This place was great. I needed to buy a book for my English class; "Man's Search for Meaning." I checked my on campus bookstore and it was $8, so I called this off campus location and it was $6. It was 4:30pm when I called and their closing time is 5:00pm, i told them if they could wait til I arrive and they said okay. I showed up bought the book and left. This place is a complete waste of time. I've come here several times and their hours are hit or miss. Despite their posted hours, they are almost never open!!! Their selection of books is quite limited as well. Today I stopped by to pick up something and they aren't open, this wasn't the first time this has happened. There was no additional signage stating they'd be closed or for how long. According to the sign they were open until 4PM today. I called to see if there was a recording stating when they'd reopen, but there was no answer or recording. Very frustrating. I've had enough of their inconsistent hours, they've lost my business for good. read more

I've been here once a few years ago, and remember the service was a turn off but decided to try again today to try and sell some textbooks back. The lady at the front desk just took my books and scanned them. I couldn't see her computer to see what was coming up but I asked her if my textbooks were still being used with the college. She replied no and said they weren't even being listed in the summer catalog. Right away, I grabbed my phone to confirm and sure enough in the summer 2015 schedule of classes my book, edition, and author popped up for the class. Then she blankly stated she could give me $5 for it. It's a good condition, hardbound textbook selling for $200+ at the Rio Hondo bookstore, and she offered $5 for a book supposedly not in use by the college. read more

Good prices. They know which book which professor is using so they can sometimes help you out by saving money. Been coming here for a few years. The customer service is slightly intimidating but friendly enough and very knowledgeable. They deal with goofballs and half idiots from rio Hondo ( me included) so I see how customer service can be bad at some times. Overall Very recommended if you need a book for rio Hondo read more

I like supporting mom and pop stores. But my experience here was terrible. Called and put a book on hold and two hours later it was sold because they accidentally put it on the shelves. They sort of apologized, but the level of incompetence is too much for me. Won't be returning here. read more

I went in today with two bags of books to resell. When I got there the lady at the front desk was on the phone but she took the time to ask what she could help me with. I told her I needed to resell some books and she asked me to wait a moment as she was on the phone. No problem! But when she finally took the time to help me, she was short and rude. She excused herself half way through to answer the phone and help a customer in a different area of the store (also not a problem). When she came back she hurried through scanning the rest of my books. She QUICKLY spurted out the prices for a small amount of books she could buy back with out giving me time to write them down or even process what she was saying. Then she says "So do you want to sell them or not?" I asked what was going on with the other ones and she said something about them not being used at the school and how they had no value. So as I started to say "I know you're busy but..." she interrupts and says "Yes I am! I have a customer who has been waiting for over 30 minutes, so are you going to sell them or not?" All I was going to ask her was to repeat the prices again since she went so fast the fist time, but I said "Nope. I'm definitely not selling them to you." I packed up and left. As a customer, I completely understand if you are busy with some one else but she should have made that clear from the beginning so I could decide if I wanted to wait or not. I would have waited until she was free to give me the kindness I deserve. She wasted her time and mine and was so rude about it. I don't know how anyone would want to do any business with this company if the FIRST person you talk to when you walk in is in a bad mood and rude. read more

The staff were incredibly helpful and fast. The attendant asked me right away what I needed and knew just where it was. The price of my textbook bundle was cheaper here than the on campus bookstore at Rio Hondo. read more
