    Wings platter
    Ilene F.

We have been to the Pompano location a few times and honestly that one was closer to where we were but we were driving our truck and quite frankly that parking lot is horribly designed so we save it for during the week when they aren't as busy. We decided to try the Hollywood location and while parking was easier, we had no idea how small the location is and how claustrophobic we would feel. I felt glued to our table. I don't how how the servers do it as the spacing is not comfortable. My husband originally ordered a chicken breast sandwich with sweet potato planks. A few minutes unto waiting and he was told there is no more chicken - at all, other than wings. So he opted for the wings platter. They were a nice size and he enjoyed it. He got the sauce on the side, along with ranch on the side. The platter came with a nice amount of carrots and celery too. The ranch & buffalo sauces were definitely not enough for 12 wings. He really couldn't ask for more because the next time we saw a sever was when a different server was handing us a check (that was wrong) My daughter got a smash burger with just cheese. She liked it. She got it with fries and liked it too. I had the power omelet. I asked for no tomato and no onion and the egg white well done. The egg whites were not well done, but cooked enough. This is my favorite omelette. It has turkey in it and it is so flavorful. I had an ice coffee. No one asked about refilling any of our drinks. So...service was friendly but no one really followed up once we had our food. Space is very tight and I felt like I was sitting with the people around me. I would rather fight with the parking lot in pompano vs the tiny space in Hollywood.

We were in the Hollywood area last month to drop off our dogs before our trip to Chicago. We were hungry and in the mood for a good Southern brunch. I checked my Yelp and up popped this restaurant. I'm glad it did because the food was very good. The vibe was Southern, rustic, casual, and charming. The chefs in the kitchen were friendly and waved to us as we were leaving. I thought that was a nice touch. The place was empty when we got there but filled up by the time we were leaving. Everyone was in a good mood. There was country music playing in the background without being too loud. We were served by Katrina, who was friendly and helpful with their menu. We had the Smoked Brisket Melt, which was delicious and a generous portion of it, like it should be. The fries were crispy and seasoned properly. The coleslaw was fresh and good. Everything there is home-made. For dessert, we shared the Creme Brulee pancakes. You need to try those, yummy! Parking is right out front with wheelchair accessibility. We plan to return for their breakfasts next time.

Stopped by on a weekday morning to get some breakfast since I'd heard such great things about this spot. The restaurant aesthetic was super cute and is located in a plaza so easy parking nearby. As a party of 2, we were sat immediately and our server got our order relatively fast. We were upset to find out they ran out of biscuits especially bc it was still so early so me and another patron were confused. I ordered the breakfast with 1 waffle, bacon, turkey links (extra charge on the side) & scrambled eggs. The food took a bit of time to come out, i believe 1 couple left because it was taking too long. It made me skeptical to ever run, much less over the weekend when more people are off from work. It doesn't help its very small inside. Overall the food was good and our server made sure to come by and tell us "food will be out shortly." However, i don't think it's worth a return.

We stopped by on a Saturday for brunch and it was packed. The wait was about 30-45 mins for a table for 2. I've seen this place talked about often and wanted to try it ourselves. It is a smaller spot but has plenty of parking in the plaza. We ordered the pig pen omelette and the full breakfast waffle. The omelette is stuffed with pulled pork along with ham, sausage, and bacon. It was pretty good and quite filling. Probably the most meaty omelette I've had. The full breakfast waffle was your typical brunch style meal with eggs, bacon, sausage, and a waffle. Overall, it was a good for brunch. If you are in the area, its a good spot to stop by if the wait isn't too long.

Just happened to be in the area and found this southern kitchen! Smaller spot but was packed for weekend brunch, walk in only. We waited about 40mins but it was worth it. The portion sizes are huge! Two people shared the fried green tomatoes and the brisket skillet and we still had leftovers. Will be coming back and will probs be getting the pancakes (they looked phenomenal)!

