The chili is more that a condiment, it a major part of the dish. The chili was not spicy, a combination of meat and beans, nothing special, it could be from a can, if it was home made I would be surprised. The Cheese was a mild blend of cheddar and white cheese, from a bag, not fresh grated. The onions were fresh chopped. The bun and dog were Casper's. Bacon Wrapped Dog with mustard, onion and tomato (4 stars). The bun was fresh, but not steamed like Casper's. The Bacon was slightly crispy and a decent quality. Today was my first time visiting and unfortunately it left a very unwelcoming impression. The shop closes at 3:00 PM. We walked in at 2:25 PM, well before closing. There was no greeting at all when we entered, we were the ones who said hello first. The employee appeared annoyed from the moment we walked in. She took our order and immediately told us it had to be to-go because they were closing soon. We received our hot dogs by 2:38 PM, I find it a bit ridiculous to be forced out that early when we clearly could have finished our food in under 20 minutes, especially since we arrived a full 30 minutes before closing. There was no "hello," no "thank you," and no "goodbye." The entire interaction felt rushed and uncomfortable, as if our presence was an inconvenience rather than welcomed business. So we tried Boondoggies for the first time and we liked it a lot. They deliver where it counts - the hot dogs are excellent! Our group tried several specialty options, sides, and nachos, and everyone agreed the Casper dogs were a standout. Although for me personally I definitely preferred the build-your-own for the customized toppings over the specialty dogs. The main drawback for us was the nacho cheese sauce because we felt that it didn't match the quality of everything else. The location was clean and well-organized, and the customer service was excellent. We found the staff to be friendly, attentive, helpful, and patient. We were a fan of the decor, especially with the festive holiday touches that added a cheerful atmosphere. Boondoggies is doing a lot right. Decent dogs, but priced a bit high. I'm not the biggest hotdog fan, but my wife is. She grew up down the way from Caspers in PH. So being able to have a Casper dog locally, brings her a bite of nostalgia. The dogs are totally decent, I thought mine were good the few times we went. They also have nachos and Frito boats etc. All of it is a throwback to treats we had as kids. I'm a fan of tater tots and theirs did not disappoint. But as I said earlier, the price is a little steep. I know running a business is not cheap. But I think when people buy hotdogs they aren't thinking of the final price tag. We paid in the neighborhood of $32 for cheese nachos, a Casper dog, polish dog and 1 ice tea. I get paying those kinda prices at an event or the theater etc. It just feels a bit steep for a standalone shop. There is indoor seating and some tables and chairs outside with a shade sail. The staff was friendly, but the wait time seemed a bit long considering there wa wonky one couple ahead of us. But I also understand they were doing mobile orders. It seemed very undersized compared to other Casper I've had brand not 100% sure it's an official Casper. Hotdog was Luke warm at best, the cheese barely melted on it, bacon bits almost nonexistent, considering the up charge for adding bacon. Extremely disappointed in the new owners decline of establishment since taking over. For a Friday night, the place was empty. This should've been my first clue. I eat here at least once every couple of weeks. It definitely helps that they're just a block away from where I work. I always frequent their food truck at local events as well! I absolutely LOVE their chili dogs!! I always need to have a custom order made and they know my order by heart, which I love. Saddest excuse for a hotdog specific eatery. Their Casper dog is cooked in a pot of water because all the flavor has leeched out of the hotdog. It's super sad and bland for $10. The bacon bits also has absolutely no flavor or crunch. HOW DO YOU SCREW UP BACON?? Whoever opened this place up has no idea how to cook a hotdog. Here's a tip. Use a non stick pan or cast iron. Put 1/2 inch of water in the pan, bring it to a boil, then put it on medium high heat. Put your hotdogs on the pan, let it steam cook, roll them around until the water evaporates. Then leave it on for a little more to brown. Flavor stays in the hotdog and it becomes nice and browned. It's really not hard to cook a already cooked meat. read more
