Came to Bon Ga at an off-hour (around 3pm), so we were the only ones there. The service was polite and attentive, which we appreciated. The restaurant also has a nice ambiance. Unfortunately, the food was a bit underwhelming overall. The bossam was over-boiled and quite bland--it also didn't come with any lettuce or cabbage for wrapping, which was a letdown. The short ribs were a little chewy and unevenly marinated, resulting in some flavorful bites but also a lot of bland ones. The tofu soup was solid, but I do wish they served the egg on the side so we could crack it in ourselves--mine ended up with a fully boiled yolk, and I prefer it runny. The tteokbokki was decent; the rice cakes were firmer than I like, and there was barely any fish cake in the dish. We also tried the fried squid rings, which were mostly good, though one of the larger pieces had an odd pasty texture--possibly under-fried or over-battered. You know with how they served this item, it is their speciality and made with love. With pressure cooking it to brining it, to serving it at room temp. I have been coming to Bon Ga for years but never tried the pork cutlet...until today. I got the jumbo pork cutlet to share, and I'm sure glad we just got that. It was huge and delicious. The service was great as always and the inside is quant and inviting. Can't wait to go back. read more

Sooo happy I came upon this gem. Ordered a bunch of dishes and they were all tasty. Boneless plain fried chicken was super extra crispy and super moist. Just big hunks of juicy meat. Probably the best I have tried around here. I would go back just for the chicken and to try other flavors. Tofu soup was flavorful, galbi was spot on and yam fries were a yummy crispy bonus. This is a fantastic and authentic Korean food experience in Surrey. This restaurant reminded me a bit of Andamiro Korean Bistro with their lunch specials except a bit more expensive in terms of pricing. However, the lunch specials are a great way to try a couple items and get more variety out of the meal. Service was fast. They have the call bell system where you press the button for staff to stop by your table. The banchan were good. My favourite was the mashed potato. I enjoyed my go to seafood tofu stew. I love the spicy soup with the tofu and seafood on rice. There was enough heat in the stew and lots of soft tofu. The grilled beef ribs were marinated with the typical beef sauce you find at many restaurants. Overall, it was a very good dining experience. Service was fast. Food tasted great. Nestled in the wrong side of town, set in an unsuspecting and small store outlet lies something great. Walking up to the door, this place stands out like a gem gleaming in a desert only to be overshadowed by what you see upon entering. A beautiful and clean scene with soothing music, great service and kindness like visiting an old friend. I want to come back here, it really feels like a shame to have to go back to southern California after eating in a place that I enjoyed so thoroughly. The portions are great, the food is fresh and simply awesome! This place is a 5 diamond experience at good price. I really cannot gone enough commendations to what was created here.. Killer fried chicken. It was so good I should of had 2 full orders. We did it through skip the dishes but even after delivery, the outside of the chicken was super crispy and the inside was juicy and tender. It came with the original sauce which was very good and we got a side of honey garlic and a sweet glaze. Both of them pack tons of flavor. Pick your poison and you won't be disappointed. I kept switching between the original sauce and the honey garlic. I made some extra rice as their order size was a little small. The chicken on top of rice with some green onions and jalapeños and the sauce was great. Once done with the chicken, you are left with delicious rice. Will definitely go back. Came in on a Saturday evening for dinner with a small group. We were seated quite promptly. However, the service after this was unacceptable. 1. No side dishes were brought to our table until we asked. 2. No eating utensils at our table, after asking one lady, we had to get it ourselves from the next table. 3. One of the dishes we ordered was bibimbap. We were provided we a bottle of hot sauce. HOWEVER, before we even used it, the lady (likely the owner?!) SNATCHES away the how sauce from the middle of our table WITHOUT ASKING. THEN she proceeded to give it to the next table whom she spoke Korean to which we did not understand. Also came with side dishes and rice. The beef rib could be grilled more for my liking. The soft tofu soup is very flavorful and lots of seafood and tofu but I wish they give me more soup. What a gem of a Korean restaurant nestled in an unassuming strip mall in Surrey. I stumbled into this place on Yelp as I was in the area for work and am I ever glad I checked it out. I have been back several times already since! I have only been for lunch but have tried quite a few of their lunch specials and the other dishes people were ordering looked great as well. They have a great special with galbi (bbq shortrib) and choice of tofu soup, cold noodles and other options. The galbi is flavourful and tender and the soup and noodles were authentic and delicious. The galbi they have here is almost comparable to Sura in quality for a much lower price. I never expected that I would find some of the best Korean food outside of Korea in a small restaurant in Surrey. It is also very reasonably priced and they have amazing lunch specials. This place is a must check out for any lover of Korean food! read more