We stopped by The Hen and the Hog not knowing quite what to expect, and honestly... it ended up being a really pleasant surprise. Everything we had was genuinely good and we'd definitely come back. First things first: the pancakes are HUGE. Seriously, if you're ordering one as a side, know that one pancake is easily enough for two people to share. We also tried the Secret Lemonade -- and for anyone wondering, "secret" basically means it's made in-house. It was fresh and tasty, but definitely on the sweeter side, so just be prepared if you don't typically like very sweet drinks. I ordered the chicken biscuit sandwich and really loved the flavor. The chicken was well seasoned, the biscuit was great, and overall it was delicious. My only small critique is that the portion feels a little small on its own, so I think it would be nice if it came with a side or something accompanying it. My husband is plant-based, and we appreciated that there was an option for him. He ordered the avocado toast along with a modified salad from the menu, which worked out well. Overall, solid spot with flavorful food.

Cute as a button with indulgent southern comfort dishes to fill your belly. I loved the giant pancake, which in addition to our meals was enough for 3 people to enjoy. Fluffy and sweet and not dry. Although I enjoyed my fried chicken biscuit enough to eat it all, it fell a tad short of my expectations. The biscuit and chicken were both lacking volume, the biscuit not fluffy enough and chicken not meaty enough. I couldn't pick it up without it all just crumbling apart. Menu claimed homemade biscuits, but maybe not made fresh that day? Chicken was wide but thin so every bite was just way too much breading and very salty. I would order something else next time. It's a teeny but charming restaurant that was packed when we got there. Luckily we were first on the list so got a table in 5 minutes. If there had been more people and a longer wait, downside is there's no room more than 2 people to stand and wait inside, and it was way too hot to have waited outside. Parking lot has plenty of space around back. All in all, it was a fun and cute spot to take my old folks for a family meal.

Came here for breakfast with my friend on Saturday. I've heard amazing things about this place so def wanted to try it out. It was PACKED!!! 30 min to wait for a table. Good for business! Overall, I find the place overhyped. Was basic and overpriced in my opinion for what you get. Restaurant was cute. I ordered an eggs Benedict which for 17 bucks I find a little pricey. The coffee was another 6 bucks and was small and not great. I wouldn't come back but glad I finally face the place a try.

Came here for breakfast Saturday morning and it was jam packed. I wish this location would take reservations since the inside is small. We got lucky and got seated quickly. We started with iced coffee. I wasn't a fan but I would try the hot coffee next time. We then had the fruity pebble French toast. The hype was real with this item and it's huge. Finally we shared the brisket bowl and secret lemonade. The brisket bowl was even better than the fruity pebble French toast. I would definitely come back Just to try another brisket item. The secret lemonade was good, but not something I would order again. Overall we loved our meals and I can't Walt to come back and try the lunch items next time.

After eating in there other location in Pompano we decided to try the Hollywood location. We probably won't be back. We felt like a sardines in the can. It's very small inside. I felt like the tables next to us were sitting with us. The service lacks a bit, the servers were wonderful, but not very attentive to there tables. The food! It's just as good as the Pompano location. My daughter loved her burger and my wife enjoyed her omelet. As for me I had a chicken wings platter. I got it with the sauce on the side. The wings were a very nice size and cooked perfect. It came with a good amount of celery, carrots sticks and ranch dressing. They definitely didn't skimp there. Although I could of used some more sauce for the wings. I originally wanted a chicken sandwich, but they ran out of chicken breast, around 1pm, the restaurant is open 8pm. There is one other thing, the parking lot. The one in Pompano sucks, the one in Hollywood is fantastic!

This is our amazing server Andrew, if you go ask for him.

If there's one breakfast spot you need to check out, it's The Hen & The Hog. Every time we drove past, the line was out the door, so we finally decided to stop in for brunch--and now we know why it's always packed. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with avocado and bacon, and it was absolutely amazing. My husband went with the Smashburger and house fries, and he loved every bite. Our server Andrew was awesome--friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. The host staff was just as great: welcoming, helpful, and clearly running a tight ship. While we were there, I couldn't help but notice all the food coming out to other tables. The pancakes, breakfast bowls, and everything else looked incredible. Great food, great service, and a lively atmosphere--this place definitely lives up to the hype.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast luckily they were able to sit us quickly. The place is very tiny and by the time we were done it was already crowded. The food was ok...I enjoyed the grits and home fries. The omelette was ok but would have been better if I switched the cheese to cheddar. I was disappointed with the pancake, it was really large but dry and thin. I did like the fact that the food is made fresh to order though. If in the area would probably give them another shot

