I had such a great time here, I was happy to tip on a dinner that came up to a $100 bill (for myself) for a menu combo that serves 3-4 people (BEEF COMBO serves 3-4 people.) I normally don't have expensive dinners but Jin Soo Sung was worth it! The beef WAS SO GOOD, SO TASTY paired with rice! Ssam (lettuce wrapped meat) was really good here too. I came here with a friend and got the pork combo for two ($73.99) and we were served with quite a bit of food! The meat was well marinated and paired nicely with the lettuce leaves and rice. I think the tofu soup was a bit watery, but it came with some seafood pieces, which I didn't expect. I think this combo can easily be shared between 3 people so the pricing is not too bad for KBBQ. In terms of service, each table had a button to call for staff and I think the staff was very efficient. We were able to get our grill changed multiple times throughout the meal. There is also an option to dine in at tables without a grill so I think I'd come back to try their black bean noodles! read more

We booked a reservation for a group of 12 and were explicitly told by the manager that the private room would be reserved for us. Ten minutes before our reservation, they called to "confirm" - clearly scrambling because they overbooked. When we brought up the room, the same manager completely gaslit us, pretending he never promised it. No accountability, no apology - just attitude. Then he hung up on us. To top it off, while we were driving home, they called us accusing us of stealing another customer's cake. In reality, they had stored the wrong cake in their fridge and handed it to us. Their staff was rude, defensive, and absolutely unprofessional. This was hands-down one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. Beautiful restaurant in an easy to access location with parking lot. Heard amazing things and the food definitely did not disappoint! Maybe I'm just weak towards Korean food but after visiting twice with friends, I feel like I've had the best possible dining experience possible for Korean cuisine. The food here has been outstanding I've found. I'm somewhat notoriously picky for big shareplates with larger groups. It shocks me then that my possible favourite dish is the GalBeeTang, which is quite inelegant as a share item. On a cold night, this is possibly the best possible soup item to get. It is extremely hearty and delicious to take in. The short ribs provided as well are large and just completely fall off the bone while eating. I love Korean food and this item just shot up on my list of favourites. My other favourites are done quite well. Their japchae is solid and loaded with veggies to dine on. A staple dish for me, a seafood pancake, was also done very well and really had that nice crispness overall that everyone loves. Finally, their fried chicken and pork hocks are absolutely delicious as well. I've only ordered a few times from the menu overall admittedly, but I wasn't disappointed by any of them. We ordered the basic menu of Korean dish which was Soybean Paste soup(된장찌개), bibimbap (비빔밥), and Seafood pancake (해물파전). Soybean paste soup was extremely salty. Bibimbap was lack of flavor; less vegetables and Gochujang (고추장, Korean chilly sauce) was bland. Seafood pancake came after the main dishes even thou it's appetizer. Also, the seafood pancake was just full of imitation crab meat, no variety seafood and vegetables. Plus, I found the small vinyl from the pancake. I came here with B to have dinner. This restaurant is located in Surrey. There are not a lot of Korean restaurants in Surrey. I wanted to eat BBQ. We ordered the Su combo for $62 to share. It came with beef, chicken, pork, soup, rice, sides and salad. Portion size seemed to be small than the Korean restaurants that I usually go to in Coquitlam or Vancouver. The flavouring of their BBQ meat was so so. I found that it had too much of a pepper flavor than the traditional Korean flavor. As well, we felt like we were rushed eating here. When the server bought out our meat, he threw part of it on the grill for us and started cooking really fast. We basically lost all the fun out of it. Then when we finished our first batch he rushed over and changed our grill and threw the rest of the meat on the grill. He was pushing us to eat fast and go. We came on a day which we almost had the whole restaurant to ourself (there was one other table). I didn't see why he was rushing us. The reason why I wanted to do Korean cooking was so that we can have fun cooking on the grill. NOPE - we didn't get to really cook on the grill. We might as well go to Gyu Kaku or something. Not much of a looker from the outside, Jin Soo Sung Chan is located in the Guildford area of Surrey. Don't let their unassuming appearance fool you. Inside is great service and great Korean BBQ. Upon opening the door, you're greeted by a lively modern setup. Our BC Vaccine Passports were validated and we were seated in no time. The options available are pretty solid and the combos are attractively priced based on two, four, or more people. We chose the Jin Combo for two with soft tofu soup. This comes with four different selections of pork. As always, I'm concerned it's not enough food and I also order beef tongue to give us one more meat to burn. I was wrong once and we could have done without the addition. All the meat was fantastic and I might be biased, but it was cooked to perfection. I'm not sure as to why there was confusion when the waitress inputted our order as we only ordered this and one side. The order receipt said beef combo so I assumed it was right as we did get the beef combo but premium. I guess shame on me for not verifying again that it's premium even though we had pointed it out when ordering on the premium menu. The manager rectified the order which we appreciated but still did not appreciate how the waitress handled the situation. Not only that but we constantly had to ask for things to only be forgotten and re-ask. Our original waitress only came once throughout our whole meal to give us a refill on the banchan and then again to give us the check. The only reason I gave 1 star was because of the other waitress who delivered our food. If not for her, this would have been a 0/5. Food: 1.5/5 We didn't realize that the bbq grill was a portable gas grill and not charcoal. I'm not sure if that's the standard there but we were surprised to see it like that as kbbq places