I recently took my car in to have the passenger side mirror replaced. I called and made an appointment exoecting to have it replaced. They never ordered the part and told me that it was for evaluation. They then made an appointment to have the mirror replaced and told me it would be there in 2 days. Eleven days later I came back at the scheduled time and was told they forgot to order it. The third time it actually was there. I jad asked how much this would cost, after the first attempt and was told about $430 dollars. When I did get it replaced I was handed a bill for nearly $700. Turns out they only quoted me the price for the part, I am sure somewhere on the estimate form they said plus labor however when they say the price and circle the number you assume that it includes labor. They definitely said it would cost $430. If I knew labor of one hour was going to be about $250 I would have checked out other places. I will not be going back to them. read more

PLEASE READ FULLY!! I'm just gonna start off and say that I'm not trying to gain anything but just inform. Everyone of at least my personal experience with this dealership. The purchase of the car was as smooth as it could be but ever since I have had nothing but horrible things come from this dealership, and I work at a dealership myself. The car I bought was a 2014 focus with 28k miles. Had to fight the dealer to replace tires that were dry rotted and cracked, and they refused to replace a key that they had lost for my vehicle. The dealership didnt get my papers for registration out in the 30 day window and even when I did get the packet in the mail, it was missing the safety and emissions testing... After a couple of months of owning the vehicle, the transmission started slipping and was shuddering which was a known issue with the focus and fiesta. Ford Motor Company had released a TSB about the transmission and clutch so the testing shouldn't have cost anything. Turns out I get charged the diagnostic fees saying my car passed the tests but they didnt run the test they were suppose to for the tsb... I quote "We know your car is slipping and is bad but it's not bad enough". As frustrating as it was I drove my car for another two months and the transmission kept getting worse and worse until it became a legitimate safety issue with losing power and not being able to accelerate through I intersections. I stopped by and asked if they could run the TSB and they said that they might have to charge me again for the diagnostics. I left and went down the highway to Pundmann Ford and asked them about the tsb. They agreed to check it the following week and that it would be covered under the TSB campaign. I went back to Bommarito and asked for a refund which I was denied because it was up to the technician to decide what tests to run (which I am a technician for a dealership and that's not how it works). Following week I have my car tested and it failed the test misserably and as I was promised free on testing. Long story short, do yourself a favor just go to Pundmann and avoid the headache. read more

COPY of mssg. sent to Bommarito G.M. Mr. Gilbert, I'm writing you concerning the Takata airbag recall on my 2007 Milan. I bought the car from an individual Feb. 2018. Receiving a recall letter from Ford Motor Co. June 2018 I called your dealership Aug. 18 2018 and started the replacement process. I gave the vehicle details 190,000+ miles, vin # and so on. The woman muttered my mileage to herself or me several times. I was told the part had to be ordered and I would be contacted when it came in. Ok, I understood. I checked in with Bommarito Oct. 2018, no part. Another recall letter came Nov. 2018 so I called the dealership again, no part. Another recall letter Feb. 2019 so I called Bommarito again. No call or email from you. Ok, that's the way it goes. I was informed the part was available and made an appt. for March 5. The woman I spoke with, mumbling my high mileage again. I might add she seemed dismissive and condescending. I know it has high miles but it's the car I drive daily so it needed to be fixed. Fri. March 1st. my boss suggests I call and ask for a loaner. I call, and spoke with another lady or the same one, tapping her PC, asking my name, VIN#, my mileage which she repeated again and again. She then tells me Ford is not offering loaners for this recall; she should have led with that info. I lost my temper, told her terrible, terrible customer service through out!! I hung up on her. The next day my appointment was cancelled via email. I never said cancel, your shop did it on its own. The rudeness aside, this airbag situation is potentially dangerous. Playing fast and loose with my safety. Cancellation of my Bommarito appointment was the best thing that could've happened. I went to another dealership March 6, received a call the 7th, my part is ready. Friendly & professional at this dealership. I purchased my vehicle from this dealership a year and a half ago, it was my first vehicle purchase, and the dealer took total advantage of this. They showed me the wrong car fax, and now a year and a half later I try trading my car in, only to find out that it had structural damage before I bought it and I was never told. Now I am losing money on my car because no SMART dealer would sell a car with structural damage. I would not recommend anyone buying from bommarito. They are not truthful and will do anything they have to just to make a sale. read more