I'm Being Generous Because I'm Feeling Merciful. Thursday morning in Hollywood, Florida. Sun out. Expectations low but hopeful. What I got instead was a brunch experience that felt like it was catered by a support group for defeated condiments. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was less "welcoming brunch haven" and more "mandatory staff meeting after a corporate downsizing." Every face looked like someone had just canceled Christmas. No energy. No warmth. Just a collective sadness hovering over the dining room like humidity. We waited 35 minutes for a table. Not at peak Sunday madness. Thursday. And not a "sorry for the wait, we'll take care of you." Just... waiting. Existing. Aging. Let's talk food. I ordered avocado toast. What arrived was not avocado toast. It was what I can only assume was premashed supermarket paste, the kind sold in bulk tubs at a discount warehouse. No texture. No brightness. No seasoning. Just green matter applied to bread like drywall compound. It tasted like someone described avocado to a machine and the machine got bored halfway through. The waffle? Arrived cold. Not warm-ish. Not "let it sit too long." Cold. The fruit portion was microscopic--three decorative pieces placed with the confidence of someone billing by the berry. And yes, they were happy to charge for it. Cold waffle. Extra charge fruit. That's not brunch. That's audacity. Drinks? Watered-down Pepsi products. I don't even dislike Pepsi on principle, but when it tastes like it survived a hurricane of melted ice, we have a problem. I asked for water. It never came. Not once. No check-in. No recovery. No "how is everything?" Because that would require interest. There is literally nothing good about this place. Not the food. Not the service. Not the mood. They don't serve comfort. They don't serve quality. They serve matter. Plain matter. Temperature optional. Two stars because technically it exists and the building is standing. If you enjoy cold waffles, green paste, and existential despair with your brunch--this is your cathedral. I don't need apologies. I need a refund and a time machine.

Super disappointed with this place…read more Pros: The potatoes and eggs were good & the hot sauce has great flavor! Cons: First thing I did was use the restroom which had a horrible smell and the toilet needed cleaning. The service was good at first then fell off after we ordered our food- which was strange because it was not busy at all. We ordered the screwdriver & peach Bellini to drink. Steak & eggs and the Untoasted breakfast + side of ham. The screwdriver had an odd taste & the ham was extremely soft/squishy/seemed uncooked internally. The steak was not cooked well- but acceptable enough to eat. Our server never checked on us after we got our food which sucks because we needed a few things. A different server ended up walking by much later and asked if we needed help which is when I told her I'd like to send back the ham and screwdriver- both of which I barely took a bite/sip out of. I just told her I didn't like them and she got a bit of an attitude and wanted specifics as to why I didn't like it. I just reiterated i didn't like it and won't be consuming either so please take it back. We finished our food and no one ever came to our table again- while the workers were walking around helping the 5 other tables or talking amongst themselves. After sitting for 15+ minutes with our finished food, I just went to the front and waited for someone to check us out. I don't recommend this place and will not be back.

You pull into a plaza where everything else is closed except for this business and say hi to the security guard stationed at the entrance of the place---at 11 AM---to walk into a lounge beautifully decorated with green walls, floral accents and a disco ball. It is clear that the majority of patrons come much later in the day, like after 9 PM, to get bottle service listening to a DJ or any other performer. This would explain why the air conditioning was cranked so high, to accommodate the bodies and electricity that would pack the place much later. Our server didn't crack a smile but immediately brought us water after we asked and rounded back twice to take our order. Like I said, going during the day when there are only about 5 other parties dining seems to be the move for prompt service and food preparation. The dishes came out super hot and fresh. The Creole Seafood Omelette ($26) was chock full of well seasoned shrimp and lobster and cheese, with a creamy roux on the side that was good to occasionally dip a bite into but wasn't necessary all the time. The potatoes that came on the side were just the right amount of crispy while leaving some heartiness to them. The Fried Chicken and Waffles ($26) included flavorful fried chicken with breading that didn't quit when you tore it or cut into it. The cool part of this dish is the choice you have of the waffle it comes with. The Cookies and Cream Waffles should be your go-to. They were topped with the chocolate cookie sandwich crumbles and a great homemade vanilla icing. For a Lauderhill establishment in an area where you really don't know of anything else happening, this place is worth a venture out for your brunch. I'd go back to try the other items and drinks!
