Went to Eveleth for grandkid's hockey tournament. Decided to have dinner at BoomTown. We had French onion soup for a starter. Was a decent broth with plenty of onion, and cheese. I had the shrimp dinner and couldn't believe how good the shrimp was. Crispy on the outside, shrimp was tender and not overcooked! Side salad was fancy too. Also had the bacon Mac as a side. I visited BoomTown this evening for their Taco Tuesday. I ordered the Boom Boom Pulled Pork tacos. I have had these many time before, but tonight they were over the top spicy. I talked to the table next to me who agreed, in fact like me the lady at that table ate almost two of her tacos before she couldn't handle it any more. I told them I was having the same difficulty. One waiter said the tacos should be more "sweet" not spicy. Our waitress said others had complained today regarding the spiciness too. I stopped eating my tacos, chips and salsa, since I couldn't identify where the spice was coming from. When I asked my waitress, who had admitted others were complaining, about a discount since I couldn't finish my food since the heat kept building in my mouth. She stated I couldn't get a discount since it was Taco Tuesday so the food was already discounted. Not pleased. To add insult to injury the lady at the table next to me made the same complaint and she was offered new food. I don't know if it was because her husband made the complaint on her behalf, and I was a table of one? Very disappointed in service and food. Sadly I drove by Thirsty Moose who has amazing food, but picked Boomtown tonight. Regretting that decision. read more

My review was taken down on Google for some reason. Food was ok. Steak wasn't cooked how I wanted it. The short blonde manager was pretty rude and only gave me a small discount. My main issue was seeing how she talked down to her coworkers, especially the people of color. I'm not from around here but where I'm from we don't teach our managers to be racist. read more

Ordered two large salads which were fine, service was good The bill was ridiculous! Had so many add one for the waitress, cook ( of all things), plus other fees. If they can't pay their employees a decent wage I think they will be out of business here. read more

I've loved this place. Last Saturday (1/3) my family had dinner. The kabobs were ordered medium but the thickest pieces were well done. The smaller ones were toast. The rest was cold. Burger order was good but the fries were cold. The $45 porterhouse was ordered medium rare. Obviously it was cooked on a grill spot that was too hot. Well done on the outside, medium rare by the bone. There are plenty of servers so the food shouldn't have sat under lights very long. The server should have rejected the kabobs at the kitchen. I mentioned my experience to another who said they have had four consecutive experiences that were similar. They're not going back until things change. Time for Jessica to get involved. read more

The food here is pretty good - however, I'd like to highlight the staff. When we tried to order the chicken wings, our server told honestly that they were delivered the wrong thing and she was embarrassed at the quality of them. I'll start with they were obviously busy mid Saturday afternoon. However, I waited almost 5 minutes before I was told to seat myself although their sign clearly said to wait to be seated. Several servers smiled at me while I waited but never addressed me. It was the bartender who finally told me to grab a seat. I grabbed a nearby table. I waited a few more minutes before anyone came with a menu. They did immediately bring me my pop I ordered but then was ignored again. Waitress finally came. No apologies for the delay. I just got a "Okay" sigh "what can I get you". I opted to leave rather than order. I was looking forward to a nice steak ($30+). But I wasn't going to be treated like an afterthought. Absolutely I could see they were busy. It was the way I was treated as a single dinner. Yes I heard the staff refer to me as "the single over there". To not be greeted upon entering. To have staff see me but not address me. To sigh heavily when finally coming to take my order. That was just too much. I asked how much for my pop so I could pay and leave. BoomTown is closely located to the US Hockey Hall of Fame, which was unfortunately closed the day that my Brother and I arrived in Eveleth and on the way to Ely. It was on the early side of Lunchtime when Scott and I came into the restaurant. We were seated promptly and enjoyed researching the variety of menu choices. Besides the sheer size of this place, I found it refreshing that this "Brewpub" had a impressive and sizable wine rack next to the bar. This was one of those times when both Scott and I thought that a burger and fries was too much food, so we both opted for a very nice soup and salad combination, and of course with beer. Great Rustic up north vibe without feeling like a backwoods dive. Nice rustic but modern feel. Great menu, reasonable prices, good service. Good bold flavors and the menu offers something for everyone. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area. read more

Had a romantic evening with my husband here. Located on Hat Trick Road, we decided to Rendezvous at the Boomtown (although we arrived in the same car so I guess it wasn't a real rendezvous). It was negative 20 degrees inside the restaurant so I was a little concerned with the possibility of dying from hypothermia- but they had sweatshirts for sale so good business decision to keep the restaurant at a cryotherapy temp. Food was great - pro tip -the menu items highlighted are the most popular items - not the most delicious items. But we did get some of those and they were good. What looks like your typical chain/bar/restaurant is exactly that - with the addition of actual good food. We capped off our romantic evening with a visit to the worlds biggest hockey stick - because what's sexier than a big stick. read more