Sometimes, I just feel like a grouchy old woman. That's pretty much how Bommarito made me feel. Do I just have too high of expectations or what? I went into the process with a very, very long list of SUV's to consider and I wanted to drive each of them. I knew I had about 3 weeks until I could get out of my current car and be able to proceed with buying something new. Bommarito had the Escape I wanted (with all the bells and whistles, naturally). Rough start, my sales guy took my license and insurance card so that I could test drive and forgot to give them back. I didn't notice until I tried to buy a beer that night. I figured my bad for not even noticing and arranged to pick it up the next day. When I arrived, the guy couldn't find them!?! Dude. I had to wait a good 5-10 minutes to find the envelope he'd stuck them in. I will say he was nice enough to take some great pictures of the car and send them to me so that I could solicit opinions on the color - since I wasn't sold on the gray. Then, when I was finally ready to talk money I emailed him to start negotiations. I wanted to come to an agreement on price via email before coming in to sign any papers. His response was "Oh, we don't do that. It's dealership policy that all offers have to be made in person". Uhhh.. no? I'm not going to come in and waste an entire day negotiating a price. I'll go somewhere else. I told him that and I left feedback on their webpage telling them they lost a sale over these "Dealership policies" I was immediately contacted by several people from the dealership to let me know that was NOT their policy. In the mean time my salesguy emails me back.. "I'm certain our store's location is the closest to your office, anyway, so why not gather whatever numbers from wherever and email them to me. That way I can get an exception to our policy and give you a sale price commitment via email." Exception, my @ss. At this point the only reason why they retained my business was a) they gave me a good price and b) I was too lazy to drive to the Illinois dealer who had the car I wanted and all the options I wanted in stock We came to an agreement on price.. and of course a $200 "Administrative Fee" was tacked on at the last minute. My salesperson couldn't (wouldn't?) explain what exactly I was getting for that fee, just that "everyone has to pay it". Lame! If you're going to charge me a fee, you'd better be prepared to explain it. Now I go to pick up the car and there's a rather prominent black smudge on the tan sunroof cover. My salesguy immediately brings some cleaner, which doesn't remove the mark and smells so bad that I'm a little light headed driving away (considering it was about 6 inches from my head). Also, they have a checklist of things they HAVE to go over with you, like pairing your phone to the Sync system. Hi, I have a masters degree in computer engineering. I want to figure it out on my own.. LET ME SIGN something saying "Pass" and send me on my way! *Then* as I'm trying to get out of there on a dark cold rainy night, the sales guy starts asking what I thought of their Facebook page.. in a very, very slimey way he tries indirectly suggesting that I should go and REMOVE my comment from their Facebook page, to cover up for what he tried to pull with me! Yeah, that's not uncomfortable at all for me. Here is almost 3 weeks later and I do very much like my new Escape. However, I'm still rocking some temp tags. I check with my sales guy and he tells me that he "must have sent my school proof to Ford and they haven't processed it".. can I send it again? All over a $500 rebate and they're holding up my registration?!?! Still haven't heard anything back, my temp tags expire in 2 weeks and now I get to experience the joy of the DMV at the end of the month - assuming I even GET the paperwork without having to follow up again. Ironically, the Ford survey reminded me that Bommarito advertised free oil changes for 2 years.. but nobody ever went over that with me. I have no idea how often they'll cover the oil changes or if I need proof that they should be free. Sweet. One of their major selling points and they don't go over it? Bottom line? I got the car I wanted, they had it in stock, and I spent less than I was prepared to pay. Was it more work than I wanted? Yes. Did I end up with a deal? Yes. Would I recommend it to someone who isn't .. umm.. as strong as a self advocate as me? No. I can totally see these guys steamrolling someone else who didn't just go through HELL with another car and was not going to put up with BS from anyone else! I required the person's insurance company to pay for repairs at the same dealership. When I received my car, it was two different colors, and they refused to fix the problem. I live 45 mins away and it is hugh inconvenience to drive out here and then have to turn around because they cant seem to manage their service. I will never take my car to Bommarito Ford to be serviced again. Had a simple broken door handle and they proceeded to ambush me with charges upwards of $150 for "diagnostics" (just an hour's worth of labor taking apart the car door, even though I know what the issue was). They didn't even fix the problem - apparently, that would have cost me nearly $500. Turns out that the part they need only costs around $40. Oh, and just want them to simply check your air conditioning? That's $217. How the hell do they value labor to be THAT MUCH? Or is it because I'm a woman and they think I'm stupid? This location, actually ALL Bommarito Locations are thieves. I have not only dealt with the VW location but, the Ford location as well. The sold me a car that needed a $1500 repair 45 days after receiving it. They wanted to charge me $150 for a replacement key, They had me wait for 6 weeks for a broken glove box handle (which broke within the first 2 weeks of having the car) Also, the radio has never worked properly. It would work and then not work. It has been over 4 months the radio has actually worked. Took it upon myself to find the serial number that is needed for the "new code" to have the radio come out of safe mode. The manual states that the codes are "FREE OF CHARGE" so we went to the dealership to retrieve the code and