Today, as my wife and I are proud parents of a beautiful three-week-old girl, I couldn't imagine either of us getting through it without her. She was enthusiastic, supportive, nurturing, responsive, and 100 percent committed to shepherding us through the final, difficult months of pregnancy, and beyond. She guided us through a 26-hour labor and was by our side and actively assisting for the last 10 hours. She advised us when to go to the hospital, and was our advocate the entire time we were at the hospital. We wanted a natural birth, and if it wasn't for Emilee we wouldn't have known how to navigate around the hospital's standard operating procedure (IVs, Pitocin, pain medications, epidurals) in order to have the birth that we wanted. For guys who are reading this, the biggest question you will have is "is my wife in labor." Unless you've been through it, you have no idea what a "real" contraction is versus a Braxton-Hicks contraction, especially toward the end when the Braxton-Hicks start coming more often and more intensely. Also, there are other things that can happen toward the end that are a bit scary and even if you've taken all the classes (which we did) you will not know what is normal and what is not. I ended up texting and calling Emilee way more than my wife did, and to her great credit she always responded within minutes. The other big question is "when should we go to the hospital." There is no way that we would have been comfortable doing most of the labor at home if Emilee was not there with us. We would have gone immediately after labor started and our experience would have been much different. But a good doula will "know" when it's time. Emilee also didn't stop helping us after my wife gave birth. She has helped immensely with putting us in touch with milk donors and has checked in on us multiple times. She shows her passion with everything she does. We were lucky to have her.

Her meetings with us before and after the birth were very informative and helpful. During the birth, she followed our lead beautifully and added bits of her own that really made our day run smoothly. From aromatherapy to massage to different positions and breathing, I always felt like Emilee would have 5 more ideas if something wasn't working. My husband and I felt confident the ferber method was safe and effective but it was nice to have an expert, in our home to help further assure us this was the best way forward. And considering our child cried so much regardless, it was a pretty smooth transition and worked really well. My feedback for Lacey is two things. One, I would encourage her to design her documents to be more personalized for each client. Anyone can google or even ChatGPT the ferber method, but clients are looking for an elevated experience when hiring a personal expert. It would be nice to have documents that are personalized to my conversations, issues or even use my child's name. if that's too much work, I suggest to have 2 versions of the documents; one for "she" and one for "he." The second is about communication and follow up. Lacey mentioned in person, and in emails to "feel free to reach out with any questions at anytime!" and that bumps along the way can happen so she encouraged us to always reach out to her. Well, I did, several times and never got a response. I don't know why or what happened - did I misunderstand the offer? was it just a empty platitude? was I de-prioritized for her higher tiered clients? - But it left an uneasy feeling in my gut, considering I was reaching out during a couple very difficult sleep regressions and I was (at those moments) parenting alone and in desperate need of guidance. If it was my misunderstanding about her boundaries with clients after the initial services have ended, then my feedback is to make it clear when communication is completed and not to offer any "niceties." Overall Lacey is a well trained, deeply experienced and lovely personality for sleep training services. With some adjustments in communication effectiveness, I would recommend her.

I hired Lacey based on a recommendation from someone else that had the same issues with their baby…read morethat I did. Lacey was super responsive at first when it came to the plan. But once we started, we started having a lot of issues with naps, early wake ups, a lot of things running into feedings. I kept trying to explain to her the issues that we were having, and it would take her a very long time to respond. He went from sleeping decently well, to sleeping horrendously these last couple of weeks. She said a lot of it was to be expected, but had no real suggestions on how to fix it. When I would message her on WhatsApp, it would take hours for responses or I wouldn't even get a response. The Ferber like method she uses work just fine. My baby was actually very much ready to be put down by himself without any sort of assistance. So that was never the issue. He was falling asleep with little to no check ins from day one. I recommend looking into figuring out how your baby is going to respond to sleep training/you teaching them how to self soothe on your own. You can ask ChatGPT and even upload your logs from whatever app you're using and it will give you a very helpful response. I use huckleberry. So that and chatgpt was way more helpful than a sleep consultant. I am not sold on this at all. A lot of money wasted, imo.

I was a neurotic mess for a couple minutes during the intro of the call, but after a few deep, guided breaths by Arielle, I found myself shutting off the world (and pressing the "ignore" button on my cell as the nanny/husband/plumber tried to call me). I could go on and on about my session in particular, but instead I will share why I will be signing up for membership into this amazing experience. 1. It makes you feel less alone. You can fill in the blank as to what your issue/challenge/experience is, and you can count on connecting with others going through the same thing or get advice on what helped them overcome it. 2. Its a place to find resources- Arielle suggested some great reads and a guided meditation app which I will certainly look into. I'm one of those people who likes suggestions, buys things based on amazon reviews, trusts friends who have tried things first etc., etc. 3. Safe place to vent- it's like talking to your friend, but better because there is no fear of any form of judgement and is focused on YOU! 4. Reminds you of the importance of taking care of yourself, and (almost) more importantly, remembering not to feel guilty along the way.
