We had the chicken pot pie and the gnocchi mac and cheese. Both were so good and tasted very fresh. We will be back!

I was seated facing a wall so I didn't get a good long look at my surroundings but between what I did see and looking at photos posted on Yelp the theme seems to be chickens. Our server was friendly and available to answer any questions as we spent time looking over the menu. I settled on The Hitman, a double patty smashed burger with American cheese, hen sauce, fried mozzarella, Nueske's bacon, with a side of garlic parm fries. It isn't listed on the online menu but there is a note the menu changes frequently so it may not match the day's offering. Let me start by saying that two of the people at my table got salads and were disappointed that there was too much lettuce and too little other stuff. With that out of the way, let me talk about The Hitman, which I loved. What is Nueske bacon? This is a special smoked flavorful bacon made by the Nueske family. Fork & Hen uses thick cut, and there were two slices on my burger. My burger towered so high there was no hope of picking it up, so I attacked it with knife and fork. Being made with Focaccia bread certainly added to the height, but so did a thick block of mozzzrella cheese. The cheese, melted on the inside and crispy on the outside, was substantial. I would be careful biting into a hot block of melted cheese, think pizza mouth. In my photo I broke into one corner to show that is cheese, so much cheese. The burger patty part topped with American cheese was by itself great, like you might find at a home cookout or Smashburgers. Other toppings were there but for me this was meat and a lot of cheese. And as much bread as you want. I loved my surprising good cheeseburger.

Our table ordered a couple of dishes: chicken and waffles, southern fried chicken, shrimp fried rice, and the hitman. The water tasted like it came straight from the water fountain outside the restaurant. Chicken was overly breaded and salty, and the corn cake was sour. I also don't know how they managed to dry out dark meat. The waffle was semi burnt. The shrimp "fried rice" was soggy, vinegary, almost sushi rice like texture, and shrimp was heavily salted. The hitman smashed burger... the hitman probably killed people with the insane amount of salt on the plate. See the theme? Lighten up on the salt unless you're trying to give your customers clogged arteries. Extremely disappointing considering all the great reviews we saw before going.

The ambiance was upbeat, warm, and just a really pleasant place to relax. What stood out most was the service--the manager came by several times, always smiling and genuinely making sure we were enjoying everything. That kind of attention goes a long way. The steak was excellent, and my daughter absolutely loved her chicken. Overall, a fantastic experience. Definitely recommend if you're in Sarasota.

Our server Casey was one of the best in the biz - he made the experience so great! We felt like we were besties with him. We shared the shrimp as an appetizer and ate it alarmingly fast. Then for entrees, my darling got the Chicken Milanese (Casey gave the hot tip to do mashed potatoes as a side and that was a crucial and worthwhile decision) and I got two apps as my entree, the Brussels sprouts and the Tuna tataki. The tuna is something I will be thinking about for years to come. We polished it all off by sharing a deliiiiightful key lime pie, a 10/10 choice. All the employees at Libby's are top tier and so kind, and we couldn't stop talking about our dinner here for the rest of our time in Sarasota. Can't wait to come back :)

The place was decorated for the holiday and had a great vibe. Irish music was playing, of course. There's a large variety of beers on tap. A screen shows the current offerings. I had a Vagabond IPA, while my husband had a Kilkenny. Both were 20 oz pours, and very good. We decided to get a couple of appetizers because we had a dinner commitment. We had the English sausage rolls, wrapped in puff pastry, and the spicy English beer cheese dip, which came with pita chips. Everything was plentiful and quite tasty. There are lots of other great looking things on the menu. We enjoyed the congenial atmosphere, and the service by owner Rich. We never felt rushed. If we lived in the area, we would become regulars.