alas, they wanted to charge us $138.00 We will NEVER use Bommarito AGAIN, for any reason. I will say I have no issues with the sales department. My problem is their service department. Every time you go in there you have to wait several hours, even when you have a scheduled time slot to arrive. Trust me I understand getting backed up, but it is constant. Most people would say then take it somewhere else. I can't as I unknowingly bought a warranty that I thought I had to choose from and it came with extra oil changes. My main reason for this review is last week I brought my vehicle in to get an oil change. I left and smelt something off, I brushed it off thinking maybe they just dripped oil and it was burning off , but then two days went by and my car started running funny. Low and behold when opened the hood they never put back on my oil cap so oil had been shooting out of my engine and all over. Clearly the oil was low so I had to make another trip to get them to correct and check to make sure nothing was messed up inside ( I am still not 100 percent that they looked over anything as my car is still running funny. ) That day they needed me to stay longer to clean the oil that had now moved all over my hood, my windshield ect. I as a single mother could not afford to miss work since I had already been there longer them my lunch had to leave. Then once again the next morning I had to bring my car back to drop it off so they could ." clean " the oil off. Three trips later I still can not use my windshield wiper fluid as the oil is still on the windshield and my car is still making a noise. I guess I will be bringing it to another car repair shop and paying for them to make sure that the oil that was going everywhere didn't mess my new car up. read more

Bommarito Ford lied to us. We recently purchased a new vehicle for our business and had a code for a Ford Friends and Family Discount. The salesman, Doug, said that "you can't use the discount for businesses", even though our friend got the discount directly from Ford. We contacted Ford Motor Company and they confirmed that yes, businesses do qualify for the discount!! The truth is Bommarito had decided not to participate in the Friends and Family Discount which they chose not to say. I am extremely bothered by the fact that we were directly LIED to by salesman, Doug, rather than tell us the truth that the dealership was not participating in it. I am sure he chose to LIE because he did not want us to go to a dealer that was participating in it. Honesty and integrity is VERY important when dealing with businesses. What an horrible experience! If you don't have the perfect credit, don't bother with these ppl! Stopped by shopping for a car, got with a salesman told my situation. Was instructed to fill out a credit application. Met with the black finance guy who was very playful, unprofessional, made a few sexual remarks, bragged about being the "only black finance manager" and that all the white ppl were intimidated by him and his position. He also self proclaimed to be the guy that gets all deals done but didn't get mines done. Spoke with the dealership manager who was on the defense as if I dared to have the audacity to report my bad experience. I was then approached by the black finance manager's "assistant" who had all the attitude in the world. She was very short, aggressive and lack compassion. I brought my car into the dealership on 1/15/20 for two recalls. One recall was an air bag the other was fuel tank corrosion inspection on a 2009 Ford edge. The air bag recall was completed 1-15-20. I was told that I needed a new fuel tank due to corrosion. I did not get my car back until 3-4-20. I only brought the car in because I recently bought it and I kept getting recall notices for the air bag. I was told that they had to jump my car to get it in the shop. I said I'm sure you did you have had my car since January. I was also told that day that there was some corrosion on my exhaust. I did not think much of it I had no issues with the car. So I picked up my car and I had a battery light on and my car now makes a loud noise when I accelerate and when I start the car. I did not have these issues prior to bringing my car to ford. And in the middle of February I asked for somethings out of my car and the drove it around for me and I had no noise then. I called and asked for a manager and spoke to Taylor. She said ok lets get the car back in and take a look. I thought great they are going to do the right thing. So I dropped the car off on 3-11-20. I got a call and a text a few hours later stating that I would need to pay $160 to see what is wrong. I said why would I pay you to see what you messed up on. So I went back up to the dealership and was told they did nothing wrong I just bought a bad car. I said so many times to them I had no noise and no issues with the car. Something happened. When my fuel tank was being installed. Taylor said she would review the cameras. I have left a message for her boss and have not received a call. I cannot believe this would happen at a Ford dealership. read more

Was talking to salesman Jeff about an F-150. He called me when I was making the 150 mile trip to the dealership informing me the truck was not brand new it had 6k miles, even thou they list it as new online. I was ok with that as long as the price was highly negotiable, Jeff said yes it was with the new info. When I arrived at the dealership. The truck smelled like a dog and had dog hair and slobber all over, had ice cream on the seats, empty drinks in the cup holders and was missing the factory floor mats. I figured "ok, more negotiation room." When I sat down with Jeff to talk they were only willing to take 1k off the price for the 6k miles and all the issues with a truck they consider "new". He said the listed price was already at a loss to the dealership and it was fair to lose more due to the fact the truck had 6k miles. No sure why a costumer would pay for the miles the dealership put on the truck. Needless to say I walked out of the dealership and wasted 5 hrs and 300 miles. read more

