation and portion. It's an easy stroll with stops for local history. Kayshauna was fun, informative and friendly. First stop was beef tallow fries with bison burger and build your own seasonings. It definitely sets the mood for the tour. We moved to one of the most infectiously delicious spots - Ansots!! Ellie and her staff make you feel like family. The food sampling was varied and oh so yummy. We had to indulge in the Basque cheesecake and bought pieces to take back to enjoy later at the hotel. There are two more delicious stops. You will not go hungry! You can also opt to add alcohol to your food tour but there is water and mocktails if you didn't. It was one of the best things we did on our trip. Book it and you won't regret it.
