Not as good as the last times , that I ordered same thing. The order smelled burnt upon receiving. 1 side of Reuben was pretty dark but not enough to reject.The other side was under toasted and a bit soggy. There was plenty of meat but not as good... The thousand island lacked a punch or hangings to it. The fries- there were plenty! But again cooked on too high , dark , a little smoky and hard/ under cooked.They needed salt. There was none. We were in town for a convention and I was looking for a place for a group of 6 to go to for dinner and drinks, close to the convention center. The first place we were going to go didn't have reservation available until late so I referenced Yelp for recommendations. Based on feedback I chose City Tavern and so glad I did. There was something for everyone on the menu and there was a great selection of drinks. The service was amazing, food and drinks came out pretty quick. Everything tasted good. (The mushroom dip was a hit.) We liked it so much, that my friend and I came back today while we waited for our husbands to finish up at the game convention. Service and food were very good again. We had the same waitress, from last night, who recognized us. Give this place a try if you are in the area. read more

The City Tavern is in the "Wonder Bread" factory building on 4th St and Lincoln Avenue. We always drove past on my way to somewhere else. This year, we decided to try it out and found it a great place. It has an industrial vibe, and all the tables are high-tops. The space is open and airy, and they have free off-street parking just to the south. We have now been to the City Tavern thrice and were pleased with the food and the service each time. We have had the Shredded Corn Beef Rubin, Tavern Quesadilla, and the Tri-City French Dip. All of the things we have eaten there have been fabulous. We go through the week when they are steady but not slammed; the service has been superb, and the staff is attentive. read more

City Tavern is a cool little sports pub. The inside is somewhat small, but it has a neat atmosphere. There are plenty of TV's. The staff was friendly and responsive. Drink prices are incredibly reasonable, and they have a full menu with some healthier options as well (wraps, salads). I wasn't too hungry when I went with some friends to watch a game, but did munch on some chicken fingers and fries. They weren't that great and appeared to have skin on them underneath the breading. But given the large menu I would definitely give the kitchen another shot. There is also a small parking lot just south of the building which was pretty convenient. read more

The food here is actually top notch. The best thing we got was the Mac and cheese with buffalo chicken, but everything was good! The wedge was packed with flavor, the fries were great, we had mozzarella sticks that were tasty. My friends got a quesadilla and the chicken sandwich and everything was good. It's got a very hole in the wall vibe inside, but it's clean. Our waitress was nice and helpful, we did have to ask often for things like a knife and more water that probably should have been standard. We went to this location recently for an alumni event to watch a basketball game. I read many reviews about what to expect. It is a bar-type restaurant, but kids are allowed. We did call to ask. Keep in mind that they only have high-top tables. They do accept reservations, and that was great because it was packed. I ordered off their whiskey and food menu. The whiskey was great, and I was offered a second when finished. I passed at $15 for a glass. I do really appreciate that the prices are on the drink menu. Many restaurants have you guessing. We ordered the Buffalo chicken dip and Bacon cheeseburger French fries. Pro tip, the fries are a huge portion. It was enough for my husband and I to share as our main meal. They were very good with a ton of fresh toppings and a decent amount of ground beef and bacon. The Buffalo Chicken Dip was excellent as well, with a hardy amount of chicken. The only flaw would be that we didn't receive many chips, so when we ordered more chips, there's a $4 charge. Service was decent, but a few hiccups. They were slammed, and my husband had a drink spilled on him. When he asked for a rag to clean his chair, someone told him they were too busy. Fortunately, another waitress nearby offered him a rag when she heard. Overall, we were happy. read more