Matt is one of those rare people who listens to what a customer wants, then makes a sincere effort in helping him/her find it. Right away, I got the feeling Matt was representing my interests in the purchase of a car, and I've bought a lot of cars since I last had that feeling. I also got the lowest price and best deal on my trade-in, but none of this would have meant as much in the absence of the excellent customer service. I can't understand how people could buy a car every couple years I haven't bought a new truck in 10 years and it was a terrible experience I had negotiated before we went into the dealership on the Internet the first thing that happened was that they said they made a mistake online and they didn't charge me some fee of about $1200 I had just driven three hours and they knew it The negotiations lasted three hours it was awful.The salesman kept saying how much money they were losing on the truck give me a break Then after all of that after we have negotiated a price when we went to talk to the credit people in the office we found another $300 added to the price we finally worked it out and I did purchase the truck. I think that I was lied to more than any other time in my life of 60 plus years at Bommarito ford. I recently had a terrible experience at Bommarito Ford. Stay away from this business, they don't stand behind what they advertise, and try to put the burden on the consumer if they make a mistake. I arrived at Bommarito due to an ad I saw on their website that had a particular truck we wanted. Tim showed me the truck, we discussed doing a trade-in, and then he went to the manager to get some thoughts on this truck. Tim came back after talking to the manager and informed me that it was supposed to be a wholesale truck. Then it was further reported to me that we could buy it "as is" but a lot of repairs need to be made to the truck as a retail truck. The salesman shared that they still needed to make a profit. Is it my responsibility to pay for their "mistake of posting a truck up for sale at a set price but numerous repairs are needed?" If another retailer makes a mistake with posting the wrong price, they allow you to buy it at the posted price and take the hit. They gave me a written statement that stated if I decided to buy this truck they expected me to pay $4482 in repairs. I feel this is outrageous and false advertisement! read more

This company LIED to us. My boyfriend and I bought a Volkswagen Tiguan from Bommarito Ford and they claimed it has clean title--turned out that the car had an ACCIDENT several days before we bought it. The airbag was also deployed. We did not notice anything because the accident happened in August and they only showed us car records up to June. Now that we have to re-sell the car at a price 20% lower than the expected value. These people are liars and have a huge propensity to screw you over. Never trust them. They had ice cream in the lobby too (which I made sure to enjoy). I live in Texas, but found the perfect used car for my wife online on autotrader at bommarito Ford. I called about the car and spoke to Sergei. He gave me his best honest assessment of the car since it was used and I would be flying in to make the deal so I was relying on his feedback to determine whether it was worth getting on a plane for. I made a deal with him for the price over the phone based on his assessment being accurate, crossed my fingers and caught an early am flight to St Louis. Upon arriving I was prepared to be disappointed, but was pleasantly surprised to find the car in excellent shape and absolutely as advertised. Everyone at the dealership was wonderful to deal with and they were even very accommodating about putting the car on a lift so I could have a good look at the mechanical bits. I purchased my 2013 taurus sho from them last april and in august I had an issue with the battery exploding, battery acid actually melted the air filter cover and I called several times once to see if it was covered under the warranty, they said yes. later to schedule a time to come in and I asked again that it was covered, again answered yes. but when my car wouldn't start after it finally exploded I called to have it towed and when the tow truck driver was running late and it was the end of the day I asked if I would be able to get into a rental because I knew their mechanics would be gone by the time I got there, this time I spoke to a different man in the service department, (who was incredibly rude) who proceeded to ask me while the tow truck driver was there questions about my car getting into the VIN and everything long story short he said my car was not even a week out of warranty and they wouldn't be able to help me. SO here I am, stranded at work. I had to have someone go pick up my daughter from the sitters while I waited for my husband to get of work and get to me so we could go to autozone and get a new battery. If they would have asked the right questions in the first place I wouldn't even be upset about missing the warranty date by a week I would have just gone to autozone myself and changed the battery instead of letting it explode waiting for a day that they could get me in when I knew my battery was getting bad and then becoming stranded. Fast forward to January of this year my car had a fuel pump issue which then again left me stranded at work before I leave for a doctors appointment. (my typical luck) but I called them and they were prompt to get a tow to me and I didn't get in a rental because we have another vehicle. (which also broke down for THE SAME ISSUE, again my bad luck, but I called them and they delivered a rental car to me via Enterprise which was super awesome and convenient) They had the car almost a week until they could figure out the exact issue and returned it. Here we are almost 3 weeks later and the car has the same exact issue I'm stranded again this time I rode in the tow truck to the shop got in a rental and they fixed the problem real fast which was awesome because then my rental car started having transmission problems and almost broke down too, (understand my luck now?) All the times I spoke with the service department in January I did not speak with any of the people I spoke with in august and I had a pleasant interaction with everyone. read more

