Great Rustic up north vibe without feeling like a backwoods dive. Nice rustic but modern feel. Great menu, reasonable prices, good service. Good bold flavors and the menu offers something for everyone. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area.

Tuna tataki! Highly recommend. Not sure what was up with the peanuts though. Were they supposed to be there?

Bent Paddle Brewing Company is a family-owned and operated craft brewery and taproom in Duluth, Minnesota. The brewery opened in May 2013 and uses Lake Superior water to brew it's beers and hemp beverages. Bent Paddle's mission is to create a unique craft beer experience while also being sustainable for the business, employees, environment, and community. And they deliver on it all. I got a flight to enjoy some of their more limited offerings. Munchin Pretzels: An Oktoberfest beer brewed with traditional German Malts and Hops. I get toasted bread malt character with a bit of sweetness, but rounded out by a hop bitterness. The malt profile is definitely the forefront and I wished I had a pretzel to go with it. Infinity Stuf: An Oatmeal Stout that they went all out with 100 pounds of Oreos. Nutty oatiness, chocolate, and medium fullness. I appreciate it not being a Pastry Stout, but still get lots of Oreo character. A Beer of Their Own: A Hoppy Pale Ale brewed in collaboration with a Bar Of Their Own in the Twin Cities. Tropical fruit forward - primarily melon and cantaloupe, with a nice finish. Stratarado: A Hoppy Pale Ale brewed with Strata and El Dorado (get the name?). Tropical fruit, pineapple, some sweetness on the tongue. Liked this one a lot. ______

I'm from NJ but a friend from MN recommended this place telling me it's the best beer in the state. I visited on a Saturday in August and it looks like a lot of others agreed because it was absolutely slammed my whole time there. They had three lines at the bar for ordering beer and all three were packed with people all the way to the door. The taplist featured a nice variety of beers including a Märzen, a lime lager, a cream ale, a stout, etc. Almost no two beers were alike. I had a flight and the beers I had were good, but nothing really wowed me. I've been to over a hundred breweries in NJ and I've never seen THC drinks on a taplist, so that was unique for me. They also had a nice variety of hard seltzers and hard slushies, plus a wide variety of NA options including NA beers. So something for everyone here. Overall a nice spot with competently brewed beers that I would return to if I were ever in the area again.

The way I'd describe it is this: Think of one of those places that you go to because it's got great drinks and lots of places to sit (especially outdoor on a nice day). Now that place also happens to have some tasty snack - not a lot, but they are good. That's Rockwood - except they've got more food than normal. I wouldn't call it a "restaurant" as its primary focus, but there is plenty to eat and you would do just fine going there for just a bite. Our food was, as noted, quite tasty. The divine swine sandwich had some great and tender pulled pork. The smokedburger was a standard burger, the patty looks machined formed - that's not to say it's bought in bulk or something (I don't know) - just not an "OMG AMAZING" burger. The sweet potatoe fries were fantastic, well seasoned and some nice use of larger salt flakes. The Cucumber Salad was interesting, basically cucumber and onion in a quick pickle - probably wouldn't order it again, but it wasn't bad. The menu isn't huge, but its perfect ok to focus on what you do best. While we were there primarily for the food, we did get the Ely-ade drinks. They were quite tasty and would certainly enjoy again. Rockwood has a full bar, so you can get just about any drink you want. The prices for their signature cocktails are also quite reasonable. This is probably a great place to bring kids. They can get hot dogs, hamburgers, mac and cheese... all the staples. And the adults can partake in the finer fixings from the bar. Everyone was very nice, the kept the place well bussed. No complaints.

CRISPY BRUSSEL SPROUTS Sweet and spicy soy glaze with sautéed red peppers and scallions. These were a little too heavy on the sauce for my liking, but otherwise very good. BUFFALO MAC & CHEESE Cavatappi pasta tossed in a creamy mac sauce, topped with crispy buffalo chicken, blue cheese crumbles, and onion straws. We added bacon and chicken, and this was a top pick for us! The buffalo sauce had the perfect balance--not overly spicy, but enough flavor to complement the creamy mac and cheese. CPB CO. When we arrived a bit after 7PM, we had quite some trouble finding parking and ended up having to park a couple of blocks away after circling for 20 minutes. Walking in, the place wasn't too busy, perhaps 50% capacity. We were interested in ordering the fried cheese curds, but the server told us they weren't battered in house, so we passed on them. Smoked Fish Salad (Market Price, $18.99) - This is a pretty salad - all ingredients are arranged in rows along the dish. Mixing things together is a bit of a pain, but I appreciate the dressing on the side to add to preference. The dressing is an interesting blend of mayo and other ingredients, perhaps BBQ sauce, that make it slightly tangy and very sweet. There's an undertone of smokiness throughout, which tastes somewhat like liquid smoke rather than the dressing actually being smoked. It is on the sweeter side of dressings. Other than greens, there's a row of wild rice, dark and snappy, completely broken cultivated rice. There's also a bit of house smoked trout, nice and smoky. (4/5) Classic Wild Rice Burger ($16.99) - This is one of the tallest burgers I've seen in quite a while, mostly due to the inclusion of fresh vegetables including onion and tomato, and alfalfa sprouts. For some reason instead of using larger tomatoes, they use small roma tomatoes, including three small slices. They also used red onion that's chopped into a variety of different shapes instead of whole slices. It's really strange - I guess this saves on cost? Unfortunately smaller pieces means things fall out while eating. The patty is larger than the bun. It has plenty of broken wild rice bits giving some additional crunch and that signature wild rice taste. It's charred on the griddle well and it keeps its structure, not falling apart or becoming mushy at any point. I love how it's distinctively a rice burger and doesn't try to be a meat substitute. Two slices of American cheese are melted on top that gives some fattiness to the dish. The bun is toasted without butter and there's a flavorful garlic mayo spread on the top. It would be nice if they had also applied the sauce to the bottom bun as I found the patty to not have enough moisture or fat incorporated. The burger comes with some thin commercial fries. There aren't any issues with the level of fry and they are otherwise unremarkable. (4/5) Fitger's Brewhouse serves some solid good old fashioned Midwestern American food. Not much else to say.