usually have charcoal grills within the tables. I guess that should've been a red flag. The premium beef combo set was not worth it in my opinion in terms of flavor. The amount is decent but I would not order it again. The marinated beef was very heavy and the other cuts of meat were bland. There was only one good cut of meat in the whole set that we liked. The soft tofu soup that came with the set lacked flavor. The side of steamed egg was good. FYI you have to pay for the to go containers, which I thought was odd as this was the first restaurant that charged us for to go boxes. This wasn't relayed to us when we asked for it but when another waitress delivered it she mentioned whether or not we knew we would be charged. We said no one told us this and she went to check with the manager who waived the fee. However, we were still charged for the to go containers on our check. We were going to say something but decided it wasn't worth the hassle and just wanted to leave at that point. Would I go again? No, I think there are other kbbq spots that are worth the money and the extra drive to get to. My dad and I absolutely love their beef rib soup! It's rich and flavourful, also the beef serving is quite generous. The noodles in the dish add that extra chewy texture in the dish. overall we always leave feeling full, even when having just this dish. I think it's good price for an entree with a side of rice already. Their BBQ items are delicious as well, although I would consume more beef, as their chicken is just an 'okay' item. I absolutely love this place! I had been feeling sick all day and was craving bulgogi soup so my husband took my toddler and I here for dinner. We were seated immediately and took our time looking at the menus. My husband ordered combo B which is various marinated meats and seafoods to BBQ ourselves, boiled dumplings for the kiddo, and bulgogi soup for myself. The male server promptly brought our mannny side dishes and explained what each were. One of which was vegetable egg omelettes and our son absolutely LOVED it which is so great for us since he's such a picky eater. The BBQ meats were perfectly seasoned and marinated, and after a long wait my bulgogi soup finally came out. At first I was a bit annoyed at how long it took but after tasting it, I couldn't be mad at all! It's THE best bulgogi soup I've had.. the broth was so thick with the meat flavour and they definitely did not cheap out on the slices. Overall, if I could give this a 10/5 I definitely would. We have been visiting this restaurant a number of times as we liked the food. The last two visits have been underwhelming. One visit was a group of 9 people. We were seated in the room separate from the main area. We ordered a set menu and a number of items. Service was slow. We pressed the bell a number of times to call for staff to refill tea. It turned out they turned off the bell system, avoided our hands waving at them and kept walking past us. Someone had to physically get up to flag staff. Our server never came back to clear dishes either. I felt bad making this restaurant suggestion to the group. I was not sure if the bell system was turned off because it was past 9 pm and that it was not busy enough for the bell to be used. The last visit was myself and my date. We were seated in a booth by the entrance. That was fine. Our server was quick to take our order. However, the food we received was lukewarm/cold. I paid the extra money for a dolsot bibimbap and ended up with a normal bibimbap. The toppings were cold. The rice was lukewarm. The hot stone bowl was barely warm. I usually look forward to the crispy rice at the bottom of the bowl but there was none. My date ordered a bulgogi beef with rice. The beef was served hot. The side of rice was cold. The boiled dumpling we shared were decent. They had a pork and vegetable filling and was served pipping hot! I visited here for a late lunch on a weekend and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the dishes. The place had a modern and clean atmosphere and service was very attentive. For 4 people, I ordered 1) fried dumplings 2) a medium sized steamed pork "bossam" and 3) medium sized intestine hot pot "gop chang". The bill came to almost 70 including taxes and tips. It worked out to be less than 20 dollars per person. Having tried almost all korean restaurants in the greater vancouver area, I would rank all three dishes in the top 3. I cant comment on the BBQ for this place, but I was impressed with the taste and the generous portion of everything that was placed on the table including the side dishes. Food was okay, we ordered combo B for two for barbecue ($38). This included LA ribs, rib eye beef, spicy pork and chicken bulgogi. I was looking the most forward to the LA ribs. The serving size was decent for two people, but the meat proportion wasn't. There were only 3 LA ribs and 1 of them was mostly bone. Barely to no meat on it. If there was a marinade on it, it was very bland. Tasted watered down. The rib eye tasted delicious, but there wasn't a lot either. There was a lot of chicken and spicy pork. The spicy pork was good, but the chicken was bland as well and neither of us liked it. But I brought the chicken home in a takeout box and my dog very much liked it. He ate it in 5 seconds. Overall this place is okay. The prices are a little steep for the serving size, especially since they give you more of the cheaper meats. If you want KBBQ I suggest you go to Vancouver for the best, but this is an okay place if your new to KBBQ and want to try it. read more

I don't often venture into Surrey to eat, but when I do.. Well, I probably won't return to this place. The food is very typical to Korean cuisine. Nothing amazing stood out. The one dish that I had a problem with (if I had a bone to pick) was their beef tartare. I've had tartare at several Korean restaurants before, and I've never once encountered a problem. The one I had here, however, left me without an appetite. The dish arrived presentable and in a timely manner. It wasn't until I began to dig in that I realized the meat was still frozen. With every bite I was able to taste and feel the ice crunching and melting in my mouth. Eventually I had a stomach ache. Thank goodness they had a bathroom! I don't see myself returning here in the near or distant future. Jin Soo Sung Chan is passable for average Korean food, but try to keep your expectations low. read more
