The barbecue was tangy and sweet, but not overly so. I really enjoyed them. Could've maybe used a little more celery to give me some kind of a health balance. Service was excellent. Prices are decent. It's hard to tell what's high anymore, but they are competitive. The atmosphere in the place was cool. People eating, drinking, talking, watching games. We went as a group of three on a weekday afternoon. It wasn't crowded, bar seating was easy to find, and service was fine. It's a casual neighborhood tavern with TVs, a full bar, daily specials, and a broad menu with vegetarian and gluten free options clearly marked. The Tavern Turkey ($12) was the biggest disappointment. The turkey was finely shredded, densely packed and extremely dry--almost like canned chicken in texture. Every bite needed a drink behind it just to swallow comfortably. The creamy mustard wasn't memorable or much help against all that dry turkey. The tomato wasn't doing the sandwich any favors either--soft, watery, and an immediate removal for me. There was plenty of turkey, but more dry turkey wasn't helping. I started pulling meat off and still didn't finish the sandwich. The chips were just there. Worth knowing: sandwiches run roughly $12-$18, and card payments carry a 3.5% surcharge. We landed here because Osteria across the street was closed after storm damage. They're part of the same restaurant group, but based on this meal, I never would've guessed it. I probably wouldn't choose to return unless circumstances landed me here again. Would I recommend it? Not based on what I ate.
