We arrived around 5p and was greeted by Abbey. Check in was easy. We stayed in a king room (#7). There is a sweet table and 2 chairs on the front porch. Our room was clean, the bed amazing, and the shower was small but mighty. I slept like a baby. The ac was quiet and had it on all night without disturbance. We didn't stay for breakfast but did drop in for a slice of Abbey's homemade poppy seed bread. It was delicious. I would stay here again and highly recommend if you find yourself in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. read more

We hadn't been to the States in years and years. We decided to go to Idaho. The room at Bonners Ferry Log Inn was amazing. Very clean. Comfortable bed. I had such a good sleep on the bed. The room, the bed all made of logs..beautiful. And I had an amazing hot shower. It was such a pleasurable stay. I recommend Bonners Ferry Log Inn. This was our 1st wedding anniversary weekend. There was a microwave and coffee maker. Nice spacious room. And we were in the end suite. We do plan to go back soon. And this will be our first choice to stay. After a long day of adventuring, this Inn is the perfect place to relax. It's in a non-populated area of town, and is surrounded by trees. The rooms are modernly updated and have a cozy cabin feeling. There's a relaxing seating area near a pond, and a short trail where we spend our time enjoying a cup of coffee and fresh air. We went to use the jacuzzi which had way too much chlorine but it's a nice thing to have. The breakfast is everything you would need for a great day of exploring, the oatmeal was yummy and the kids loved the waffles. You have to try the local lemon bread as well. The staff at the front are attentive & very friendly. We enjoyed playing a few family board games which they had available to use. Don't pass up this cute & cozy Inn. read more

The hotel is great. The room is very clean and the bed is comfortable. They have a small breakfast from 7-10. You can make waffles and there are a few other options. The staff is friendly. There are board games you can borrow to play in your room since there are very few tv channels. There is also a jacuzzi and a fire pit. I'm glad we stayed here. BEWARE --- TURNED AWAY AT CHECK IN. DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING. I have traveled all over the world for the past 20 years and never had an experience like this. Here is how we ended up driving all night on twisty roads to get home even though we had a legitimate, verified hotel reservation we had paid for due to this hotel's terrible practices and downright TOTAL LACK OF HUMAN DECENCY. I booked this on-line. I was sure to read all the details of the room, and read reviews on multiple sites before deciding on this hotel. I filtered by pet friendly, the icon on the hotel said pet friendly, the description of the hotel said pet friendly, and all the other reviewers said it was pet friendly. However, I arrived at around 9 pm on Labor Day Weekend. The owner asked if we had a dog. I said we did, and didn't think anything of it. The owner informed me that he was sorry, he didn't have a room for me. He said only *some* rooms are pet friendly, and he didn't have any left. He said it happens fairly regularly that he has to turn people who have a reservation away (suggesting that he should have done something about this problem long ago so we would not have been in this situation!!) I asked if I could still have the room, but keep my dog who is a short haired small Boston Terrier in the crate. He was absolutely unflinching that we could not. He had no rooms for us, end of story. We already knew there were pretty much no other rooms in town since it was a holiday weekend. He didn't care-- he was totally totally unwaivering on his policy and would not let us stay in the open room because although his hotel has pet friendly plastered everywhere and there is a $50 fee, that specific room was not pet friendly. Do you know of any hotel booking site that has "half way pet friendly" as an option? I sure don't. There is a reason big chains like Marriott are either pet friendly or they are not. I showed him my hotel confirmation email, which said absolutely nothing about only being partially pet friendly. I showed him the description of the room I thought I booked, which said nothing about not being pet friendly. Nothing on the first at least 5 screens of the app powered by Expedia where I booked the hotel said anything about not being pet friendly. Then finally, all the way at the bottom, in tiny print, it said you have to CALL THE HOTEL BEFORE YOU ARRIVE to confirm your reservation. Seriously, are we living in 1900? Have you ever had to call a hotel you booked on line in your life to confirm a reservation? He said he called me, but this is remote Northern Idaho we are talking about here, an area that is one of the most remote in the entire United States. As we were hiking driving to his place from another small town, we had no signal all day. No email, no text, just a phone call we never got. The thing that really bothers me about this is that the owner kept going on and on about how this was all "Expedia's fault." Like Expedia should change their site just for him. I suggested several places he could edit, such as the room descriptions, to list whether each room was pet friendly when booking but he didn't want to do that either because all the rooms are "part of a pool". Here is an example of extreme hubris. This owner thinks both customers and search engine giants should change their behavior to meet his strange business practices rather than changing his business practices. And that it's ok to have people show up with no place to stay. He was saying, "well it's clear if people book directly from our site..." Right, like how many people are going to Google and searching "Log Inn of Bonners Ferry"? And how many people who are allergic to pets book a pet friendly hotel anyway? Probably none. In the end, after many hours on the phone with Expedia, we did get a refund. I think this owner probably things he should get a gold star for giving us a refund. We make good salaries and the money was not important, the experience was totally ruined. Traveled all over the US with my dog and never expected something like this. read more

