I will just make this short and to the point. I have shopped this store at Lake Square Mall for about 5 years since moving to FL. I have purchased a book a couple times that I needed to exchange or simply return. When I return, I am fine with a gift card VS cash back. After the 1st of the year 2026 I shopped a sizable number of books for upcoming birthdays for my young nieces and nephews. At this time, I also purchased a Calendar/datebook in the form of a book, as I always do year to year so that I have room to make notes for upcoming events, appointments, etc. This year 2026 I purchased later than normal as I typically purchase this for just myself. So, as you enter the parking lot side of the store, straight ahead as a " turn style" type of stand that had the kind of Calendar Books I always purchase. I looked at the design covers and chose one suitable to my hobby as an "avid bird, butterfly, etc" . When I got home, I opened the Calendar and it began in the middle of July. Needless to say this did not suit my needs, so, being a regular customer annually for gift giving, I simply wanted to exchange it for one that reflected the entire year of 2026. The fairly young woman at the checkout desk near the door was very quick to tell me we "cannot exchange" as she went on o say that ALL these Calendar books start in July. That if I wanted one to start in January, I needed to purchase one in 2025. Needless to say, I found this to be absurd. Nevertheless, I asked for a "store credit" since I frequently shopped there, NOTE: I would have just re-spent the credit on some something else while I was there. This girl/young woman refuse ALL options and said there was nothing that could be done about this. *So, here we are mid-July, and I now could of or can use the earlier purchased Calendar. Bottom line is, I purchased another one that suited what I needed and have just left the one from Books A Million set aside. I believe that this young woman had no idea of how to handle a simple transaction, exchange or credit, thus, losing a faithful yearly customer. My advice to shoppers is BE CAUTIOUS, their rules, their regulations can change at the drop of a hat and there was not 1 single suggestion of "I'm sorry", no empathy, no nothing. **I have not shopped in Books A Million at Lake Square Mall, Leesburg, FL ever again. It is delightful that BAM survives in this decaying mall, adjacent to a ghostly abandoned Sears. Books a Million was well-stocked and clean. It has an embedded coffee shop. The staff were all pleasant; one even approached me of her own will to see if I needed any help. Yay for BAM, a breath of fresh air as tumbleweeds roll through the parking lot. read more

I love shopping here and in the mall itself, it's even got a coffee shop inside of it!! Amazing! Service is great, people walking thru are nice! I love this Books-A-Million location! It is located on the end of the mall. The store is clean, organized and quite large. There are plenty of books and also plenty of Knick knacks. Perfect for your gift buying as well. The employees showed kindness, humor and professionalism. This store also features their "booktok" and other "favorites" tables. read more

I was in this store yesterday and was very disappointed I have been here before and liked the store. Yesterday The shelves were not in good condition. The books were not in alphabetical order according to authors or by subject. I was looking for a cookbook and it was nowhere to be found. My husband and I traveled an hour to stop there --big disappointment Unfortunately this is the closest one to us. read more

Where to start....a trip there today lead me leaving the store due to an employee talking shit about my family on the floor! Completely unacceptable! The lady was supposed to help my stepmother find a book, but instead the lady in a green elf shirt with glasses older woman; proceeded to complain on the floor to another employee about my stepmother who is from New Jersey saying how rude she was. I heard their exchange nothing rude on my step mother's part she's just asking for a Greek mythology book that kids may be reading. The lady then proceeds to walk to the employee who is standing right next to me and talk shit about my stepmom, saying, she's so rude, asking me to find a blue book out of a bunch of blue books is impossible, like how rude and stupid can you be... The conversation went on for about two minutes before I said to stop talking about customers in front of other customers because she's talking shit about my stepmom. instead of apologizing the lady in the elf shirt starts to argue with me saying it was rude of her to ask for help... Woman!! you work in retail your entire job is people asking you for help, if you don't like people asking for help then go and get a job somewhere else. After having to yell at her to stop talking about customers on the floor, she proceeded to not apologize and come to find out the person she was talking to was the manager who did absolutely nothing to help with the situation and didn't say anything other than "I'm sorry I have to take care of a return!" this situation should never have happened that Lady should never of been talking about customers on the floor and especially complaining about them. It's completely unacceptable and she needs to write my stepmother an apology letter. read more

Biggest problem here is that there is a CONSTANT smell of sewage at Joe Muggs, probably because something is wrong with the pipes. Hope you like the smell of a portable potty with that latte. Most of the employees are friendly and helpful, but the turnover for the baristas is pretty nightmarish. As a result, the new ones end up being awful at drinks. It's also really obnoxious to see managers berate employees in public, regardless of if it's deserved. The discount is worth it, but the spiel about it gets old quick. The bathrooms are almost never clean, which is partly because of this mall's clientele, but also because they don't spend the money on maintenance. The water fountains and urinal have been out of order for months, and the same graffiti is still there from when I was a teenager (over a decade ago). Tip: spend the money to fix things. I really enjoy coming here...it's not as huge as Barnes and Noble but it has quite a diverse offering considering the fact that it is located in a small mall in a relatively quiet area. I was pleased (but not surprised) at the large inspirational section which covers not only actual books, bit a large selection of bibles, bible covers, and other items such as bookmarks and accessories. I am always pleased with the magazine selection. Covering an entire wall, it includes the usual areas of sports, business, home, and beauty. I was pleasantly surprised to see magazines aimed at earth religion as well as publications for gay men. They have a large selection of book lights and last minute gifts near the register. This place is amazing!!!! The people who work there are down to earth, and very patient. Yes they do try to sell a card, but they have to because it's policy. If they start to talk to you about it, just listen to then because you never know it might be something you want later on. read more

Good book selection, the person working the register was very annoying. She would go through which seemed like a routine of questions and tactics to try and sell us a membership to the book store. Which we kindly decline after the very first question, also stated we are from out of town so not sure what the point of trying to sell us a membership is. We don't have a Books-A-Million around our area. Price was average but some of the books on the shelves had some aging on them, the top of the book were turning yellow, but when you take a peek at the bottom it would look extremely clean. read more

When I can get to this bookstore, I enjoy it very much. I usually buy books for children I tutor, and this time, I was apparently confused about an advertisement I saw about Books a Million and thought it was for this store. After some discussion with two workers and a manager, I finally understood about how sometimes things can get mixed-up with ads, and how some things are only on line. Well, I couldn't get the discount I was hoping for the purchase of a book and magazines for some Hispanic children; however, when I got to the check-out, the employee gave me a discount for being so understanding about my mistake!