I am a very picky person when it comes to cars, being an engineer I really looked at every aspect of the mechanical condition. I found a 2010 that was in great cosmetic shape, it was a one owner and well maintained car. Hence I bought it, but had to take it back after I discovered a shimmy / shake at 60 mph as well as a rear differential noise that increased in loudness as I drove it for a few days. I was worried that this was going to be a problem and that I would have to be paying more money than I budgeted for this vehicle. That was not the case at all, Eric the service tech and Gordon the service manager were awesome! They were great to work with, they fixed the car at no cost which entailed a complete rebuild of the differential with new bearings and gear replacement. They fixed the shimmy by re-balancing all the wheels and provided a new hub cap where it was missing. I discovered the license plate light fixtures were cracked when I put plates on the car. They did an excellent repair and even dropped off the hub cap and license plate light fixture parts at my work! This is the best service I have experienced from any dealer. From purchase to unforeseen service requirements, these guys are great to work with. I considered another vehicle at a small mom and pop shop until I caught the salesman (manager) in an untruthitude. Looking back at this experience, I am very happy that I went to a large dealership where they have the expertise and reputation for standing behind their product and sale. I visited Bommarito Ford on September 4th (Tuesday) in search of an SUV. It was a Tuesday afternoon and the temperature was in the lower 90's. Dan Lesinski came out of the dealership and greeted me on the lot asking me what he could help me with. I was interested in a 2012 Escape and Dan grabbed the keys and we were off on a test drive. The car had more bells and whistles than I wanted which made me hesistant to spend the extra money for these items. I told Dan I was out of my price range and he showed me some other vehicles and he asked if I wanted to drive any of them. I told him I did not want to and my head was starting to spin with numerous vehicles and prices. I looked at Dan and told him I was wasting his time at this point and I appreciated all of his time. The last words I said to Dan was, "I may see you again on Tuesday." I went to two other dealerships looking at the Honda SUV and the Hyundai SUV. I was the only person on both of these lots looking on this day and not one person came out to talk to me. I wasn't looking my Sunday best since I was off work that day, but I was willing to buy if I thought the deal was right. In frustration, I got back into my car and called Dan asking about a "demo" I had looked at. Dan told me they had just sold it after I left. I thanked him again for his time and patience in trying to help me. I kept looking online for vehicles in the area and I woke up on Friday determined to buy a vehicle. I called Bommarito and asked for Gary Beggs. Gary, his brother, and his sons have bowled with my family off and on for numerous years. Gary and I exchanged a few phone calls throughout the day, and I ended up buying the Escape I test drove on Tuesday over the phone. I told Gary I couldn't pick up the vehicle on Friday, but I would be in on Saturday around 5:00pm. I asked Gary if he needed any kind of payment to hold the vehicle. Gary told me my word was enough for him. (I enjoy doing business old school. Your word and your handshake putting a deal together.) I arrived on Saturday and the dealership was hopping. Gary and Dan greeted me and there sat my new vehicle at the front door. Dan and Gary were great. It was a pleasure doing business with two professionals who knew how to treat a customer. Chris Clark in the finance department explained everything so well and his service complimented my experience. As I was leaving an hour after I arrived, Matt Goodson got into my vehicle with me and spent twenty minutes or so going over how everything worked. He made me feel very comfortable that I had an understanding of how my vehicle worked. Gary and Dan both called me the next week to see how I was doing. I COULDN'T BE MORE HAPPIER. I don't know about sales but their parts department is definitely trash tier. They can say that their parts are in stock but with their extremely long processing times I don't think that's true. They do not provide you with any tracking information so the only way you can find out if there was an issue with your order (which there was in my case) is to make an account with every shipping company you can think of and hope that they send you a notification. This dealership certainly won't make an attempt to contact you. I've ordered parts from dozens of dealerships and this one stands out as one of if not the worst experience I've had and these people have the audacity to charge for this kind of shipping whereas most don't and get me parts within the same week. Don't make my mistake and stay away from this business if you're looking for someone competent and have work that needs to be done promptly. read more