This is a fabulous place to stay!! The management are friendly and the pride of ownership is obvious throughout the whole property. The cabins are clean and well kept with everything you need for your stay. There is a walking path around the property that is beautiful with lots of trees and wildflowers. There is also a gorgeous pond and setting area. Games and puzzles in the lobby. I would highly recommend this property. read more

I did not stay at the Inn but I charged my Tesla here. I called ahead and spoke with Norma at the front desk. She politely instructed me to plug in at an empty RV site (number 10). I was able to charge at 40 amps. Cost was $5. The staff were extremely friendly and I highly recommend the business. read more

We're full-time RVers & looking for a place to stay for a few nights in Bonner's Ferry. I'd called The Hemlock RV Park, which directed us to the Log Inn, saying they might have space to accommodate our 41' 5th wheel length. Well, they could & we're here (space #9 of 10 pull-thru sites). Full hookups, plants separating the slips & each space has a firepit. At the end of the RV park are the cabins available for rental. Reasonable rates on the RV sites & we received a military discount. Closest laundry, though, was downtown. We were greeted by owner Abbey & baby Lucca. The lobby was spacious & inviting, and they offer a continental breakfast to their motel guests. Lovely waterfall & seating area at the front corner of the property & hot tub farther down the parking lot by the sheds. Next door is Yoder's Market, which has a great deli & ice cream stand, in addition to discount groceries. Highly recommend! read more

I was very tired late in the day on a long trip home from Canada. I expected to stop in Sandpoint but saw this place from the highway and it looked promising. I am glad I stopped. $80 gets you an enormous, clean bright room with a king size bed and a huge bathroom with lots of counter space so you can really spread out and get comfortable. The decor is kitschy and pleasant, kind of like staying at Grandma's house, but without the musty smell! There is a table and chairs in front of every room perfect for enjoying the early morning sunshine. Free WiFi, and a communal hot tub if you're into that sort of thing. Why not 5 stars? No microwave, frig or coffee pot in the room. Coffee, OJ and freshly baked poppy seed bread are available in the lobby at 7 am. Inexplicably, I found 2 bucks in the bed which I left as a tip for the maid. read more

We were driving to Canada 10/26/18 and decided to stay in Bonner's Ferry for the night. We had passed several places that were not very appealing. Someone in town recommended Log Inn so we drove to check it out...perfect!!! So happy they had a room available! We loved the room - nice and comfy! We went for a little walk and then hit the indoor hot tub. We had breakfast before we left. Nothing fancy, but a good selection, tasty and more than enough. Oh - the lemon poppy seed bread is a must - we bought a loaf and ate it on the remainder of our trip. Next trip - we will plan ahead and get reservations! read more

Eric and Abbey (and Ricco) are doing a great job managing, renovating and running this cute little inn! This was our first visit to the motel, but immediately you can see that there have been a lot of great improvements made to the facility recently. The carpet and comforters in our room were old and in need of replacing, but in a casual conversation over coffee in the lobby, Abbey mentioned to us they were in the process of replacing both (as well as updating the lighting). Our rooms will be updated next. Even still, the motel was great and we would definitely recommend it if you're passing through or staying a few days. The facility isn't flashy or trendy, but instead it is low-key, homey and comfortable. The pond and gardens are especially nice for a stroll to relax and reconnect. read more

Short drive to the Canadian border. Stayed in one of their regular rooms last night. Sweet little hotel with incredibly comfortable beds, fridge, coffee maker with coffee, tea and got chocolate and microwave in the room. They have a nice hot tub on site for guest to use, a tiny market in the hotel lobby, games available for check out and continental breakfast. The owners also work the desk so the customer service was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back....next time hopefully we will stay in one of their one or two bedroom cabins. read more

