I got a little hungry while Christmas shopping so I stopped in. I was looking for something somewhat healthy. The staff was so friendly and helpful explaining the process of how to make a bowl. I went with the kale salad, Brussels, sweet potatoes, teriyaki chicken and tomatoes. So good! So tasty! Gave the right amount of energy to keep shopping. I wish I didn't have to give a 3 star but here is how I came to that: 5 star for food quality and 2 stars for service. I am attaching 2 photos as evidence. Workers were nice and pleasant but seem to lack experience. Management should bring the trainers from the Palm Beach location to train their staff. Both palm beach locations were on point when I visit. I have visited the two Hollywood locations and both times I've been disappointed at the lack of regard when lacking food options. I should add that the kitchen crew was fast. The issue was with the counter crew requesting food timely. Let's play a game of never have I ever.... Never have I ever been to a Bolay and had to wait for food at every station, the base station, the vegetable station, and the protein station (yes all three). So I walked in here on Thursday January 9th at 4pm and there was no one in line. I thought "this must be my lucky day!" So I walk up to the counter and I see the guy standing there. So I ask for a large bowl with black rice and Asian noodles, the gentleman response was that it would be a while for the noodles. I picked up on him trying to discourage me from getting the noodles. Nonetheless they are my favorite so I asked how long. He explained that it would be a 5-10 minutes wait. I said I would wait. That is when he asked the workers in the back for more noodles. Really? Why has he not asked for this while he was standing there before I reached the counter? Let's move along.... After waiting for my noodles, we move on to the vegetable station where the beans were also almost empty and the broccoli was empty. I would have to wait another five minutes as they requested for the back to provide them the food. What? Again? Why don't they ask for it before the customers are requesting it? So I waited again. After waiting for five minutes or less to be honest. Moving along.... Went got to the proteins station. I wanted chicken and steak, to which I was told I had to wait for steak two minutes.. again?!!! Not this time. I skipped the steak. But I literally waited in every station. This has never happened to me before not at another Bolay Ever (not even at chipotle). This location needs to get their act together or risk ruining the Bolay service reputation. read more

I usually love Bolay but had a bad experience with the Bolay location in Pembroke Pines on Hiatus. It closes at 9pm on Friday and we got there at 8:25pm. Two people in front of us asked for black rice as their base and were told they didn't have any, so they walked out disappointed. I asked for the Asian noodles as my base, and was told they were out. When I looked at all of the bases it looked like almost everything was out and nobody was in the back area cooking anything. I wondered how long they were out of these bases without cooking any more of them (8pm, 8:15pm). I know the staff needs to clean up the restaurant and go home but it would be nice to know that they stop cooking (1/2 hour or an hour) before the posted closing time. read more

Looking for a healthy vegetarian option, we stopped by Bolay for the first time. First impressions were mixed--the large dining room was relatively tidy, but the food prep stations were noticeably messy. We were hungry and had errands to run, so we decided to go ahead and order. I got a bowl with black rice (possibly mixed with another grain?), kale salad, tofu, beans, pickled onions, and tomatoes. Overall, it was okay. The rice and grains were a bit soft--almost mushy--but everything else was fine. We chose to sit outside to enjoy the nice weather, but the patio area felt neglected. Most of the tables were visibly dirty and disorganized, and some had trash from previous customers. I may consider going back for a quick lunch, but I'd only stay if the restaurant was cleaner. read more

While I waited I thought it would be a good opportunity to use the restroom. While one staff directed me to where the restrooms are located, another staff member informed me that both restrooms were out of service. I had a great experience. The owners were in the middle of the restaurant talking and greeted my friend and I with a big smile and invited us in. The staff were very friendly and had smiles on their face. I got a bowl of Tofu, Asian Sweet Potato noodles , kale , garlic mushrooms , chimichurri tomatoes, pickled onions and cilantro. Washed everything done with a Pineapple-Ginger juice. It was delicious. The restaurant was clean and tidy. Plenty of natural light, which I love. My order was not ready when I arrived & to make matters worse, one of the order was also wrong which meant they had to remake it. Love this place! The staff is always so friendly I feel at home here. Located in front of the Hollywood Target across from the Poliece station and beside Starbucks is Bolay. This brilliant chain started with the Outback founders and has since multiplied and finally- I am happy to say they are in Hollywood now. Clean fresh industrial style interior and nice patio seating with umbrellas is so inviting. Smart concept of Only Gluten free products and they are fully cooked and kept hot in front of you cafeteria -style. So you can pick out whatever you think looks good and you can even have a sample to see if you like it. Start off by picking a size bowl . I love to try more with the large bowl. I get two bases, two veggies and two proteins with tomatoes , cilantro, Parmesan shreds , and a half an avocado is for a small up charge. There are also sauces you can top your bowl with and made fresh everyday like everything else here. My fav base is the glass noodles that are made of sweet potato and tossed in a Thai chili sauce. I also love the black forbidden rice and the Jasmine rice. I sometimes have the kale salad as part of the base. My fav veggies are broccoli and the Brussels sprouts are so tender always ! They are fully cooked and have a smokiness to them. I also love the drinks here. No artificial colors and sweetened with cane sugar. My go-to is the green tea and I sweeten it with the lemonade and the orange drink... so good!! Don't forget to get a chocolate chip cookie they are just perfect soft a bit chewy and yes Gluten Free too! The straws, bowls and bags are compostable which is always great for the environment. The service is fast at this brand new location! The food is delish and so happy to see this establishment expanding East because driving out West was a mission but always worth the happy tastebuds. I would highly recommend the cilantro noodles with the lemon chicken. My favorite veggies to add are the kale and zucchini. They're both seasoned well and healthy options to your bowl. This is my first time eating inside this Bolay, I usually just have it delivered and I have to say I'm a little disappointed on how dirty the tables were when I walked in. I did come in right after what I assume was the lunch rush. There were bowls stacked on tables and not a clean table in sight. By the time I had finished ordering my Bol they were just starting to get tables cleaned up. The restaurant emptied out as I ate and the staff got everything back in order. I'm freaked out! I had just ordered food, I ate about half of it until I see a weird small thing sticking out of the black rice I purchased. I used to love bolay and perhaps it is just this location. I thought it was possibly a hair, which even if that's the case, still very nasty. However; I asked serval others who were near me and all had told me it looks like an insect antenna I'm disgusted. Not to mention disappointed. I would go to another location or not support this business anymore. How is something like this over looked? How does the kitchen look in the back?
