Found out her name was MACY. very like able, professional, but she laughed at all my jokes. We couldn't find it right away. So I gave up and headed for the door. I was extremely shocked when I entered this store for the first time, it has an extensive collection of books for such a small town! There is even a whole DnD section that blew me away, and I ended up buying a book I needed from that section without having planned to do it. The whole staff is extremely sweet and willing to help you find what you need or order it if they don't have it. Their membership is a great deal too- with deals going on all the time making the savings immense! I can't wait for Covid to not be a concern so I can lounge in their coffee shop and read the books I've bought- they do have it open right now and I've visited, but I want to see all the people coming in and out too! There are also tons of toys and gift options, so I know where I'll be going for unique gifts and toys for my family. read more

My girlfriend and I went to Books-A-Million today and wanted to get Joe Muggs while traveling. They were closed but an employee named Brooklyn came up and asked us if she could make us a drink that does not have espresso because they had already cleaned the espresso machine. The drink we wanted did not have espresso in it so it worked out perfectly. She really went out of her way to help us and the drink was amazing. The best service we've had at a book store. How can you not be a fan of any bookstore. I have a Kindle, so I thought my book buying days had reached dusk. But I misplaced my e-reader at a restaurant in the airport and only noticed after I shuffled by a gentleman sitting in the isle seat and dug in my bag to continue reading. The flight was taking off too soon to go back. Luckily I could download the Kindle on my phone, but definitely made plans to check out a bookstore when I touched down. This place reminds me of Jersey Barnes and Nobles, or any chainy bookstore outside of NYC. Very neat and spacious. And a pretty massive selection. Not the musty, cramped feel of a rural Mom & Pop bookstore. Due to the professional organization of the shelves, I found my books lickety split. I was greeted very warmly by the cashier as I made my purchase. And that's about all that can be said about that. read more

It's a great selection of books, and the coffee shop built in is great but when I went to look for a kids book in the back it was a mess. The books were not organized and they were not sorted into different ages and themes. I ended up not buying a kids book for my cousin bit did buy a book for my sister. This review is more about Books-A-Million online vice the brick-and-mortar location(s). I have been trying to purchase items outside of the Amazon ecosystem for a variety of reasons. I chose Books-A-Million in the past. Although they do carry many books, the shipping is abysmal. The standard shipping rate is USPS media, which, as everyone knows, is very slow to arrive. What bothered me most about the ordering process was the length of time it took from when I purchased the book (website said in stock) to leave the warehouse - over a week. Then, of course, you've got the several days of postal delivery itself. Colossal wait time for a book considering the competitors offer free and immediate shipping. The only way to get "free shipping" is if you purchase their annual club card. It's $25 per year. A lot if you ask me just for possible book discounts and slow shipping. I highly doubt with this membership model, you are getting top-tier shipping. The profit margins are too small for that to happen. In contrast, competitors either offer you a lot more with their membership fee - Take, for example, Amazon. With their $119 annual fee, you get movies, music, free shipping, etc. The problem with Amazon is they suck as a company. The quality of products by unscrupulous vendors has increased dramatically. The reviews are worthless. For me, the company has lost its luster. Hence the reason to try somewhere else. For Books-A-Million to survive in such a competitive market, they will have to innovate their model to appeal to customers tired of Wal-Mart and Amazon. I highly doubt I would ever pay $25 annually. I just don't read that many books to make that worth it. Plus, it's a book, that's it. It's not like I need it for completing homework or a timed-based product. If that were the case, I would just search the internet and find the answer. Frankly, I just don't NEED books that bad. It's a leisure pursuit for enjoyment and relaxation. I just don't want to keep track of something I ordered two weeks ago. Until the package arrives, you have to follow it to make sure it eventually gets to the location. And that's a hassle. read more

I am an avid book reader. I used to go to BAM all the time, but recently the service has been just terrible. I went in to buy just one Oscar Wilde book, but because of the very small selection I had to pick out an Oscar Wilde Collection. This annoyed me, but nonetheless I picked the collection because it was on sale anyways. I went up to the checkout and it was like a ghost town. For the longest time Nobody, not even one store clerk went up to ask if I was looking for something or was ready to check out. That is, until after waiting for what seemed like eternity a male employee came jumping (yes jumping) over to me and then completely ignored me whilst I waited for him to check me out. He then proceeded to hop away from the desk and go off into the back. I was obviously quite perturbed as I slammed the collection onto one of the tables closest to me. As I was leaving the store, the same employee, with a giddy grin shouts "Goodbye, come see us again!" After this experience not likely. If BAM was trying to communicate that I should shop at Barnes and Noble or amazon, I don't think they could have done a better job. So, on behalf of other book stores: Thank you for giving us the money that you could have earned from a customer. read more

The bookseller begrudgingly mumbled something into her headset--this after providing a prior customer poor, foot dragging service. Waited another 10min. Still no one showed up. Extremely helpful staff. Good selection of drinks and desserts at the cafe. Nice outdoor area to read. Unfortunately there are a lot of smokers here, and non-smokers have to move to the other side of the building outside to escape the smell. A good place to study and have peace and quiet. read more

My family purchased over $300 worth of books on this visit and I presented a coupon to the cashier for $25 off a $100 or more purchase. I recently paid for the Books A Million membership and received an e-mail with several coupons to use at Books A Million. The coupon did not have a barcode and I brought the entire printed out e-mail with me. The cashier told me she could not take the coupon and I had to show her on the e-mail on my phone that the e-mail did not have a barcode. She told me that people were taking advantage coupons and she had to verify I wasn't fraudulently using a coupon. I had to log in to the public Wi-Fi as AT&T service was moving slow. I avoid using public Wi-Fi whenever possible and my Wife had to explain to customers behind us what was going on. The cashier told me that when she saw that the e-mails would not display a barcode, she could call her manager for an override. 10 minutes to check out. I like to spend my money locally and will pay a little more to a "brick and mortar" establishment. This experience leads me straight to Amazon. Sad. read more
