The Artisan Cheese Company is a woman owned epicurean food shop. We visited on a weekday afternoon and it had a steady stream of locals. The space isn't huge, but inside is bright with big windows filled with goodies strewn about. In the rear is the order counter behind the cured meats and cheeses. There are few dining tables next to the patio as well as a handful of tables on their patio. +++ The ACC seems to specialize in harder to locate artisan cheeses, butters, gourmet goodies for pantries and has a limited rotating lunch menu. They have so many of my favorites that are difficult to locate, it was impressive. I found Ploughgate cultured butter for the first time in several years, Jasper Hill, Monista teas, Spanish Marconas and even Meridith Dairy marinated cheese here!! DelightFuL to find such a well stocked market! They also serve interesting and comforting light lunches and offer beautifully prepared charcuterie boards. Everything we tried was delicious! We had their open face grilled cheese, tomato soup and tacos which seemed more like tostadas with interesting toppings. Excellent selection of artisanal cheeses - often small batch produced and options you won't find else where. I loved their selection of goats cheeses and also one that had truffle. Can buy to take home but also options to sit in and enjoy in a nice atmosphere. Very professional and knowledgeable staff. I had discovered this place on social media and decided to drive down to see what yummy goat & sheep cheeses they had. Also to support a local business. The cheese guy/monger? behind the counter was super helpful letting me try different cheeses and giving me recommendations based on my preferences to find exactly the right ones. He was very knowledgeable & they had some great selections that I had never had before. The two pictured below in the wraps were my favorites and absolutely delicious. Not an every day cheese but definitely a treat. The homemade beet hummus is not to be missed. I had it on sandwiches & added it to my root vegetable bowls at home. And that bread...wow! It was soft with a little sweetness. I was addicted. I'm kinda glad I don't live to close this place could be dangerous lol. Saying that, I'll definitely be back & next time bring my Mom too. A truly lovely place. While this is a cheese shop selling all the goods that cheese shops have it also has some baked goods, natural wine, cider, beer, and a few menu items. You can take any of these to go or eat in at some of the tables and counters they have. The space is light and minimalist. The service is icredibly helpful and knowledgeable. This place is a little slice of heaven. The kind people who work here, the food and all of the beautiful honey, jams and other products that you don't find anywhere else. Not only that, I wanted to bake some sourdough bread while I was in town to give to my neighbors. The wonderful baker gave me some starter and I was happily baking by the next day. I spotted this place as I drove by, and am glad that I turned around! as the name implies, they sell cheese! Cheese and charcuterie boards and wine and sandwiches, all things that I love. There are a couple of outdoor tables, that looked lovely, but since I was about to catch on fire from my kayaking sunburn, I went inside and ate at one of the semi-communal tables. They have a charcuterie board for 2-ish people. The woman at the counter assured me that she has polished them off herself before, so it wouldn't be too much of a challenge! Because I don't eat much meat, I requested for an extra cheese, and that was no problem. Upon further dithering, she told me that there was a not listed "snack plate" with 2 cheese and a meat, or 3 cheese if you prefer, and some nuts and fruit, so I happily ordered that and a glass of white wine. She brought the plate out and walked me through the selections - a yellow based blue cheese, which was mild for a blue, a sharp white, and a creamy brie type. I apologize, I don't recall any of the names. Fun fact, the ladies who shared my table ordered the charcuterie board, and they received different cheeses, so they really do mix things up! I did not ask for anything particular on my plate, but I'm sure that would be fine if you would prefer to have a particular kind of cheese or not. The fruits were ripe and a nice mix, the cheeses were very tasty and I thought the portions were generous! The place has a great vibe, so I hung out for a while working on a Sudoku and had a great time! My girlfriend who lives in Sarasota brought me here for lunch yesterday. We split the taco (2 large tacos to an order) and each ordered the soup of the day, which was a vegetable soup. We sat outside and they brought our meals to us. The tacos were absolutely amazing: layers of different delicious flavors - a party in your mouth. Unfortunately the vegetable soup was more like a consommé with some fresh celery and tomatoes. Neither of us finished our soups. The service was excellent. The place is basically a cheese purveyor with 4 or 5 dishes that rotate daily. I would definitely go back for the tacos. But skip the soup. read more

