You can tell they put their hearts into literature and make sure you know what you're looking at and where to find it. They also allowed our dogs in so it's always nice when we can have that and wonder a book store. The price and value would depend one what ya got. Some of the older books I believe retained more value so it really depends on. They also buy , sell and trade books here so instead of getting rid of anything bring em here. It's a great stop and one of many bookstores in the area that is worth the stop.

One of the original owners recently passed and if you want to buy one of his fascinating and original wall art pieces, good luck! Past that, this is definitely a book store of literary titles that you didn't previous know that you needed. The store (which I think was once a Yoga studio) has 2 spacious rooms (front and back) and plenty of space to spread out and dive in. The selection is well curated (and organized) and priced accordingly. Hermeticus really requires multiple visits as there's so many exploration options. The person working the day I was there, was well versed in what topics I chose to bring up. I'll be sure to visit again the next time I'm in Ashland and hope that I can pull the trigger on a unique art piece or some personal literary masterpiece.

Not what you'd expect, the little used bookshop is full of rare and fascinating books on Alchemy, knowledge held by Mystery Schools of the past, and quite a selection of rare books on similar subjects. The owner was super friendly and helpful, even gave me a birthday discount on my purchases. Only in Ashland could a place as cool as this exist.

When our kids were little Santa left books at the foot of the bed so they could unwrap and stay in bed and read until it was at least 7am. Well, 20 and 22 and we're still doing it. I needed a couple of recommendations and could not have been happier to have help from the staff. Kind, knowledgeable and chock full of fantastic ideas. What I thought would be me meandering the aisles for hours (not that I don't love to do that, I just couldn't today) turned into a quick amazing process. If I could give 10 I would. One is more of a wide variety but more modern, Tree house focuses more on kids and young adults, the Book Exchange is more like a library with collections, older , modern, categorized etc. this is a wonderful thing because you can't help but go through all of them. Treehouse does have a wide selection but over all vibe is bring your kids in and there is a flavor of literature for everyone. They are price very well and I was even able to get a replica ring of THE ONE RING ... TO RULE THEM ALL lol . Treehouse is a wonderful spot so don't pass it up.

During a road trip to Portland, my wife & I stopped in Ashland for a day.  While walking around…read moredowntown, we found this lovely children's bookstore.  Housed in a former bank, the staff here have crammed children's books, toys, games and other trinkets in every nook and cranny of the place, including inside the bank vault in the back of the store.  They have optimized the small space, offering the inventory of a much larger store.  Despite the vast number of titles available, the store is very clean and well organized.  The staff are also very helpful and were willing to answer all of our questions.  This is a must stop for us the next time we visit Ashland!

You'll Definitely be able to find a gift for anyone here. Beautiful store and it's great to see a lot of patrons flocking here of all ages. The service is always great and accommodating. Friendly staff. I have a membership and you can save on items, both in store and online. I like the old school way of holding books in my hand, so this is my go-to store for new books.
