It's going to cost them $500 to mail it back to the manufacturer?? I offered to pay the shipping to return it to the manufacturer if that was the issue. They weren't interested in that; they want to collect their $500 "RESTOCKING FEE." We have done a lot of business with this place in the past. In fact, this past Spring, we purchased a large chimenea that is already cracked straight up the middle. It's ready for the trash. I was lead by a chimney sweep individual that a wood burning insert could be inserted into a…read moreMajestic wood fireplace, my mistake. I approached A fireplace with photos of the unit that was installed and the word was not pleasant to hear. The store manager sat down and reviewed the options. It was September and I was aware the timing was not the best. Within a couple of weeks they were out to look at the situation. I was informed by their experts the chimney for a Majestic fire place was not too code for a wood burning insert. This fire place was on the basement floor, I was looking at 34 feet of chimney to be replaced. It was also brought to my attention the exterior siding may have to be replaced to give access to replace the chimney too code. I got back In touch with the store manager picked out a new wood burning insert and made necessary arrangements to have a new one installed. I then proceeded to have the Majestic fireplace and facial stone removed. It was right after Thanksgiving when the A Fireplace installers arrived. With the Majestic fireplace being removed from the structure they were able to walk into the framing or cavity of the Majestic structure and look up and review the existing Majestic chimney. It was at this time they could decide the best avenue to replace the chimney and that was to pull out the inner liner of the Majestic chimney and insert the proper wood stove chimney from inside the framing up 34 feet. This was a big relief to me not having to remove the exterior siding. Before inserting the wood stove the installers lined all exposed 2x4 framing with fireproof material and taped and caulked with fireproof material all internal walls facing the insert. This was not an cheep easy fix but had to be resolved. I walked into the A fireplace Store In September very depressed with a big problem and a few pictures. By mid December the Castle stone was on the wall and I had a safe beautiful Lafayette F10 wood burning fireplace. I am very thankful for all there professional help and work.
