I really wanted to enjoy my first visit there after it reopened. But alas we had problems. Our server was great and friendly . My complaint? From the time we ordered our two burgers, a hotdog and basket of fries until we got our food was 40 minutes. It was a Tuesday night and busy but not packed. My son's food was cold when it arrived. This is absolutely the worst experience ever!! I will never be coming back here again! We have brought 15 people here over an hour ago and are just now receiving drinks. No one gave us menus, or helped us get enough tables together to accommodate our group and we had to do it ourselves after waiting 30 min and no one acknowledging our request for more chairs or tables. I am extremely disappointed and will never return!!!!!!! Not to mention on top of all of this we had reservations!!!! We went here because it was right around our apartment complex. The first time we came here the food was okay. I was in tonight with my family and we received very bad service from our waitress she would walk right past us like we did not even existed. All I can say is DISGUSTING! This place is filthy, waitresses are not super friendly, the cooks stare out into the restaurant -"at you in an uncomfortable manner. I went there tonight with my boyfriends family of 8 (not by my choice) and I said to myself "I'll take one for the team" since I already have had a bad experience years ago. So everyone ordered and I decided to get a side Caesar salad with no tomato - well the waitress was bringing our salads and noticed that my salad had tomato in it and she then proceeded to stick her fingers into my salad and took it out and said "here you go". My jaw dropped! I couldn't believe that this women stuck her fingers (with no gloves) into my salad!!! REALLY?! So I place it to the side and kindly said no thank you. She then said I'll make you another one - I kindly decline and she comes back with the same salad tossed around. Really? They did not make me a fresh one she also didn't offer to take it off the bill. She also brought 2 plates of nachos for his family members- one of the orders their chips were over cooked and the other one was under cooked. Was in there a few nights ago within less than a minute the waitress was at my table asking me what I wanted to drink and handing me a menu came back with the tray they give you which I love pickles. Took my order and didn't have to wait long at all for my food... The waitress was fast and friendly even gave me insight to what I wanted to order since I was having a hard time picking. She even gave me a new thing of pickles and a to go cup when I was ready to go:) read more

The food is good, I get the 1/2lb with bacon. Although on the huge half pound burger, there's only one little slice of cheese sitting on a patty twice its size, and only 2 pieces of bacon. The service is okay, although they arent very attentive and a lot of times I've been there, there's some sort of kids sports team running around and yelling while throwing food at eachother. My husband and I and several of our friends are regulars at this Boll Weevil location! We usually come on Sunday's after church, but have come by some weekday evenings too. We enjoy the 'local flavor' of the decor, and find it a very 'home-style' atmosphere where we can relax and watch Indy racing, or football on one of the many flat screen t.v.'s they have. We come back for the food! We LOVE the burgers and we each have our favorite. They are always cooked to order and are juicy and hot! Onion rings are crispy, yummy and beer battered, fries are always hot and fresh. The corn fritters are a delicious alternative to fries too. There are other good items on the menu, but we come back for the beef! We are always greeted and served with a smile, have great service and conversation with the staff, and they keep the iced tea coming when the glass is half full. The manager Bridget knows us by name and makes sure we have a great meal each time we come! In short we give this place a double thumbs up!!! read more

First off ive been to this location bout 10 times, I have zero complaints about the food. This review is about the condition of your restaurant. Im not saying do a total remodel but every bench in this location has tape covering holes, I saw wires coming out of the wall exposed towards the ceiling and what really got me was the fact that I could actually smell the dirty old carpet. Like I said I have zero complaints about the food and you are closer to me then the Santee location but until a lil remodel goes down I will be driving the extra 10-15 minutes to go to the Santee location. read more

I stopped by here after going to Past and Present to pick up an item from an auction. I'm not from the area and had a 2 and a half hour drive back home, so I wanted some lunch before I headed home. I recalled seeing this place the last time I was in the area for the same thing, so I thought I would give it a shot. Upon entering at around shortly after 1pm, it wasn't crowded. I had trouble deciding on just a basic half pound steer burger, or the A1Wonderful burger. The server was polite, she's been there for many years and suggested the A1Wonderful. Not holding back, I went big with the 1/2 pounder! I'm glad she did suggest it, that burger was absolutely awesome. It was messy and I ended up having to finish it with a fork, but it was great. 3 slices of pepperjack, american and chedder cheese with a green chile, A1 sauce and sour cream. I loved the condiment tray that allows you to customize the rest of your burger exactly how you want...which with me means extra pickles and a few on the side. The fries were also very delicious, cooked perfectly. The burger was so hot, I actually had to let it sit a minute to be able to hold it. The one hiccup I had was that my glass was almost out of my drink before I had finished, I like my glass to be kept full, but the server had offered to refill my glass as she picked up my mostly empty plate. She obliged me with a to go cup which kept my thirst at bay for my drive home. I'm glad I tried this place and being that I seem to always get something from that nearby business every so often, I think I'll make this my regular stop before I jump back on the freeway. The atmosphere is dated, but I don't mind that, it's like an old fashioned burger joint from the 70's/80's. I give this Restaurant The Pulp Fiction burger award. In the words of Jules: "MMMMM! Not too busy with plenty of tables available.We sat ourself and a waitress stopped by and cleared the table from the previous guests. we sat for over 15 min with no one taking our drink order or asking us if we had been helped. I'm kind of a pain, so asked for a garlic butter bacon burger, but with a veggie patty and a different kind of cheese, no eye rolls or hesitation at all which I appreciate, because I know I'm annoying. We go to Boll Weevil quite often. It's usually a Wednesday and lately we have been getting the same waitress. Unfortunately she isn't a good waitress. She seems to be so busy doing her "closing duties" that she forgets about her tables. Multiple trips there we have had her and always have to ask the other waitress for refills or for something else we may need. It's not even busy at the time we are there. This last trip We have decided that next time we will ask for a different waitress. We gave her a few chances in hopes that maybe she just had a bad night but so far each time brought us the same experience. It bums me out because its so convenient and the good is good. read more