But last year, I met some friends at City Tavern for lunch and to talk about a possible business venture. It is located in that building. The food was good, the service fast and friendly and the beer was cold! I had an Impossible burger a side salad and a bud lite. The salad and the burger were pretty good, and I seemed to get my next beer via brain wave since it arrived right after I finished the first. We have come back almost every week. Once I got wings (quite good, lots of choices of flavors) and once a regular burger. Otherwise always the Impossible Burger. Quality, service and beer temperature always consistent! Parking is ample and across the street. It gets pretty busy at lunch and I'm guessing it's a favorite with local business people. Finally - they play lots of music I love. Staying in town for a conference and my Airbnb is 1 block away. I stopped in at 9:30 pm on a Monday to grab food to go and it was lovely. The bar was not crowded, but there were multiple games on, the bartender was nice, and they were playing great 90s music! I ordered a burger and tots to go and got a glass of wine while I waited. I am giving a 4 out of 5 only because this Tavern only has high top tables. No regular tables for us "short " people to sit at. Went with friends for dinner on Monday and was presently surprised they have a $6 hamburger special on Monday. Although I didn't order it a couple of friends did and they enjoyed the burger. I ordered the grilled cheese with bacon and tomatoes with a cut of tomato bisque. The sandwich was delicious and perfect for dipping into my soup! City Tavern is better than what came before it. It is still kind of new. The building itself is pretty old. It's located a few blocks from a few of my favorite 4th Street bars. The location sucks but it's easy to get to. I thought this place would be more of a bar. Instead, food here is actually really good. They have good vegetarian options. Being a bar, they have a lot of beers on tap and have a happy hour. Cocktails made from the well are pretty good priced. At happy hour cocktails are about $3 for well drinks. The food was even better, so you should get something. I had the Impossible Burger. It's $14, which is kind of high but this is the best vegan burger there is. It looks just like ground beef. There's even varying pink and red colors so it looks like the real thing. It comes with a side item. This can be cole slaw, fries, or a salad. It sucks walking to but it's easy to find. It's on 4th just off the 670 ramp. There's usually some street parking spots. read more

I was at City Tavern last night with some friends from out of town. I have never met a more unprofessional pair of bar tenders. One was Amber (I think?) And the other I didn't get the name of, but we will call Karen To start, non attentive would be kind. I stood for 15 minutes waiting for service at a bar that was half seated. Only after yelling to get their attention was I able to get a drink. Amber went and sang karaoke while Karen wasn't behind the bar, effectively leaving it unmanned. My buddy got the wrong beer twice, our car bombs were under poured, and they were more concerned with having a good time instead of doing their job. When we were leaving, my friend left a tip of 6.66 on her 32 dollar bill, for which Karen became so offended, she pushed one of the girls with us, tried to fight the two, and then threatened to call the police for "assault" against my friend who pushed her back in defense. This was in full view of the cameras mind you. By far the worst experience I've had with bar tenders in a long time. We all left a tip, and yet that wasn't good enough for Karen. Great choice for dinner. Was trying to decide between 4 and 5 stars -- would really give it 4.5 if that existed, but went with 5 because some of the food options are just that good. Usually order for delivery through UberEats but occasionally go in for trivia night too and always pleased by the parking lot next to the tavern which makes parking a nonissue. Delivery has always been prompt and the food still warm. Recommendations: the grilled cheese with tomato bisque *cue mouth watering*, the pulled pork sandwich (a little spicy if you're spice-intolerant like me, but so worth it!), and the mozzarella sticks. Regarding trivia night, their trivia is a little strange, hard to explain except maybe to say it's a little easy? But still a pleasant trivia night atmosphere. read more

I've been to this place twice. It has its own parking lot in the middle of Italian Village, near downtown which is a big plus. The ambience is good, with multiple TV screens giving it a sports restro-bar kind of vibe. The food is good and the service is friendly. We had good servers on both occasions, but in our second visit, the service could have been better. I do understand that sometimes staff shortage causes servers to be overwhelmed and not be able to provide the best service. So I still believe that this place is a very good place to eat. We stumbled across this fun little place after dropping the kiddo off at the Ohio Theater to see Hamilton. We had 3 hours to kill and were actually headed to one of our tried and true favorites for brunch, but this little gem caught our eye. I have fond memories of the smells from the Wonder Bread Bakery, and was so excited that they made this into a brunch/lunch bar! In fact, the bar is in the same room where they would prepare the yeast. It's now a decent sized bar/restaurant with several tables and full bar. There are two walls of windows and it's rustic in decor. They seem to have a decent liquor selection and a good craft beer selection on tap, with some additional choices in canned. I do recommend their Bloody Mary. The brunch menu is simple, but has great options. I opted for the Wonder Bread breakfast sandwich, of course. My husband got the a avocado toast. Food and drink prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is friendly and we had some great conversation with fellow patrons sitting next to us. They played 80's alternative music which we really enjoyed--Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Peter Gabriel, etc. We will definitely come for another visit! read more

Amazing place to go eat!! They have great food and drink options for all tastebuds. I'm newly a vegetarian and had the impossible burger which is a plant based burger my friends could barely taste the difference between this and the real one. Nice server as well food came out in a timely manner UPDATE: only downgrading my review from 5 to 4 stars because I recently ordered pick up there and got the impossible burger again and it was burnt. A little disappointed probably would of sent it back if I dined in. Of course theses happen sometimes but made me reassess the quality. read more
