As you can see by my reviews I love pizza. I am always looking for a great pie. Read the reviews with so many people complaining about the wait or not being allowed to move chairs around. If you read through that noise, all you see is they make great food. I am here to tell you that they really do make great pizza. We have been several times now and they are just fantastic. So many styles and nade fresh. The crust is amazing and topping are amazing. Favorite thing to do is eat the pizza then dip the crust in Olive oil and balsamic. It's magical. Cold beers, good wine, great jazz playing and just enough attitude to remind me of eating in Italy. Love the owners, love the pizza and love the place. read more

It is a cozy little place with six tables. We got lucky as someone had just left. It is right next door to the Egyptian theater, very convenient for us. The pies coming out of the oven looked great. The squeeze and I split the "Favorite". It comes with olives, prosciutto and of course sauce and cheese. Pizza crust was perfect, had a nice chew. The amount of toppings was just right. Service was a tad slow but with a single chef and a server, that's the way it is. Just relax and enjoy the food. The server and chef were very friendly and gracious. Wow phenomenal brick oven pizza! Friendly staff and great outdoor ambiance. We got some fresh focaccia and the favorite pizza. Focaccia was nice and crispy. First time I've had thin focaccia and it was good. The favorite pizza was so good! It had sautéed mushroom, olives and prosciutto. The pizza is thin sliced and the crust is charred. Overall the food was great and so was the service. They do take their time to make the pizza. We waited about an hour if not slightly longer but honestly it was worth it! read more

Probably the one of the BEST mom-and-pop wood-fired/brick-oven pizza restaurants west of the Rockies! Literally it's Tony hand-making each pizza and his lovely wife Jonanne serving each table. Every time I visit Boise, I try to work a dinner at Tony's into my plans. Quaint, unassuming, little location, probably no more than 7 tables. If you're not looking for it, you'll walk/drive right past and miss it. Don't be in a rush, let time come to a standstill and enjoy the time with them and their passion for making your dinner perfect. The Primavera pie is so good! Six tables inside for 16 customers, maximum. No reservations, no groups over 4. Love the quaintness and exclusiveness. Keeps the riffraff and hipster, foodie trash out of the place. Traditional sidewalk tables, but the city has yanked their permit. That is what you get when you are directly across the street from a City Hall who wants to be overbearing on every business. The salads looked great, but we were here for pizza. Might do the salad next time. We got the Quattro Stagioni. San Marzano sauce, mozzarella, homemade Italian sausage, sauteed Mushrooms, roasted Asparagus & imported Prosciutto di Parma (lots and lots of it). Perfect for 2 people, but I had to fight my "other" for my share. Really thin crust and lightly burned from the wood fired oven. Perfecto. Great service and cold Peroni beer. I almost hate to give it a review because it's small and I don't want to end up with a line around the corner situation but Tony's deserves it. It's a real gem here in Boise. I love the intimate setting with limited seating and the "mom and pop" vibe. It's literally a husband and wife as the entire staff. The pizza holds its own anywhere, especially in Idaho where there is a lot of decent but not great pizza(in my opinion). Tony's really sets the bar high. I love the margheritta and the favorite (#9) the best but you can't go wrong. read more

Really cool place it's got a limited menu (only pizza and salad) but there is a variety of pizzas and it's really worth it. Disappointing "homemade" sausage that look like sliced hotdogs and overpriced salad and they charge you for extra salad dressing. Was told it was a good Italian owner who made good pizza and we were very disappointed. They could've been friendlier too. They only had two tables of people so God forbid the owner who is making the pizza could've made some small talk when we were so friendly to him and from Italy ourselves which we told him, but which he apparently didn't care about. Pros: Service was good, pizza was tasty and fresh. restaurant was clean and had a lovely ambiance cons: the salad was sparse and took a long time to get to us. The pizza took FOREVER. The restaurant was half full. We got in and immediately ordered, I looked at the menu online. It took over 45 mins for the pizza to even get in the oven. We watched as the owner waited until all the orders were in from the other tables and THEN he put our pizza in. People who came in 50 minutes after us got their pizza at the same time we did. So while I liked the pizza, I won't be going back unless I have 2 hours to kill and I would never order the salad again. read more

Fabulous pizza AND atmosphere. The pizza is ridiculously simple and enjoyable. Don't over do it with toppings, just keep it simple. Get a bottle of wine and take home what you don't finish. Not sure if the intent is to move you along, but it's nice and located right downtown. Tony makes not only the best pizza in all of the Treasure Valley, he makes the best pizza anywhere. Full stop. Period. If you search far and wide you may find pizza as good as Tony's. Maybe. But you won't find any better. Ever. I am a person not given to absolutes or hyperbole, so trust me when I tell you with certainty that Tony's pizza is penultimate! Pizzeria Teatro was our destination dining stop as our first dinner meal on our first "should we move to Boise" tire kicking trip almost six years ago. My husband, who is Sicilian heritage and grew up in an Italian neighborhood in Brooklyn in a household where his grandmother spoke only Italian, said "I'm home" when we walked in the door then. We feel the same way now. (And this is a coincidence, my hubby and Tony went to competing high schools in Brooklyn. Although decades apart for my old'un hubby, he still considers both of them to be guys from the same neighborhood. As New Yorkers are inclined to do, I guess.) No matter what pizza you choose, it will be excellent. The same can be said for the salads. Not to mention a wine list that is 'perfetto' for Italian fit. And it is also the friendly service, lovely art on the walls, and great jazz classics music on the sound system that season the experience. See my first review from 2013 if you find details helpful. But I figured it was worth a review update as it surprises me to find how many people we talk with about superior places to eat in Boise have never heard of Tony's, including people who have lived here far longer than we (of our now five year residency.) Tony's continues to be on our recommendation list for others for destination dining. Also as praise for Tony and his pizza, I share that a few weeks ago while dining at another eatery where pizza is on the menu, the owner sat down with us to ask what we thought of the pizza coming out of his kitchen. This man, who also shares Italian heritage, said he too thought Tony's pizza was extraordinary and if Tony ever retired he was going to ask him for his pizza recipe. "Ah", we said, "But if Tony retires the pizza would never be the same, recipe or not, because there is the hand of the pizza artist in the making of Tony's pies that makes them so deliciously special." The only thing I would change here if I had a magic wand is the location. Parking in this part of downtown is a bear for anyone and in particular for me as I have MS and rely on accessible - aka complies with ADA - parking to be able to park and get out of my car and there isn't much of it in this part of downtown. Plus, I live out in the west side wilds of Eagle. So, if Tony ever wanted to move his pizzeria out to my side of town somewhere with a parking lot, I would be on auto-pilot for weekly dining. read more

