I had a cataract removed from my right eye. Bolling encountered a "floppy iris" during this surgery. My iris was damaged. There is equipment the surgeon can have ready to deal with a floppy iris, but, as Bolling himself said, it isn't cost effective. So disregard claims of "state of the art" equipment. Furthermore, at my day after surgery appointment Bolling's first words were, "You're right on target." It was only after I said I couldn't see much with my right eye that he explained the floppy iris. Bolling then told me that he could perform laser surgery to "clean up" what he was unable to finish in the original surgery. I paid $268 out of pocket (and I suppose my insurance paid a lot more) but the laser surgery did no good. He then explained that when I got my glasses it would be much better. And, he would give them to me at his cost. I still had to pay $348 out of pocket and the glasses do no good. I have a cataract in my left eye but Bolling will not touch it. read more

totally unhappy with my entire experience here I went to see Dr. Kevin Egan. He did my exam and said that my eyes had got better. Reduce my contact lenses when I tried to use them I couldn't see went back to my old prescription. Had to pay more and I'm still waiting for a refund on my contacts will never use never use center again I have an appointment in the new year at another optical center it will be interesting to see the results. I had Clear Lens Exchange surgery performed on July 22nd. Even though I didn't have cataracts I was seeking an option to eliminate or reduce my dependency on glasses. Since the surgery wasn't medically necessary, I paid 100% out of my own pocket for the surgery. I had Radial Keratotomy (RK) eye surgery in the late 1990's and that presented in itself some additional considerations for me when selecting surgical options. I am based in South West Michigan and met with 6 or 7 different practices in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Ann Arbor, and Michiana (I.e. South Bend, Elkhart, etc.). Boling Vision Center listened to what my goals and expectations (I.e. outcomes) were for having the surgery. I was very impressed during my initial consultation with Cindy prior to setting up an office visit to meet with the Dr. After consulting with the Dr., we reviewed multiple options and it was determined it would be best to wait for 6 months to see what lens advancements / new product launches would be available. At nearly the 6 month mark I received a call from Dr. Boling who explained the details surrounding a new lens that had been approved by the FDA. After speaking with the Dr. I returned for a quick office visit followed by surgery the following week. I am beyond happy that we waited for the new lens to become available. The surgery for both eyes was completed the same day and I didn't experience any pain whatsoever. The surgical staff who I worked with during the prep and post-op were extremely professional and very good. The post-op included follow up visits the following day, 1 week out, and 1 month out. At this time, my vision is clear and I do not need to wear glasses whatsoever. The benefits of this surgery should last the rest of my life. Even though the surgery was not covered by Insurance, to me it was worth the cost. I can't say enough about my positive experience with Boling Vision Center. Everything from the initial consultation to the surgery, and the post-op follow up appointments has been great. I have now met with multiple doctors from this practice and I can tell you they have all been extremely thorough and detail oriented. Dr. Richard Boling, the surgeon who performed my surgery is seriously an Amazing Dr. and someone I immediately felt comfortable with. Another plus for me was to see that Boling Vision Center is committed to the latest technology/innovations in eye care. Selecting the right practice for me to have my eye surgery was something which was extremely important to me. I invested a good amount of time in meeting with different practices as well as researching all of the different types or surgical options available. They were absolutely amazing! There was a bit of a wait time, but that's because they are so popular, and the reason for that became very clear to me with the welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and most thorough eye exam I've ever had. They addressed the reason for my very watery eyes, which I had always chalked up to allergies. They don't have a huge selection of frames to choose from, but the have a virtual try-on option, so I am able to take as much time as I want selecting my frames from home. I have Fuch's dystrophy. A condition that keeps my eyes from flushing properly (there's a more technical explanation, but suffice it to say, it makes it harder for me to see at night or with bright lights). Doctor Richard Boling could not have been more graceful and patient in addressing my needs. When the time came for my surgery, Dr. Boling performed the procedure expertly and my vision is the best it has been in more than 40 years. I had Lasik back in 2019 and it could have gone better. As a staff everyone is very friendly but I would not recommend the surgery or do it again. Unfortunately my vision wasn't 20/20 after the procedure and it took my eyes around 6 months to stop being dry and itchy. As a healthy young 22 year old it was my first ever problem with dry eyes. As my eyes are not very good during dusk or at night I called in to see if I would be able to get a pair of glasses on the house. They offered to redo my $4k surgery but said no to the glasses. None the less I do not need to wear glass or contacts on a daily basis just a little bummed overall with the experience. read more

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Walker always treats me like I am the most important person while doing the exam. He makes sure that I understand what he is saying and gives me the options. Billing nightmare! Talked to office and was ensured that my insurance was accepted for cataract surgery and after waiting weeks to get in and taking off work was told after my exam that my insurance was not accepted for surgery only for exam. The Dr. Walked us over to the insurance department and told them to file insurance and accept what they paid and don't bill her. A month later I receive a bill for Co pay, I immediately call the office explain the situation and was told since my insurance paid I have to pay the co pay. First I waste my time going to them when my insurance does not cover their office then I have to see another Dr., Wait longer to get in when I was having difficulty with my vision, take off work again and pay another go pay. WOW! Talk about taking advantage of a patient, lying about insurance coverage and billing my insurance after they provide a service that is not even covered and charge me for it read more

My eyesight is absolutely horrible. When my doctor in Warsaw retired, I went to a doctor (not Boling Vision Center) in Goshen that did not do a good job. I then went to see Dr. Walker at Boling Vision Center in Elkhart. They have up-to-date equipment, good doctors and very helpful and courteous staff. I recommend them to my friends and family. I always get my contacts there because if my prescription changes, I can return unused ones for credit or trade them for the correct prescription. I took my eyeglass prescription to another place to have my glasses made because the other place advertised cheaper prices. The problem is, they put the bifocal line in the wrong place, and the glasses were barely usable. Going to stick with Boling Vision Center for my glasses, too. I only wear them a couple times a month, but when I need them, I need them to be done right. I will pay a little extra to get them done right the first time. read more
