I really wanted to like Tavolàta, especially given the reputation for handmade pasta, but the experience fell short of expectations. We walked in around 7 pm and it seems like a slow night. So I expect everything should be good but it wasn't. We ordered food and drinks and start right off with food even came earlier than drink. Obviously server doesn't care. The food came , salad and pasta all together and the ravioli was not even warm. The pasta itself was decent, but nothing memorable. Flavors felt a bit flat, and for the price point, I was expecting something more refined or at least more balanced. Service was also inconsistent. Our server seemed friendly but stretched thin, It didn't feel like anyone was really paying attention to the table. They seems to be paying attention on the phone than the table. And they seem really rush us out when they were only 8.30 pm when they close at 10 pm not sure why they keep asking if we need a box and put down the check right after we got our food. Overall, not a terrible experience, but definitely not one I'd rush back for, especially with other great dining options in Boise.

We hosted a private event here and the service was top notch. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We enjoyed a curated menu and everything was tasty. I'm not a huge pasta fan, and it was fairly good. The espresso martini was delightful. The restaurant is beautiful and the windows bring a nice moody vibe and relaxed feel. It's a nice place to enjoy a meal.

This was delicious! You could taste the pasta was fresh! Service was great and we were able to be sat pretty quickly. They also had a little meeting room area you could rent out. Everything I had was amazing - loved the bread and my pasta!

Great food and ambiance. Open kitchen concept that's always fun to watch. Big bar with a large window that opens up to allow fresh air on beautiful days like this. Service was good and our waiter was helpful with keeping us in tune with the happy hour ending to make sure we didn't miss our opportunity. All pasta is made in-house and it shows. Delicious. You can also watch it being made. Cocktails were great. Beet salad was excellent. We were so hungry that my camera didn't get to eat first! Ripe, juicy, beets with a whipped cheese. Pasta was excellent. Fresh, thick, and cooked perfectly. Meat sauce was delish. Will return.

Food was good but lemon was not included with calamari. I should have just asked for some. My pappardelle was just right for me. The server was fine. She was friendly but did not refill our water. Nice open kitchen concept and quite spacious.

Tavolata makes good cocktails, salads, pasta and dessert. Their reservations systems seems funky. Our reservation was made 2-weeks in advance, for my daughter's birthday...they weren't expecting us, but did have our reservation and asked if I just make it... they sat us by the door...the reservation had notes about our birthday celebration as well, but that was never mentioned either... until we we singing the birthday song... beet salad is banging, the pastas are generous, desserts are good, some are great!

Service 5/5 Food and its flavor 5/5 Price 4/5 Ambiance - casual, good for work dinners, but not high end I came here for a work dinner with a coworker and while the service , the food and their hospitality was amazing I couldn't help but think they could have been priced better than some of the other neighboring restaurants!

We had a great date night at Tavolata this evening. Matt C was our server and gave us the BEST recommendations on cocktails and wine. He gave us the perfect recommendations for food as well. The ambiance is great inside this restaurant. It has a busy happy feel, cute decor for the holidays, and the staff is all extremely friendly. The food was delicious, although we are leaving in a food coma. We ordered one appetizer and two pastas, all 10/10. We will be returning!

First off, service and ambiance was wonderful. Friendly, efficient and right in downtown where there is lots to see. They have a nice patio in a wide alleyway so it feels more intimate. We got the Carbonara and the flavor was delicious. Only feedback and this is more of a preference but the pasta sauce wasn't as thick and was more thin. It also was a bit too salty than expected. To add, the pasta noodle had a harder texture than I thought it would be. Croquettes were on point as well as the cocktails

Came to Tavolàta for a business dinner tonight. I have heard fabulous things about this restaurant and I was very excited to find out we were having dinner here. Walking in, I was greeted by the beautiful hostess. She got me sat at a great table in the middle of the restaurant. It was nice being exposed to the whole experience. After checking out the menu, Taylor, our server greeted me. He got me started on the happy our menu. I took his suggestion and ordered the foccacia bread with the olive oil/ balsamic vinegar dip. For my beverage I grabbed the pineapple house soda. I did start off with the bread without my dinner date. I was hungry! The foccacia bread was delicious and fresh! It was crusty, the middle was the bread was sooooo stuff andthe top was salty and buttery. I did prefer dipping the bread in just the olive oil. The balsamic vinegar was good but the olive oil hit a little more for me. The house soda was tasty! It's not like a normal soda in sweetness. It was clean tasting. Kinda like if you added soda water to some juice. We did also have the marinated olives while we were waiting for dinner. The olives were salty, slightly spicy and buttery. Both the green and kalamata olives were delightful! The pappardelle was also part of the happy hour menu which was nice! Dinner at a happy hour price, I'll take it! The pasta was beautifully plated in a pasta bowl. First looking at it, the sausage and beef was hearty. The pasta were wide and golden colored. The sauce was rich in color. Eating it was delightful! The pasta was perfectly cooked. The ragu was rich and flavorful. It was fantastic! We ended dinner with a nice cup of coffee. A perfect treat at the end of dinner. Besides our whole experience being great, Taylor was extra extra extra great tonight! He did such an amazing serving us tonight, making sure we were ok and happy. We need more servers like Taylor. I think more people would enjoy their dining experiences if they received serve like Taylor's. I look forward to going back and having dinner here again.

