I am a visitor in Tucson and wanted to purchase a pair of boots. I'm so happy that I found this amazing store. In the past, I've had trouble finding boots that fit me properly and now I realize that was because the sales person did not take the extra time and effort to measure both feet properly and then bring a number of boots in my size to let me find the one that was most comfortable. Boot Bunkhouse is a little place with a surprisingly decent selection of cowboy boots. I met A there at lunch because she is bound and determined to find the perfect pair of boots because really, every girl needs a pair of fashion cowboy boots. It's a comfortable shopping environment and the owner is helpful with just the right amount of fun and sarcasm to make your experience unique from bigger stores with less personality. He brought out the two pair A wanted to try on as well as a few other pair he thought she might like based on her previous selection. Prices are consistent with other local stores selling similar merchandise. Unfortunately, A didn't LOVE anything today although she liked quite a few. But when you're spending a couple hundred dollars on boots, I think you need to LOVE them. We were told when it is best to come back to see all the new women's fashion boots later in the year as they arrive from designers and manufacturers. I stopped by to get a pair of cowboy boots. I have not been a big fan of cowboy boots, but a recent personal event made me reconsider. After doing a quick search on Yelp, I decided to give a shot at Boot Bunkhouse. An elderly gentleman (I assume the best, until proven otherwise...Sorry Chuck!) greets you in a casual but helpful way. Chuck is eager to present you with all options in boots and he provides guidance without being pushy. He was helpful and got me 10+ pairs of boots to try on. In addition to his customer serivie, there is another reason for buying shoes from him. As long as you don't have wear the boots outside (showing wear), you can return within 30 days. This is a great policy for those of us who may want to take these home and ponder the consequences. Here is a bit I found oit about the owner, Chuck. First of all, I think he is an example of what makes this country great. America is the only country I know where hard work is rewarded without prejudice. We root for hard workers and we root for the underdogs. (Sometimes, I do feel we pull for the unqualified undeserving underdogs, but I digress.) Chuck shared with me how he started with a small amount of money. He drove to El Paso to buy the boots and came to Tucson and sold them at the fairs and markets for profit. He kept driving back and forth to El Paso to Tucson in his truck to keep making a little more. After decades, he has his own store; It is not fancy, but it is a wonderful homely place, a symbol of Americana. Chuck is an example of what hardwork can do. Rather than waiting for a handout, this man went to make something great with his blood and sweat. Let's root for Chuck and others who believe that we can still make it with a little bit of ingenuity, a lot of perseverance, and hard work. Based on Yelp reviews, I took my destroyed feet to Boot Bunkhouse, hoping to get a pair of Western boots that I could tolerate for an hour or two. Chuck listened to my tale and said that only one brand of boot would possibly work. He carries only one model of that brand and was out of my size. But he measured my feet and told me what to get. And then he recommended that I go to a competitor, where there would be a much larger selection. He even spoke well of this competitor, saying they would know how to fit these unfortunate feet. Why do people in sales think it's a good idea to be condescending to their customers. As I'm browsing, an elderly man approaches me and asks what I am looking for. I replied that I didn't know and he retorts with "You don't know?" and held an arrogant smirk. Now, in the big scheme of the things this is minor but what happened to sales people offering help? Rather than standing there with a smirk, he should have asked "What occasion will you be wearing the boots?", "Have you had cowboy boots before?" He makes you feel right at home in his store as well and gives you an education in proper boot fit and more! Chuck took the time to explain to me what my proper size is, and even though my actual size is not readily available off the rack, he had a couple pairs in stock. I found the other shops in town and in Phoenix didn't want to take the time to help me find boots that fit the kids. Chuck told me I was wearing the wrong size boot. So he ordered me a pair in the size I needed according to him. They came in way too big, he put in a leather insole and told me I had to wear heavy socks with them. I told him that they were still too big, he said take them and wear them. So I did. After I wore them 2 times, I went back and he said I will have them remade. After 6 months he says I cant find anyone to remake them. I will clean the sole up and try and sell them for you. Those boots never came out of the box. So now I have a pair of 400 dollar boots that he sized and are at least a size to big. Shame on me for believing he knew what he was doing when he sized my foot. Beware, when you ask a question and don't get an answer. That's what he did to me! read more

I needed some work boots, went in to find comfortable, long wear, at any expense. Chuck measured me up and before I knew it, had me in a 10 wide, which I never knew I wore. He is the best shoe man I have ever met. I must have steel toe, my whole life has been a painful workday, has always rubbed big toes, and at the end of a workday, couldn't wait to get my boots off. Now Chuck has set me straight on what size I need, and I never even know I'm wearing steel toes. I am upper middle aged person and have been sized many times in my life, never have been measured properly by umpteen salesmen that didn't know what they were doing. I stopped in hoping for a great pair of quality boots. Unfortunately the gentleman I presume to be the owner was less than attentive. After waiting about 45 minutes for him to help another customer I sat down waiting for him to finish. He finished his sale and said he wasn't sure how to help me so he walked by and went to help someone who just walked in.