Small restaurant, big flavors! Pizzas here are thin crust, brick oven fired, garnished with sun dried tomatoes, caramelized onions, goat cheese, anchovies and such. I tried the Dolce Vita; white sauce, spinach, sun dried tomatoes and goat cheese, very good. No Tiramisu (none for years due to some ladyfingers shortage or something?!!), the only available dessert was a ricotta cheesecake, very good, but at $9 the piece seemed a little overpriced. No coffee either, the coffee machine has been waiting for parts from Italy for o don't know how long! Clearly they've been unlucky with Italian imports! The food was excellent. We had the Primavera pizza, rosemary, focaccia, and Caprese salad. You're welcome, unfortunately upon entering the restaurant they almost they almost refused to seat our party of six so we suggested two separate parties, one of two people and one of four people. They still had a big issue with that. And then Tony and the server had a heated exchange behind us which was uncomfortable to hear. We felt pushed out as blinds were drawn, beverages removed from our table, and door opened to the outside. It was 9:03 pm. My husband and I agreed we'll not eat at Tony's again because of the vibe. read more

100% 5 star pizza! We came here this week while cruising around downtown Boise. We decided to sit outside and were greeted immediately by our super friendly waitress. Looking over the menu we decided on a couple pies which I included in the review. Theses pies were so good nice and thin with crispy crust. The ingredients as well were super fresh and delicious. Our favorite was named 'Favorite" this was more of a tomato base pizza not a lot of cheese which is pretty rare super delicious. I can't add much more besides if you are looking for outstanding pizza in the Boise area then this place is it. When kept simple much like it's humble roots from the mother country it becomes more...it becomes BETTER. Quality crust, pureed tomatoes for the sauce (nothing fancy here just tomatoes), imported cheese, and maybe a topping or two, throw it in a brick oven...Tony's does it right folks. The food tonight for our group of four was excellent, as usual. The 2 star rating is due to the rudeness of Tony, the owner and cook. We were seated at the four top table nearest the kitchen. We ordered two pizzas and one order of bread. When my friend requested a straw for her soda, Tony was heard saying about us, "two pizzas!", and toward my friend who requested the straw, "high maintenance"! Apparently he did not think we had ordered enough this evening. I have been here before and ordered more pizzas for a group of four. Tonight we had dessert waiting for us at one of our homes, and were considering that with our order. Tony gave glaring looks at one of my male friends as he walked back to the table from the restroom, shaking his head at him. When my husband thanked Tony for the meal at the end, he was ignored. Our wait staff was delightful. We did not overstay our visit, but ate and left in less than 1 1/2 hour. Nobody was turned away because we were taking up a table during our visit. This will be my last visit to Tony's. No pizza is worth the rudeness of the host. read more

Lovely place. I don't think many people know the gem that is Tony's. I walked by it and knew instantly I would like it. I love allure, I am a sucker for it. The moment I read the printed out paper that they only serve parties under four I was entranced. Tony's doesn't want you, you want Tony's. There is a pride to its forced intimacy that I admire. A good restaurant without good company is a sad sad thing to experience. I was blessed this night to have both. It is nights like those where the food and company gives life a little bit of airtime; by far the highlight of my week. The food was slick. I was a little lost when it came to the words on the menu because I am not very literate when it comes to menus and ingredients for that matter. It felt as if I was in a labyrinth of potential orders each one seeming to be the right way out. I essentially chose one at random, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I pride myself on being open and honest with my experience; I was a little entranced with my date, they could of brought out my balls deep fried as the entrée and I might of not noticed. In my moments of clarity through, there wasn't a bite I didn't enjoy. Was it the best pizza I have ever had? It's damn close, I will say that much. The food paired with the feeling that you have uncovered a gem of a restaurant makes for a riveting date, and a memorable meal. What a wonderful experience that was. I went to Tony's (located directly across the street from Boise City Hall and next to the Egyptian Theatre) for lunch on Monday, only to find out they're closed that day. I came back the following day and am glad I did. Do you remember Keystone Pizza and their alternating $5 large pizzas, pepperoni one month and fake Canadian Bacon and pineapple the next? Well, this is about as far removed as possible. I got there soon after they opened and ordered a Quattro Stagioni, with imported prosciutto, homemade Italian sausage, asparagus, San Marzzano tomatoes and mozzarella. Tony came by my table and apologized because the brick oven was still a few degrees shy of its optimum baking temperature. The crust was crisp on top and bottom and I said it was fine. He said he didn't want me to wait, but would bake another pizza if I was dissatisfied. I insisted it was fine. And it was. The toppings melded well together. And Tony understands that loading ingredients high on a pizza makes for a bad, soggy pizza. The flavor was marvelous. read more