My new favorite place for pasta!! They make the pasta fresh every day, which I saw them making myself. I'm in love with the Pappardelle. Beef & pork ragu, mint, and orange, how do they do it?? It was really hard to share this dish! But let's start at the beginning. We ordered a bottle of LES HAUTES RIBAUDES Syrah, the Hamachi Crudo & Beef Carpaccio to start. The carpaccio was perfect! For entrees, of course the Pappardelle and an order of Bucatini Carbonara. The carbonara was also delish, but heavier compared to the pappardelle but to be expected with the thicker noodles. We had no leftovers to take home as it was all so good! The service was also excellent, our server was very nice. We were on a date and the place wasn't too crowded but the tables were a little too close for it to be intimate. But overall, we enjoyed everything and will definitely be back! And if you order one thing, it has to be the Pappardelle, you won't regret it!

At first glance, you would think it's just another Italian restaurant. After giving it a shot, we were pleasantly surprised to experience Tavolàta giving boring Italian dishes their own little twists to keep it interesting. Each component of the dishes had a discernible taste and the textures really worked with each other. I would recommend getting the gnocchi alla romana, and the chicken ricotta meatballs.

From the moment you step inside, the place has that quintessential speakeasy feel. The ambiance is dark, moody, and eclectic, with vintage touches throughout. One feature that really caught my eye was a stunning cove-like structure that added so much character to the space. The menu was just as impressive as the décor -creative, varied, and full of unique cocktails that felt thoughtfully designed rather than your standard bar offerings. They even have a few "secret" drinks hidden on the menu, and the staff will happily tell you how to find them, which is a fun touch.Since another reservation was due to arrive in about 40 minutes, we kept it to two cocktails, which was perfectly fine as we were only stopping in for a nightcap. Both drinks were beautifully crafted. I especially loved The Canvas ,it was bright, refreshing, and memorable. The staff is always attentive and impressively knowledgeable about the drinks. This visit, I tried something different--a whiskey sour served over shaved ice. I loved how perfectly chilled it was; the ice kept the drink from becoming overly sweet as it melted. I typically go for more booze-forward cocktails, so this was a fun change for me. My partner ordered a Toki highball, which was a perfect fit for his keto diet--highly carbonated soda water, Toki Japanese whiskey, and lemon. Clean, simple, and refreshing. A small window in the door opened and we had to provide a password to gain entry. (Initially our large group had to reserve 3 time slots and we would be seated separately.) I was in the first group. We were let into a small area with floor to ceiling bookcases. Of course there was a book that once pulled, opened a secret door to the bar within. The ambiance was dim lighting and groups of comfortable seating areas. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu. I started with a mocktail that could be made vegan by omitting the egg white. Beautifully presented with a flower design. It was sweet and it was tart. The second drink I got was a cocktail that was smooth with a perfect amount of sweet. My friends got cocktails in their unique glasses. When our next group came through, they were led into a room. After a while, one friend came out to say hello to us. The waiter noticed that we knew each other and told my group to follow him. The room was dimly lit and was furnished with comfortable armchairs and couches. Our third group was able to join us in the room and we were able to mingle seated or standing. The different drinks that were ordered were so cool. A smoky bubble was set on top of a cone shaped glass that resembled an ice cream cone. I had a couple of friends that ordered gin drinks and they were served in a bathtub complete with rubber ducky! This was such a fun and special way to celebrate a friend's birthday! The service was superb!

Imagine yourself walking through the 8th St promenade in downtown Boise. It's hustling and bustling with people and restaurants that are packed. Then, out of the corner of your eye, you see an alley. It's kinda dark, maybe a little unsettling at first. You see a steel door with a small panel at the top of the door. No door handles but a green lit old stagecoach light, a small wooden sign hanging g just beyond the door with a key on it. Hmmm, strange. In faded sharpie letters it says Knock knock on the metal door, so you knock twice. The panel on the door slides open and they ask for the password. Whoa!!!! Luckily you called ahead to make reservations so they whispered it to you. You give the password and door opens to a tiny little library with a couple of shelves full of books. The hosts welcomes you and you stare at the bookshelf knowing it isn't just a bookshelf but a door. You try pulling on different books guessing which is the right one but after a minute the hostess shows you and you enter a beautiful brick walled 1920s decorated room with seats and dim lights and no windows whatsoever. The artwork is prohibition-era themed. Heck, there's even a stack of wooden barrels that supposedly hold spirits. That is exactly the speakeasy experience you are looking for. We were seated in the boiler room, a private area which had beautiful wooden lockers with glass doors all lit up and full of booze. Books line the wall and there is an old fireplace covered with candles that have melted wax all over the mantle. In the corner is a poker table. Really the perfect vibe for a speakeasy. Glance at the menu and notice their tang of cheaper to very rare and unique spirits, some costing hundreds of dollars for a shot. Whisky, vodka, rum, gin, scotch, bourbon, you name it. But also check out their cocktails. They can even make mocktails if you don't want alcohol. Not only are the drinks unique but so is their presentation. The glades used I've never seen. Some drinks have a printed pattern on them, others come with dry ice that quickly evaporates or a cool smoked filled bubble. The whole experience was just amazing. This is a do not miss opportunity if you like drinks and cool, unique experiences. They even have another room in the back called the Garrison Room which looks like a mineshaft. I just love the thought put into this place. And when you are done, you exit through a nondescript door and exits to a patio area of another restaurant and back out to the promenade. Just a wow experience! So glad I did it.
