Bolt Electric came out to ground the house. When the technician left, we were without internet, telephone, or cable. The manager told me that the technician could not possibly have caused this, but that the technician would call. He did not call. When Frontier came out 53 hours later, they showed me where the fios optic wire that had been cut right where the ground wire was buried. The technician had to have known that he did this. read more

We needed a doorbell camera installed so we contacted 3 places and decided to go with Bolt. Blake and Katie helped us out. I was a little disappointed because the appointment window came and went and no one showed up. After calling them, they explained they were running a tad late and gave me a new arrival time. No biggie as I was off that day. Blake came out full of energy and information. He did some preliminary checks, gave the thumbs up and had the doorbell installed in minutes. Overpriced and did not finish the job. Charged a "diagnosis fee" of $300 and did not fix anything. Quoted an additional charge of $300 to come back and actually fix the issue. Not feeling right about the quote I called in another electrician who fixed the problem in 15 minutes. The issue was something entirely different than what Bolt Electric said it was so not only do I feel completely ripped off for the diagnosis fee with no fix I am also feeling they are a very, very dishonest company. read more

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE! Their service man told us we needed to run a complete new line from the box, snaked through the house to the location of our light. We approved a large $500 price tag because the job would take half a day. When the electrician opened the box, he saw it was just a loose screw and tightened it in 30 seconds. Then charged $500. When we called the manager, he said they quote "by the job" and if it was just a loose screw, that was our problem, not his. COMPLETE CHEATS. DON'T USE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! read more

Jason and Wilfredo came to my home to move an electrical box. After getting into the walls further, it was determined that the entire home needed to be rewired. Although this was not the news we were hoping for, I could not have asked for better men to do the job. They treated my home as if it was their own, and took the time to explain to me everything that they were doing along the way. It was a big undertaking, but they worked through it to make sure my home was safe and wired properly, even arranging for a county inspector to come in. I would highly recommend this company for their trustworthy, hardworking, and friendly staff. read more

The only reason that I gave them a one is because zero is not an option. I had an absolutely miserable experience with them - techs showed up without the necessary parts leading to multiple visits, a rude manager, and a failed initial electrical inspection (due to an electrical code violation), being a sampling of what I experienced. Subsequent to their work, I had to hire another electrical company to repair the damage/fix the problems that they had caused. To top it all off, I paid for 60 amp service ... but the breaker is 50 amps. I would never hire them again, and would recommend avoiding them like the plague. read more

The company came in to install a junction box(customer supplied), a GFCI in a different junction box(all parts customer supplied). $256.00!!!! The wire was already in the cabinet. Had to install 2 screws to hold the junction box. install the second box and wire it to the GFCI(approximately 3' away). 256.00!!! they were neat, I will give them that. We had an appointment for 6/5/2019, they called and change it to 6/6/2019, called and canceled that one and rescheduled for today 6/10/2019. They were suppose to come between 10-2. We called Bolt Electric for a bad electrical outlet in the kitchen and another outlet which just went dead. Dean from Bolt arrived and was very friendly and explained everything he was doing. He also opened the electrical panel in the garage and showed me where the panel was overloaded and had been getting very "hot", causing one of the contacts behind the kitchen breaker to partially melt. Needless to say it was very unnerving to see this. Dean suggested a new breaker box which we were totally In favor of. Blake from Bolt arrived and replaced bad outlets and installed the new larger breaker box. Blake is without a doubt one of the most personable people I have ever met. He has a vast working knowledge of electrical components and explained everything as well as answered any question that my wife and I had. We are 100% satisfied with the service that we received and enjoyed meeting two of what I consider to be fine representatives of an outstanding company. read more

