Diego and Callum overhauled my furnace, replaced the flue, tuned up my on-demand water heater, and installed my water softener system. All was done with professional results. They kept me informed of their arrival time, what was needed after an inspection and kept me informed of their progress. Overall, a very professional job. read more

I had smelled a skunk smell coming from my basement and had called my "former" plumber and told him about the smell. He came out and turned off the gas to my heating system. The smell was completely gone when he arrived. His conclusion as he left was I needed to replace the heating system. When I returned I called Valverde/Bond Plumbing and spoke with Lacey and asked if they might come out and look at the system. This was on a Friday and they were booked but Lacey called me back several times that day to say they were trying to get to me. By 5pm the service Tech John Montoya was at my house. I told him about the skunk smell the week before and he thought one probably sprayed near the house and the smell came into the basement from the vents. He turned the gas back on and spent an hour checking all the gas lines, thermostat etc. and said nothing was wrong with the boiler. He turned the gas back on and installed a carbon monoxide detector I had purchased. This was a month ago and the boiler has been working perfectly so no new Heat system needed after all. Larry Mapes, founder and owner of Valverde Energy has over 35 years experience in solar energy and currently holds electrical, mechanical and general contracting licenses in New Mexico as well as other journeyman's certifications for residential and commercial applications. He is a NABCEP certified solar thermal installer. He is also a charter member in the NABCEP Solar Thermal Task Committee, and a technical committee member for the Uniform Solar Energy Code (international code by IAPMO), his expertise continues to help set national standards for the solar industry. His legislative work within the State of New Mexico also has given him a keen perspective of energy policy overall.

I called Bond for a quote on a house that I am in the process of purchasing. While I received a…read morecall back from a manager or owner fairly quickly, he introduced himself as Valverde rather than Bond. I don't recall phoning Valverde, thus confusion regarding what type of service provider was calling, as I have made many calls to a few types of repair people for multiple quotes. When I asked for clarity, the person on the other end of the line was rude in response... within the first 10 seconds. Ok, I'll let that slide--maybe he hasn't had his coffee yet. During the call, as we were discussing the replacement of kitec plumbing--a well documented safety risk with a class-action lawsuit that makes homes uninsurable--the owner was rude in tone. I got the impression that our phone call was annoying to him, and he likely thinks I am stupid. He asserts that the recalled plumbing is fine unless visibly leaking and "its basic" to tell if it leaks. This information is demonstrably FALSE as documented clearly in the class action suit. I let him go mid call. Not only is he rude, but misinforming a potential customer in a negligent manner. Hopefully his license covers negligence, as he might need it. If I am going to give someone tens of thousands of dollars to do work in my home, it is reasonable to expect a basic level of respect during the first phone call (and beyond). After speaking to the presumed owner, I feel bad for whomever the nice secretary is. She must be on the receiving end of his customer service skills all day. I will never call this company again.

He tested other parts of our well-water system to make sure they were working properly, without trying to sell us something we didn't need. We had a different plumber come out a month ago that left without fixing the problem. It took that plumber longer to tell us that he couldn't fix anything until the whole system failed than it did for Rod to diagnose and fix it. Rod is the right man to call for water system installations and repairs.

Larry Mapes and Valverde Energy/Bond Plumbing have maintained and kept our boilers and hot water heaters going for a long time. They are honest and reliable and we can count on them. They did a lot of other work here at Placitas Real Condominiums in Taos New Mexico before I became unofficial resident grounds coordinator in 2020. Valverde was there for us throughout the pandemic. David is our main tech, and very knowledgeable. We appreciate all the folks at Valverde. read more
