We were so lucky to be able to work with Maria as our newborn care specialist for three months, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. As first-time parents, we truly didn't know what we didn't know. Maria guided us through every step with expertise, care, and patience. She recognized that our baby likely had a cow's milk allergy, something we never would have realized on our own. We would have assumed our baby was just fussy on the bottle, but thanks to Maria, we were able to get the right help within days and avoid our baby being in discomfort. Even when we changed formula and altered the diet for breast milk, Maria still noticed excessive gas and signs of discomfort from our baby. Again, the signs were very subtle and not something we would've understood as first time parents. She referred us to the best pediatric gastroenterologist in Los Angeles where we finally sorted out our newborn's tummy troubles. She taught us the best way to swaddle, when to transition to a sleep sack, how to administer medicine through a pacifier, how to follow a daytime schedule that set us up for the ultimate gift: our baby sleeping 12 hours at night. Beyond her skills, her dedication and professionalism were unmatched. She always arrived early and stayed late in the mornings to ensure the baby was peacefully asleep before she would leave for the day. She treated our little one with genuine warmth and care. Maria is an exceptional caregiver in so many ways! She got us through the first 14 weeks' worth of nights with our baby boy, who was born prematurely by 7 weeks and was in the NICU for a month. She is kind, thoughtful and most importantly, very knowledgeable about how to care for newborns. From the very first night, we felt comfortable having her in our home. She has the emotional intelligence to know how anxious or nervous parents can be, and does a really good job of providing input without coming across as pushy. Our goal for our time with Maria was to get help with getting him to sleep through the night, which involved planning his feed volumes, playtimes, etc in a schedule week-over-week. As a first time mother, I was very nervous to hand my newborn baby girl to anyone but I needed some sleep and overnight help. I found Maria's profile on Care.com and after interviewing about 10 people for a job I posted, I reached out to her myself because my intuition liked her. My intuition was right! :) Maria came to us when my baby was only 3 weeks old for overnight help. Not only did she give my husband and I some much needed sleep, she taught us a lot about newborn care and got us ready for sleep conditioning. My baby is now almost 8 weeks old and is sleeping 6 hour stretches at night. We even went on an overnight trip and she slept... well, like a baby... An amazing baby! 11hours with one quick feed in the middle. Maria also helped me with breastfeeding and bottle tips. My baby was very happy and calm with her and we also enjoyed her presence and felt comfortable with her in our home. We slept full nights and handed her breast milk and bottles. I would get giddy with excitement on the nights she was coming because I knew I would sleep! We handed the baby over and said, "Goodnight, Maria!" I am so happy we had Maria as a resource in those crucial first weeks as a first time Mommy with a precious newborn. We haven't needed her as much because the baby is sleeping so well but Maria is still texting me to keep up with my baby's sleep and sending me tips and schedules. We hope to have her for some overnight still for breaks or if we have an event. Maybe I shouldn't recommend her so she won't be busy and we can have her all to ourselves. We still want her!! Soveida was my baby nurse for 3 months, 7 nights a week with my second child, and she was an absolute gift from god! I only wish I had found her for my first baby. She is extremely professional and so calming - both to me and our baby. Even as a second time mom, I felt very comforted as soon as she walked in the door. She is very knowledgeable and helped us get on a feeding and sleep schedule that made life with a newborn a little easier. When I encountered some feeding issues, Soveida helped put me at ease and offered the guidance I needed. My baby was sleeping through the night at around 2 months thanks to her gentle approach to "sleep learning." Toward the end of her time with us, I needed some extra help with the daytime schedule, and Soveida was right there to help. What I really appreciate about Soveida is that she respects what I, as the mother, want to do. She knows how to give advice and offer her opinion without being too forceful, and she was always supportive of what I wanted to do. Maria is a lifesaver! We are forever grateful for the three months she spent with our family. She not only took excellent care of my twin boys, but she also took care of ME during what could have been an extremely difficult period of time. When we were going through the hiring process, my husband and I both had our hesitations about having someone in our (very small) house and in our space at night, but all of my fears were immediately erased the moment Maria walked in the door the first night home from the hospital. Maria got straight down to business. She quickly and calmly got the babies settled and started feeding them without asking any questions, and I knew we had made the right decision. 8pm could not come soon enough each day, especially in that first month.
