To Americans in London, take note of this non- pretentious Italian restaurant. The chef, who is apparently not Italian, can cook. We ate their twice. After sampling the sautéed veal, and liver respectively served with broccoli and spinach, the pasta carbonara and the chicken with mushrooms, plus observations of other's meals, I.e., muscles, pizza, linguine with clams, it became clear to me that this is an underrated neighborhood/family restaurant in the Westminster area, It is located two blocks from the Conrad Hilton and St James tube station. Who would have thought that this culinary gem was hiding in Westminster, London. I would have given the restaurant ten stars if I could. We were in London for two days before a British Isles cruise. Having had afternoon tea at the Wolseley and fish and chips, we were looking for a quiet dinner before leaving London. Yelp gave this place a good rating, but it should have been higher. It is a fairly small restaurant. We were seated quickly; the staff was friendly, and our server was awesome. She knew every dish on the menu. My husband had the lasagna and I had carbonara. Best Italian you have ever eaten. Fresh made pasta. The sauces were creamy, but not sweet like many US restaurants. Even I liked the lasagna and I rarely eat any red sauce. Our server suggested chocolate mousse for dessert. We were a bit skeptical because it was made with dark chocolate, but she assured us that it would be smooth and if we didn't like it, she would not charge us. It was amazing! One of those tucked away gems away from the bustle of tourism. The taj and guardsman hotels are across the street and its near buckingham palace. We eat here at least once every trip. Family owned and operated they care. We had bruschetta followed by spaghetti carbonara and a spaghetti and shrimp with white wine sauce. All were excellent as usual. I was with a group on a business trip and tasked to find a restaurant near our hotel in walking distance and that everyone could eat something. This is what I found and was very happy with my decision. I want to first start off with our waitress. She was polite, smart, witty and opinionated. But opinionated in a good way, she wanted to make sure we made the correct decisions with our drinks and food for the best experience possible. And she didn't​ do us wrong! I am a vegan and she was able to recommend​ a past that the chef could take out some cheese​ and would still be delicious and it was!! The rest of my group were all very very happy with their choices. The prices were reasonable​ and the facility was cute, clean and quiet. We were heading to have fish and chips and discovered the restaurant closed at 6pm. So I googled restaurants nearby and we decided on Italian. What a gem of a find! The staff is super friendly and the decor is nice. Our server recommended a montepulciano which was nice and reasonably priced. We started with garlic bread which was yummy. I ordered one of the pasta specials and my boyfriend went with one of his Italian go-tos Spaghetti Bolognese. The pollo crema e funghi with linguine instead of potatoes had great flavor and the spaghetti alla carbonara was well balanced with a nice flavor from the pancetta. Very nice place located very close to Buckingham palace. We stopped into this restaurant after having been at the changing of the guard. It caught my eye because of how nice the appearance of this restaurant was. The three of us sat down and ordered some still water and a couple of Pepsi's. We decided to just ordered one pizza (Bon Gusto) and split it between the three of us because we had a reservation later in the day and we didn't want to be stuffed. Let me just say the waiter who had been serving us was super nice and understanding. When he brought the pizza over he had already cut it into pieces for us to share. We thought this was really considerate because they are smaller pizzas not meant to be shared. The pizza was delicious. I prefer thin pizzas that are coal fired. I find that you can always taste more flavors and they're not overrun by the dough. Very nice experience and very nice staff. read more

It is about the right things -- great food. John, the owner, works the front of the house. He is a consummate host and cares about what matters. The quality of the meal is not just a good, but a great value. We liked it so well, we retuned the next night. The pasta was perfect. The pizza was just right. Visiting from the States with my Italian-American wife who is very picky about her red sauce. Stopped in for lunch and it was excellent. The Bruschetta was fabulous and plenty of bread to dip in the oil and balsamic. She had the Muscles that she thinks were brought directly from the water they were so fresh and to die for she says. I had the Spaghetti Ragout that was also excellent. She tried a bit and said there are now three places she will eat red sauce, a place in San Francisco, this restaurant and of course the sauce we make every fall at home. Two of us were looking for dinner near Buckingham Palace and found this place well rated. We didn't have a reservation and were able to snag the only non-reserved table on a Thursday night. I'd suggest making a reservation. The staff and our waitress were accommodating, and friendly. Our waitress was funny, genuinely Italian and willing to make suggestions. We got the nightly special of linguini with walnut pesto and pancetta (an adventurous choice for me) and garlic focaccia with added tomatoes. It was all so delicious and fresh. We were in culinary heaven. We had a lot of tastey food in London during our four days there but this was hands down our best meal. It was also reasonable. Decor classic but not fancy. The perfect meal to the start of a day. I ordered the English breakfast and it was both sweet and savory. Although this is a Italian restaurant, when in Rome... The meal consist of two over easy eggs, 2 strips of beacon, 2 toasts, 1 sausage, tomatoes and mushrooms. A very large meal indeed. Went here almost by accident, we were coming back to our hotel (St. Ermin's) from Victoria and walked past the restaurant, after two days of pub food, Italian sounded great. Worried a bit with a party of six, but they found us a table. Several great Italian wines on the menu with very reasonable prices (compared to US restaurants) I had the seafood risotto that could not have been done any better, it was excellent, others had a linguini Del Mar with prawns, calamari, and mussels in a nice light sauce that was very good, While I didn't taste it, the grilled sea bass looked fantastic and had a wonderful presentation.