Boomtown Woodfire in Evelyn has really good food! Their Ribs are seriously fall off the bone and seasoned and sauce just right. The apple coleslaw that comes with it is really good as well. Kids love their cheese curds and honestly everything we have tried has been excellent. The food here has been consistently excellent, especially the salmon and the half chicken. Mashed potatoes are delicious. Veggie sides seem fresh. Portions are generous (if not too big). Service is also terrific. Knowledgeable and friendly staff when asking about gluten free options. Restaurant seems clean and well-appointed. Takeout orders on time and accurate. Taking one star off though because the to-go orders come in styrofoam! Not only does styrofoam not biodegrade, it also leaches chemicals into the environment. Had an EXCELLENT meal with TOP NOTCH service this evening. Tuna Tataki app was fantastic, as was the Brewhouse Steak Salad and Cranberry Pecan Chicken. Generous portions, enough for lunch tomorrow. Drinks came quickly, app arrived within 5 minutes, and entrees arrived just as we finished the app. We sat in the bar area which was busy when we arrived but not too noisy, even with the TVs on all around us. Food was delicious. The beer was not good. I had the IPA and the Cerveza. The IPA was a diacetyl bomb....lots of butter flavor. The cerveza also had a butter flavor but not as prominent. Maybe a bad batch or the beer lines needed to be cleaned. read more

Lets start with the Hostess. No smile, no welcome, no personality with a truly uncaring attitude. Plus sat at table, placed menus at table and walked away. No enjoy your meal, server will be with you momentarily. Horrible first impression. Then the server eventually gets to our table after about 10 minutes and says I will be with you shortly. The restaurant WAS not busy. 3 tables in the restaurant section. She returned about 10 minutes later and took our beverage order then about again 10 minutes later returned with them and took our order of our table of 6. We waited and waited and waited and she NEVER came to our table to check on beverages or apologize for the long delay or to assure us that the food was being prepared. After about an hour we asked to speak to the manager as we went to find her. She went to the kitchen and I observed her telling the server with the server slapping her knee. The Manager came to the table and said it would be a few minutes and walked away. Again, no customer service, refreshing out drinks or offering anything for our patience. We waited for about 5-10 minutes more and no food so we walked out. This restaurant clearly has no customer service skills/training and clearly lacks management skills. I am sure there will be a canned paid for response from the company they hire to review these comments with apologies. The apology should of came at the time of our experience and not by a paid professional. Oh, we came to Eveleth for a special occasion from the cities to visit a grave and this is how our special day ended. read more

We yelped a reservation, which worked great. We were greeted and seated immediately. The place filled up fast as it was on a Friday evening. Service was quick to offer cold refreshments. The menu offered many choices and a wide variety. We had the Prime Rib with sauteed mushrooms, salad and loaded baked potato. The prime rib was prepared medium rare as ordered and was tender with a great flavor! Loaded potato was hot and loaded! My husband ordered the all you can eat fish fry. We have been going to BoomTown since it first opened. Our favorite is Friday fish. The batter is great, the atmosphere is friendly and staff are great. The concern is they have changed the Friday fish- no baked potato option and they now serve fish sticks!! Please go back to the same fish you served before covid. PLEASE!!!!!! Four of us went to dinner this evening. We were seated in the bar immediately. We got our drinks and were able to order. Sorry to say that our meal took almost an hour to get and to top it off our meals were cold! We were so disappointed we took our meals home so we could get them hot. We let the waitress know and she was apologetic. We all have not ever had such a bad experience with their food but sorry to say we were disappointed. we hope this is a one time occurrence as the iron range does not have a very good selection of nice places to have a good meal. I've been to this restaurant twice now. The first time it was fir my sister's Birthday party. I had a prime rib. It sure didn't taste like one, it had very little flavor and wasn't as tender as I expected it to be; This was before Covid. Tge second time I went was this year, (2022) I had a hamburger it was great steak like taste. :D However, my mother who I took there fir hwr birthday wasn't happy with her steak and was convinced that it was "glued" together(?) she saud that butchers will piece together bits of steak to make a whole one(!) abd that's what she got. All I know is that she couldn't chew it as it was almost all gristle and tendons. Please, manager/owner consider the possibility of this being true, cook up some steaks and take a few bites and see if your butcher is scaming you! Anyway, I just wanted to bring this to your attention but not hurt your business (I'd give 5 star if you'd add in a few less expensive lunch options for a quick bite to eat.) read more

I don't write many one star reviews and I'm sad to do this to a hometown restaurant. In the hopes of improving, here it is. First, the atmosphere and food was great. The cooks did a good job on most of the orders. However, the service was not adequate for any food venue. We waited quite awhile just to order and get our drinks. My flight of Jameson sat empty on the side of our table for most of the meal. I would not order any more drinks because I wasn't going to give them any more of my money. We ordered Poutine and it was very good (would recommend) but to wait 25 minutes for an appetizer was a little too much. Two people ordered meals with a salad. One got hers and the other came after the entree because it was forgotten. Three of the Four meals were warm and dry from sitting under the heat lamps too long. One was the kabobs ordered medium. They were maybe medium rare if not just rare. We decided to bring them home a finish cooking them for breakfast since the Poutine already filled her tummy. The waitress then brought us two cake desserts for her subpar service. Two of us cannot eat cake and the others were too full to bother. If she would have bothered to ask we would have told her. We instead gave them to two other diners we are friends with. So, they did not go to waste. So, for a Poutine app, flight of Jameson, beef kabobs, rueben and a specialty drink, we paid just over $60 before tip. The other party had a bill of over $50. For those prices, in northern Minnesota especially, the service and orders had better be considerably better than what we were met with. Good luck to Boomtown restaurant in Eveleth. We went in for an afternoon bite and I wasn't even hungry so I had planned to share a burger with my husband. I got the Cajun Blue cheese burger and it was so melt in your mouth good I may have eaten the whole thing!! The place was very clean and the ambiance of the whole place represents the range to a T!