My fiance and I came to Bonners Ferry to visit my family for the weekend and Bonners Ferry Log Inn was a great little place to stay! The owners were really nice and welcoming, the room was very clean and accommodating, and it was a cozy place to stay for a weekend. The grounds were very well kept up, housekeeping was great, and it was quite affordable! Under new ownership. Arrived on Super Bowl Sunday and the owners, Eric and Abbey, generously invited their guests to their personal Super Bowl Sunday celebration with great food and drink. Where do you go and get that? No where I have ever been. The hotel room was warmed so when we entered the room we were in total comfort. The room was spacious with a big flat screen TV on the wall with more stations than I have ever seen at a hotel. Had a wonderful time and every time we needed assistance they were there. For starters, I am actually writing this entry under the name of my spouse, so I am actually not female. I am male. Having said that, my experience begins here. . . If I were to be asked by someone whether to stay at this establishment, I would strongly advise any friend/acquaintance against it. I will neither add nor take away from the actual experience that we had at the Log Inn in Bonners Ferry. I will relay this story as accurately as possible. For starters, my family or I (separately) have stayed at this hotel quite a few times in the past two years or so. We NEVER had a single problem until recently. Our family was taking a trip north, so we reserved a room for the evening at this hotel. Unfortunately, circumstances arose that prohibited us from arriving at this hotel until around 11:20pm or so. The gentleman who owns the hotel called my cell phone sometime around 10pm or so to see what time I would be arriving. Again, I had no cell phone reception at the location I was at, so never (unfortunately) received his call. When we finally arrived at hotel, the front office was locked up for the night, with no sign of anyone up. No buzzer, doorbell, or sign indicating a number to call if in need of assistance after hours. Puzzled that no one was available at 11:20pm, we drove away looking for another place to stay. I figured I would call them the next morning and apologize for not receiving the owner's cell phone message. Went to the Best Western (BW) in Bonners Ferry, but they were fully booked, but that wonderful, awesome BW clerk was bound and determined to find us a room somewhere in town. I kid you not, this lady found us something a few miles away, which I could not thank her enough for. Flash forward to the next morning. I woke up and asked the owner of the hotel we ended up staying at if I could use his phone to call The Log Inn to apologize. He politely allowed me to do so, and what ensued was a terrible, terrible conversation between the owner of the Log Inn and myself. I POLITELY told the owner of the Log Inn what our circumstance was, and why we arrived at his hotel late, at 11:20pm the previous evening. I also apologized for not receiving his cell phone message, as reception was not good in the area we were traveling. Folks, the Log Inn owner was so incredibly rude to me that I honestly, for a brief second, thought I was calling the wrong hotel. As many times as I have stayed at the Log Inn in the past, I could not believe that he was speaking to me so rudely. He made it clear that he left a key under a doormat of our room, which is ironic, as I had no idea what room we would be staying in (I wasn't told anything about a room #). In addition, he said it was "better that you stayed where you did. You are better off there anyway." THEN HE HUNG UP ON ME. Folks, did you get that? Log Inn owner hung up on me. I replaced the phone receiver down, looked at the hotel manager in front of me (where we ended up staying), and was completely speechless. I asked this manager if he heard any of my phone conversation, and he stated that he did indeed hear quite a bit of it from where he was standing (kind of close by). Well, I mustered the courage up and called the Log Inn owner back and POLITELY stated that I did not mean to offend him, but that we simply were unable to arrive at the hotel earlier as he wanted, and that I had no idea that the Log Inn closed at 10pm, that no one told me when I made the reservation. Again, the Log Inn owner just sighed, then said it didn't matter, that I was better off at the hotel I was at anyway, then hung up on me again. Amazing. If you must stay at this hotel, I can tell you that the rooms are clean, which I have always appreciated. The male owner was very dishonest to state that I should have known that they close the front office at 10pm (which I never knew prior to this experience), and DID NOT mention anything about leaving a key under a room's doormat. Then to state the things he did and hang up on the phone was simply INAPPROPRIATE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I have since been informed by a few locals that this owner is not considered the friendliest person in town, and that he has treated other folks in town in a similar fashion (remember, it is a small town). Maybe after reading this review (which I am sure he will soon discover), he will try and be a bit nicer to his patrons. I am actually an Emergency Room physician who frequently travels to the Bonners Ferry area, as we are over-seeing the building of a new home very close by, so we are definitely NOT strangers to this town and know a decent number of people in the area. I travel here for both professional and personal reasons and want folks to know this town (Bonners Ferry) is a decent, good, safe place to visit.