We had to grab the menu ourselves and all the cutleries were dirty. We have not been asked if everything was okay or if we needed anything. Bon Ga Korean Restaurant is nearby our apartment in Surrey BC, but we have never been there before. We went to Bon Ga Korean Restaurant for lunch one day during the weekend. Actually, the food there is great. The restaurant is not big, but it's very clean and organized. The servers were all Korean people who were nice and friendly. The picture menu could help non-Korean customers to easier order the food. There is an order/pay button on each table for customers to reach the servers, which is really cool. The food was a decent and large portion with cheaper price. We ordered lunch combos which were around $11.  Besides my boyfriend and I are not Korean, the rest of customers are all Koreans.  We were so surprised. I believe that this restaurant has very traditional Korean food. Very great experiences. We love to go back to Bon Ga Korean Restaurant again soon. read more

A great authentic Korean experience. The prices are cheap and portions are large. You'll find a very different kind of Korean dishes such as the pork trotter set meal that we got. The meat was very tender and sliced thinly and everything is very well prepared. The buckwheat noodles served with a cold kimchi sauce was also very flavourful. I never write reviews, but this place is worth writing for. I hope nobody goes through the same situation as I did. The owner demanded more tips even though I gave them 12%. I was literally told down to give them more since we paid cash first which they already put into the machine, so they couldn't take it out again. I too was a server since 2006 and this is total bullshit. I felt like I was being ripped off at a place I previously enjoyed dining in. Never going back. Spoke to my friends, and apparently I'm not the only one with this shitty experience. Mr. Owner, if you see this, please learn the basic etiquettes as a restaurant owner. Really good portion size and flavor at this restaurant for what you pay. Bf ordered the lunch special of bulgogi, tofu and seafood stew (can also choose chicken or beef if you're not into seafood), and rice while I ordered the hot stone bibimbap. We also ordered spicy ddeokbokki (rice cake) to share but with everything together, we barely ate half of the ddeokbokki after finishing both our mains. The flavor in all the dishes was a-ma-zing! Sometimes, I find you will just taste meat in bulgogi, for example, but here, there were so many spices and ingredients in the marinate that it was heavenly. Parking on Sat nite was full but there is a sign in the restaurant that indicates you can park in the lot next to them . Side street parking avail. Service, Mom and Pop family restaurant, Authentic Korean food and staff. They were only two staff, so, very busy. You can use their call service device on the table to get there attention. They try to be accomodating esp the older Korean lady who was worried the sun was shining into our faces. Otherwise, don't expect good/outstanding service or checking in on you. Food, authentic. Beef Bibimbop stone bowl, very fresh and delicious, just not enough rice at the bottom, came with a small bowl of miso soup. Pork sparerib with a bowl of rice, generous portion of ribs, not much fillers, just some onions on the bottom. Kimchi side, mashed potato with egg, chopped mushroom side dish and a cold veggie side dish. All tables are given a plastic water bottle with cold water. The utensils are located in a rectangular box with lid on the table, help yourself. Ambiance, casual. Clean. They have both wooden tables, chairs and the Japanese type enclosed rooms for bigger parties where you take off your shoes and sit on the soft cushions closer to the ground. Went there today for the first time for lunch and definitely enjoyed it. Ordered the Bulgogi and soft tofu stew lunch combo and found it delicious (can I just race about the kimchi, because it's the best I've had, don't know if they make it or if they buy it, but it's amazing). My wife and I ordered delivery from here and we didn't receive our sides with our order. I order some ribs that comes with rice and my wife a bibambap that normally comes with 4 sides. I received just a small box of meat and she received her main with only a very tiny portion (in a soya sauce container to visual the size) of the spicy cabbage. We called and the restaurant said if we ate at the restaurant we would get all our sides with our dishes. But we PAID the same and we wanted to have a meal at home because we have a 1 year old so going out doesn't always work at 7pm. The fact they didn't send us our sides and just told us too bad but next time to eat in the restaurant is such a shi**y thing to do. Avoid this restaurant on the fact that they rip off customers, have poor customer relations, and for $35 for a tasteless thinly sliced meat potion that's child size and a bibambap is shameful. read more

Food is OK... I ordered the "Beef rib, Tofu/Chicken spicy soup with rice". Even though the beef ribs were served on a teppan hot plate, they were not cooked fresh. They were pre-cooked and cold when served. Taste wise, they were OK. The quality of the side dishes was at mediocre level (Kimchi dried and old, green peppers were tasteless; potato and long beans tasted pretty good though). Tofu in soup were tasting very fresh although the chicken was gone, had an old gone taste. Since I was in a hurry so I didn't return that. read more