Last week, I had a little time to kill before dinner, so I stopped by the Artisan Cheese Company in Sarasota. They looked like they had some nice cheese and wine options, so I had to explore. I found the cheese selection and accoutrements to be quite nice. The store had a great selection of natural wines as well. They offered a few wines by the glass, so I decided to grab one along with the cambozola plate. It was served with a local strawberry vanilla jam that complimented it very well. I noticed they had a nice selection of Jasper Hill Farm cheeses, so I opted to try a sampler of those. Everything I had was exceptional and the service was on point as well. I walked in today around 10:40. I was told I would have to wait until menu came out at 1100. A gentleman walked in, a regular I assume. Menu was not out about 10:50. U let him order the tacos. That was okay, I kept waiting. 1100 came. No menu, no one asked if I wanted to order. Left, went down the street. I have bought several cheeses there, anchovies. I have eaten lunch there twice. We loved starting our day in Sarasota with a wonderful cheese board from Artisan Cheese Co! We had just walked by and noticed the little store front and decided to walk in to check it out. The woman behind the counter was friendly - she asked if we had been in before and what we were looking for. She kindly explained their cheese board options and gave us the menu with the cheese list. We decided to go with the 3 cheese option and 2 glasses of red wine. The board was beautiful. I almost didn't want to eat it, but let's be real, I love cheese too much. The lady also brought out a sample of their bleu cheese - I'm normally not a fan, but this one was creamy and more smooth in taste! We loved all of the cheeses on our charcuterie board! My favorite was the white cheddar - I just love when cheese has those crunchy crystals! We loved sitting at the table and looking out the big front window. Finally stopped by the Artisan Cheese Company and it was fabulous. Enjoyed the 2-person charcuterie board which had 3 different types of cheeses, soppresseta meat, various crackers, fruit, pickles & peppers, nuts, local honey & mustard. We were quite full afterwards. We also had probiotic sodas that were very tasty. The employees had a deep knowledge base about all the cheeses and accoutrements and told us all about the selections as well as other cheeses behind the cases. They pick out the cheese for you when you order a cheese board. Since we ordered during happy hour (4-5:30pm) they gave us an extra cheese! I mentioned a strong blue cheese is not my fav. Therefore they still include a blue cheese for my BF but it was a subtle flavor and I still liked it. We left with several staff-recommended cheeses based on what we said we liked and 2 bottles of wine also recommended to pair with the cheeses. I came for lunch here one day while on vacation. I came with 4 other people and we all got the pimento grilled cheese. We had the option to add meat, I think this day it was soppressata but, I opted out. The sandwich was delicious. Buttery and smooth. It also came with a bit of greens on the side just in a simple vinaigrette which broke up the heavy sandwich nicely. The service was also something I was not expecting because it was great. Order a cheese plate and relax at the table. Its a great atmosphere and terrific location. If you're looking to satisfy a big appetite or to save money, don't come here. The experience is about quality, not quantity - as it should be. Great cheese is expensive, so get over the price before you come in. My only reservation is that the variety and quality of wine doesn't stand up to the cheese selection. Last evening they were serving an Italian pinot grigio and a Chilean pinot noir, and neither was worth remembering. Just another quality bottle or two to choose from would have been nice. read more

I was so happy to find a new location of the artisan cheese company. I frequented their location on main street but this one is so much better. Their new location is roomy and light and has beautiful tables and a unique space to show their fabulous food selection. They have a wonderful menu for lunch and they have decadent Wines and food offerings that you can buy to take home as well. I have been visiting Artisan Cheese Company for a handful of years now. I remember their first location and the months of waiting for this new location to open. I go back again and again for several reasons: 1. Louise and her staff know their stuff. 2. The cheesemongers are great at recommending new cheeses to try. 3. The people in the kitchen create magic in the shape of grilled cheese toasties, soups, bowls, tacos, scones, pies, pizza kits... I can keep going. 4. I know that every single product on their shelf is quality, as is the service my wife and I will receive. I don't live in Sarasota, but I make the drive down fairly frequently. If you find yourself in Sarasota make sure to put this place on your to-do list. Seriously. It's a well curated shop with tons of quality goodies and the atmosphere is perfection. The owner was most helpful as were her assistants. I explained that I found the shop from Instagram and was eager to stop in. Artisan Cheese Company carries artisan small-batch goods from across the U.S. -- I bought hard salami from Virginia, cold brew coffee concentrate from North Carolina, an artisan chili cinnamon chocolate bar from Tennessee, jam from California (it's usually delivered by bike!), and the list goes on. The cheeses were also amazing and you can ask to sample any of them. If I lived in Sarasota I'd certainly enroll in one of the cheese tastings. They even sell fresh bread that's baked daily at a local bakery down the street. Love this place! Wish we had one in Jacksonville.