Overpriced RIP OFF - do not use the Groupon for this Company!!! Last month I purchased a Groupon for Bolt Electric for $45. The Groupon Value is stated as $358. Today I had a Bolt Electrician at my home. I asked him to move an existing ceiling light from one position to another in our home and then to install a new ceiling light where the existing one is currently located. He quoted me $119 to move the existing light and an additional $149 to install the new light. A total of $268 + $14.75 F.F.S. Charge. Subtracting the $100 Groupon, it would be $158 + $14.75 fee.I could not warrant spending that much on two ceiling lights. I agreed to pay the additional $32.75 to have the existing light re-situated. It took the electrician 10 minutes to move the existing light - that cost me $45 + $32.75 = $77.75. How can Bolt Electric justify this extortionate fee for 10 minutes work??? Apparently, the Groupon also included an electrical inspection. Zero mention was made of that - CAN I HAVE A REFUND PLEASE????? I'm a single parent on a limited income. You would think that $77.75 would cover the installation of two ceiling lights?? I'm disgusted and will never use this Company again. I have used bolt electric several times in the past, and their technicians did an ok job. After the last work they did for us, we were gone for several months and returned to find an issue that we thought was connected to it the work they had completed. The lights in our garage were not working, and I had tried several different bulbs that worked in other areas of the house, in those light sockets. So, we decided to have them come back out and take a look. This was after paying them thousands of dollars in the past for previous work. When they came out, it was determined that all the bulbs I had tried were bad, even though they worked in a different light socket before I tried them in our garage. Maybe I had a bad batch of bulbs, or whatever happened, all the garage lights were working with different bulbs that we used when the technician came. Great! It was just bad bulbs. Now after being a little embarrassed that was all it was (who needs an electrician for changing a bulb, i'm a handy guy, i've replace every light and ceiling fan in our home). Thinking I would have to pay a little something for them driving all the way here, I waited to see the amount. Tech tell me it will be $59!!!!! For 2 minutes of time (it seriously took him longer to write up the bill then to change the bulbs). Now if I had not previously given them quite a bit of work in the past, I would not have questioned this as much. BUT, I was a several times repeat customer. You'd think they would value their repeat customers enough not to charge $59 to change a bulb. THEY DO NOT VALUE THIER CUSTOMERS!!! I called the office, and the person I spoke with was understanding and attempted to "do something" for me, but was told she could not, and yes, $59 would be the charge. If you don't need any type of customer service and don't mind paying more than other electricians, use them. Their work was satisfactory. Beware of Bolt Electric. Purchased a $109 electrical service package from Angie's List. Technician came and before he began on a 30-45 minute job replacing a simple fluorescent light fixture quoted me that it would cost me an additional $44.00 for some bs charge. Finally I got so pissed, that I had to tell him to gtf out of my house. Talked to the owner of the company later and he told me that I shouldn't be cursing at his employee. I then asked a friend here from Canada on vacation that is retired as an electrician from Canadian Brodcasting Company, and he replaced by defective fixture in 30 minutes. If I could give them no stars I would. Scheduled them to come out and was told it would be 8-11 and would be first call. No show. Called and was told it was 11-3 and we were mistaken (highly unlikely). Called after 3:00 because again, no show. Was told it would be 3:30 and that they tried to call 2x in last :30 and left 2 messages. Called my wife who was sitting at home all day long waiting. Guess what ? NO CALLS !! Katie on the phone was very condescending not taking any responsibility for anything only putting blame on us (who had been sitting around all day waiting). Asked to speak to a manager or someone in charge and of course was told no one was in the office (at 3:30 pm on a Friday). Hired this company from Home Advisor thinking they would be a honest one. Hired to put in transfer switch for MY generator. Being a 75 yr old widow who lives alone thought this would be easier for me to switch. Two came, checked my generator, sent pics of it to their supervisor. Called twice to someone off site. Now with Irma breathing down my neck, find that what they installed was TOTALLY NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MY GENERATOR. when called emergency operator she said when getting in touch with manager he said: TELL HER TO BUY A BIGGER GENERATOR! Description Of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for $59 for an Electrical Service Call + $100 Credit Toward Service, and a complimentary panel inspection from Angie's List. What acutually happened: The worker broke the moulding going into the attic. In addition, he said he could not grab the wires going into the switch, so he had to break the drywall. There is a hole about the size of 1/2 dollar above the switch. He stated that I only had to get up on a ladder and hammer the moulding in and fixing the drywall was easy. I was not able to do this due to being 6 months pregnant. I have spoken with the two receptionists at the company, they stated that they had to talk with the owner. It was a month and the owner finally made a decision that he was not going to reimburse me anything due to the fact it has been awhile and that we are unable to prove the worker did the damage. I have date/time stamped photographs. I had my baby early and she was born with brain cancer so this was not a priority. When the worker was in the home, he seemed so non chalant about the fact he damaged several things. However, my baby was born early with brain cancer and died at 4 months so this was the least priority. He had no remorse and offered $100 for inconvenience. BTW the panel service for $59 was never performed. That with the additional damage to my house is ridiculous. They should be out of business. I ended up paying over $450 ADDITIONAL to just run electricity to a room. This company is horrible. read more
