This place is huge! But I digress....my fav is the blue cheese burger with bacon and the 1/2 steer burger.

This place is as low budget, disgusting, unhealthy, un kept, unsanitary as you can get.. There are more employees there then customers on a Friday night, they are all old locals with an attitude and the food is disgusting, obviously they're not ready for change in Lakeside... I had a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and it cracked my Crown and they would not accept any responsibility there is something seriously wrong with that food. My friend had the chicken wings and said they were disgusting he got them less then 3 minutes after he ordered them there is something seriously wrong there... Just went with my family for lunch. That is an almost 2 hours I'll never get back. We walked in... no greeting. Had to ask if we just seat ourselves.. from the kitchen they answered yes. We sat ourselves at a sticky round booth. After 15 minutes someone brought us menus. 10 minutes later took our drink order. 25 minutes later appetizer (potato skins) came out. The girl sets them on the table with 3 plates... and says " sorry we ran out of plates"... I responded with well we are 5 people so we need two more plates..??? Like really??? 5 minutes later the lady brought us a stack of small paper plates. Tons of dirty tables as a people had left. So instead of washing some dishes we got paper plates. Stopped in at this one for the first time. Loved it! The chicken ceasar salad was HUGE! And it came with Texas Toast. They have a different list of Burgers than the ones I've been to before. And I may just have to try the Grilled Cheese Bacon Cheeseburger next time I come in. read more

I have been there maybe 3-4 times and it always has been only fair when it comes to service. Tonight was really bad.... walked in and waited to be seated and no one even came up to ask how many, or say seat yourself we will be with you in a minute. So went and seated myself got a menu from a pile on stacked up...... and then the wait started. No one even came by table, the bad part is they were hanging out behind bar shooting the breeze with folks at counter. The food was good, or else they would have 0 stars from me. They are severely understaffed here. There was nobody in line, and it took 15 minutes to be seated. When we were seated, our table was covered with used cups and plates. It took them another 20 minutes to swing by a menu, and then another 45 minutes to receive our drinks. After being there for about 1 hr 45 minutes, we received our food. It was great! But our waitress never even introduced herself, and she never even checked back up on us after we received our food. This place saved my Birthday night! We'd gone to West Coast BBQ and Brew and couldn't get served waving a $100.00 bill! So after an hour of trying to get a seat then trying to get served we left and wound up here Boll Weevil. They were very busy with what appeared to be a fund Raiser and socker folks but we got seated right away. "Helen" our Waitress got me a beer and drinks right away, took our order and our food appeared magically in just a few minutes, just enough time to have a couple of beers. "Helen" bought me a beer for my Birthday, gave us great service in the middle of lots of other things going on, I was completely satisfied! I grew up in east county and always love going to boll weevils as a kid. Today I took my kids and family to eat and from the poor service to the over crisp fries and onion rings and cold food i have to say this location does not live up to the boll weevils name. Food is really good we got fries corn dog teriyaki chicken sandwich cheese squares and avocado burger. I love how they bring you yellow peppers mustard ketchup pickles thousand island I am such a condiment girl! My daughter liked playing the few games that were there and they have tvs with the games on. I went on a thursday night so there was not to many people there made it nice for a relaxing way to wrap up the week. waitress was super nice! If I could give this place a -5 it would be a definite! Food was cold and so was the service! I have never been to a place where management is okay with kids running in an establishment but I think alot of it was the parents not controlling there kids. I have been here several time in the course of the last year. And I have tried many of the burgers on the menu. The Avo-Bacon Steerburger is delicious. The Chili Size Steerburger is a perfect balance of flavors and meat! And it goes great with bacon crumbed on top!!! The french fries are good, a bit dry though. This can be remedied by ordering cheese fries, chili cheese fries, or the seasoned curly fries. All in all the food is pretty good here. The service is a bit shaky, something I've noted with a lot of the Lakeside businesses in general. Seems if you are not a Lakeside resident, you don't always get the best service. However, as happened last night, if the back of the house messes up your order, they will remake it no questions asked. Someone royal messed up my order, forgot half the ingredients, including the extra cost items. When I phoned Boll Weevils to point out the mistakes the front end hostess first listened to my issues then offered to remake the entire order, promptly without my request for a remedy. Came to this boll weevil for my sisters birthday. We agreed to arrive at 1pm. Our party was at the restaurant by 1:15. At 2:15 the order went in, and after my brother in law had to go to the manager to see where our food was did it finally come out, at 2:40. We sat for almost an hour and a half waiting for food. When the waitress came by to see how we were doing before she even took out order that was strike two. Then when the waitress argued about when we came in and what time the food was time stamped, that was strike three. My wife and I went to the new Boll Weevil in Lakeside the other day for lunch. Last time we were in this building was back when it was The Cotton Patch and we had a horrible experience then. So hoping for a better experience we went to check out the new Boll Weevil. It was like night and day compared to last time. Our server was friendly and our food was great. I came here with my friend last night and I was slightly disappointed. To start this review off positively, the food here is absolutely fantastic! I got the 2 for $20 with the mozzarella triangles (which were wonderful) as the appetizer and the fried shrimp and fries which were surprisingly filling. What I am displeased by is the service. The waitress that was supposed to be assigned to our table (young brunette woman) seldomly came back to check on how we were doing so I had to bother another waitress who just happened to pass by more often to check on her tables. Usually Bol Weevil has great food and I really enjoy coming here but they had absolutely awful service today. They were not very busy but they were constantly neglecting giving my boyfriend and I service. For starters, we waited a good 15 minutes for them to take our order while they took the orders of the two tables next to us (who arrived after us) a long time before they got to us. The food itself was very very mediocre whenever they're usually pretty good. The worst part was that the food made me feel awful after eating it, and we just wanted to leave. We asked the waitress for a box and ten minutes later we are sitting and waiting for a box and she still hasn't brought it. We ask another waitress for a box and she doesn't bring one either! They were both sitting at the front counter on their PHONES and CHIT CHATTING and couldn't even bother to bring us a box. It wasn't even busy in there at all and they completely neglected to take care of us. Absolutely awful service and an absolute waste of money for lunch. We will not be returning. read more