Actually, I felt sorry for the staff...there was a 20+ group w/lots of kids, another group of 9 w/unruly kids, and an employee hadn't shown up. BUT the staff that was there did their very best to keep everyone happy...with NO bussing! I'm not a meat eater, but the onion rings are the best I've ever had...that's why I love this place! The quality of the fare at the Lakeside location has been going downhill for a couple of years. I'm a caregiver and one of the places the old gent I take care of likes to go is out for a hamburger. Tonight he wanted a Boll Weevil hamburger, but didn't feel up to going out. So, I thought I'd order a to-go order. It took 6 calls to get my order taken. I was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I arrived in 15 minutes, and paid for my order. 10 minutes later, I was still waiting, and had to run down a waitress to have them check on my order. While they got the order correct, the burgers and fries were both soggy, like they'd been waiting and reheated. I'll never make that mistake again. I was charged several dollars over the stated price, and the service was SO bad, we'll probably never eat there again. read more

I came in with my family at the same time another group did as well and they were served and gone before my order was taken an hour and forty five minutes later. Our waitress would take three drink orders and then run away without taking the other half of my groups drink order. We went through three refills before the lady would stand still enough to get out good order and we still waited for the lunch rush that came in after us to leave before being served. I'm embarrassed for brining my family to a place where the service is so slow and disorganized and wouldn't take the responsibility for their lack of attention to customers by putting the blame on other parties. There was also a stench so bad we were ready to get up and walk out at that point, even my three year old son was feeling sick from it. I just ordered over $40 worth of food from Lakeside Boll Weevil! I have NEVER had an issue before & I am VERY DISAPPOINTED! The nachos were soggy & stale chips, wing dings over cooked, french fries under cooked & mushroom burger had no flavor! Plus, I tried to order a wing ding basket & a chicken strip basket! I tried to call for a take-out order but the phone kept going to a message that didn't even say it was Boil Weevil, just "We can't take your call right now". I decided to go there and order. It was not crowded but I sat and waited and no one looked me or spoke to me. The few people that were there appeared to be looking for someone to take their orders. We love Boll Weevil in lakeside. The burgers there are fantastic. The atmosphere is simple but nice, it is a burger joint. They do have big screen tv's to watch sports on. When we have guests from out of town, we take them to Boll Weevil's and they love it also. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. If you are in Lakeside, stop and get a great burger. read more

Victor, Why would it take 2+ hours for a group of 10 who decided to eat in your restaurant for a fundraiser, to order, eat and leave when you have less than 1/2 of it occupied? With 8 waitresses, why would ANYONE have to wait for a menu, to order, to get napkins or anything else for that matter except for their food to be cooked poorly? I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old, if it ever takes more that 1 hour MAX for my family to order eat and leave, then this is not the restaurant for us. Honestly, I would NOT consider this restaurant to be kid friendly in the least. You cannot expect small children to sit in a restaurant for 2 hours and not destroy the place. I guess I'm having a hard time understanding how a group that chose this location for a fundraiser would not have the red carpet laid out for them and every available waitress tending to their needs. Why didn't the manager continually check on this party to ensure that they were being taken care of and to address any concerns that they may have and resolve them right away? Personally Victor, I thought that your reply to this issue was extremely unprofessional! Why would you choose this public forum to tell a customer that they are wrong about the lack of service, poor quality of food and apparent lack of professionalism? I believe you handled this situation poorly. What ever happened to the phrase "the customer is ALWAYS right"? I would think that being in this industry where your livelihood depended on the satisfaction of ALL customers and potential customers it would raise your willingness to rectify the situation. Since you have chosen this public forum to defend yourself and your restaurant, then please explain why the person who was in charge of this fundraiser was treated so poorly by your so-called manager and hung up on? Why would no one speak to her in person when she showed up to try and resolve the issue? Why were NONE of her phone calls returned? More importantly, why was Yelp the chosen method for letting her know the donation was ready instead of a phone call? To top it off, the person you posted your reply to was not the one who set this in motion. How would she have known that you were only "donating" $20 unless she decided to check on here? No matter the situation, you should have handled this better. If a customer perceived bad service and a poor quality of food, then you should have apologized instead of trying to insult them on here. Your business relies on your customers perception, good or bad. I would be very curios to know which charities you have donated to and how much? You said you have donated well over $100,000 to various organization but proof would be nice. I have a hard time believing that. One last thing, you said that this groups total bill was APPROXIMATELY $100 therefore the donation would only be $20. For 10 people to eat dinner out your claiming it was only $10 per person? I have NEVER seen 10 people eat out and the bill was only $100 unless it was at McDonalds and even that maybe pushing it. I think you need to pull those receipts again and get the actual total before donating $20 and make sure that the 20% is properly dispensed to the organization.