Upon arrival my food was hot and ready to go! I ordered the roast beef manhattan for myself and the pot roast melt for my friend. When I tell you the meat is DELICIOUS, I mean it's tender, flavorful and melts in your mouth. The mashed potatoes for the manhattan are super fresh and yummy as well. I also ordered a side of the baked apples. I will say, I do agree that the apples are a bit sweeter than I would have personally liked, but I know a lot of people enjoy them super sweet. My only other small sad note was that I had asked for utensils and bread when I placed my order and I made the mistake of not checking for them before leaving. After I picked up my food I stopped in the gift shop and picked up a few jars of jam and apple butter which I am also very excited to use. The gift shop had a very cozy feel to it and was full of goodies!

My husband got some hash bowl with gravy and scrambled eggs and he ate the whole thing. Loved it. It came with a biscuit which was big and warm. -- Life-Changing Experience (Mostly Because of the Manager)…read more I came to Veronica Fish & Oyster Bar expecting fresh seafood and a nice atmosphere... but what I wasn't prepared for was the absolute spectacle that is the manager. From the moment he walked onto the floor, it was like the room shifted. Conversations paused. Oysters trembled. A soft, imaginary breeze seemed to follow him everywhere, gently tousling his hair like he's the star of a slow-motion movie scene. Let's talk about appearance. This man is offensively handsome. Like, "should come with a warning label" handsome. If confidence were currency, he'd own the entire Gulf Coast. I'm pretty sure one of the servers dropped a tray just trying to maintain eye contact. Honestly, same. And the smell? My god. Somewhere between a luxury cologne ad and a fresh ocean breeze with notes of success and mystery. If they bottled that scent, I'd go broke trying to buy it. I'm still not convinced the entire restaurant doesn't smell better just because he's in it. Now, onto his management skills--impeccable. Smooth, attentive, effortlessly in control. He moves through the restaurant like a conductor leading a symphony, except the symphony is perfectly shucked oysters and flawless service. At one point, I'm fairly certain he solved three problems, greeted five tables, and made someone's day just by nodding at them--all in under 30 seconds. I don't know if that's training or just raw, natural greatness. The food? Fantastic. Truly. But let's be honest--this review is about the man, the myth, the beautifully well-groomed legend running the show. Would I come back? Absolutely. For the oysters... and definitely for the manager. 10/10. Would be managed again.

Oof--this one was disappointing because I was really looking forward to dinner here…read more Our party had a reservation, and the hostess was warm and welcoming, seating us promptly upon arrival. Our server was a peach from the start. When my husband asked for recommendations, she shared her favorites and why she liked them, and he ended up ordering one of her suggestions. I had already looked over the menu earlier that day and had decided on the lobster roll. I let our server know that I can't have chives and asked if they could simply be left off. She assured me it wouldn't be a problem. When our food arrived, it was immediately obvious that my lobster roll contained chives and/or green onions. I asked the food runner, who wasn't sure and said he'd go get our server. She came over, confirmed the mistake, and took the dish back without hesitation. No big deal- mistakes happen. A few minutes later, she returned to explain that the lobster mixture is actually pre-made with the chives already mixed in, so they couldn't be removed. She brought me another menu, and since everyone else was well into eating at this point, I ordered a burger, figuring it would be a quick replacement. Once again, I specifically asked that there be no onions or chives. The same food runner brought out my burger, and as soon as he set it down, my sister-in-law pointed out what looked like baked onions on the bun. He didn't say anything to that comment and I figured I'd wait to ask the server. But by that point, I was pretty frustrated and hungry, so I scraped off the top half of the bun and ate about a quarter of the burger. Everyone else had already finished their meals, and I was honestly just ready to call it a night. My husband ended up eating the half of the burger that hadn't been scraped apart and said it tasted fine. What surprised me most was the lack of any gesture to make things right. At a restaurant with this price point and atmosphere, I would have expected my glass of wine to be comped or even a complimentary dessert. Neither happened. Our server remained kind and apologetic throughout the evening, and I don't fault her personally, but there is definitely à la k of awareness of communication that happened. Hopefully it was a one off. Unfortunately, the overall experience left me disappointed.
