This place packs a punch when it comes to the style of the place. When you walk in you're immediately transported to an elegant 1950s style New York diner. It's a photogenic place, and somewhere you can relax over breakfast. They open at 8am and serve breakfast, lunch, and some dinner meals too. I went for the Latke eggs Benedict with pastrami. The hollandaise sauce was flavorful but the pastrami portion was really quite small. The coffee was disappointing; quite watery without a real flavor. I'd skip that next time. Service was excellent. Next time I think I'd do the pastrami or corned beef Sandwiches. Well worth a try if you're in downtown Sarasota.

This is the spot for a light, delicious soup and sandwich. Can't beat their 'Pickle for a Nickle' either, two (2) picks and some coleslaw. The whitefish croquettes are my absolute favorite. I could eat ten dozen and it get enough! Dustin was courteous and had great recommendations. His vibe was calm and kept tabs on what was needed even before we asked. Give the Matzo Ball soup a try, it worked great for that Sunday morning headache!

Sooo Palm Avenue Deli was recommended to us by the hotel we were staying at, and I'm glad we took the walk over because breakfast was delicious. I loved the old diner vibe, the order status sign, jukebox, photos, and even the little touches like the bill holder. Our waitress was funny and kind, which made the experience even better. Everything we ordered hit the spot. If you're visiting or in the area for breakfast, I definitely recommend stopping by. What was ordered: Pad Breakfast Sandwich = simple but satisfying Scrambled Eggs with Sausage & Bacon = classic and tasty

    Blueberry NY STYLE CHEESECAKE

Palm Ave is a classic deli in downtown Sarasota, Florida. I had the 1871 sandwich, which is like a Reuben, but with navel pastrami instead of corned beef. Juicy and drippy. My wife had stuffed cabbage, which was flavorful, and perhaps the best thing we tried at the Palm. We shared a fluffy blueberry cheesecake for dessert. I included a picture of the wall of photos of famous guests, and a look past the bar into the kitchen. There is a garage next door. Cheap plentiful parking, but it relies on the obtuse Park Mobile app.

Probably being a little generous with the four stars. More like 3.75 - had the Reuben it was very solid, a tad dry - had to ask for a little more thousand island, but it was very good - not Hall of Fame but I will be back.

Visited here for my birthday because of their matcha waffle and it did NOT disappoint. I didn't expect a name with deli in it to look so cute but it was honestly designed better than most restaurants i went to. It definitely made my birthday breakfast experience amazing. The matcha waffle had a guava condensed milk topping on it and i've been craving it ever since, along with their dessert mocha . Must try!!

Highly reviewed Deli in the neighborhood of my hotel I'm staying in for work. I spend a two days in Sarasota a month at minimum, so I'll constantly looking for great places to eat. I've walked by the Palm deli many times late at night when it's closed. It's a very nice space inside. The ordering system is confusing, there's a self order and pay kiosk, which I found to be a pain in the ass and abandoned my order half way through the confusion. Go to the counter and place your order and find a table. Cappuccino was great, latkes were big and tasty served with applesauce and sour cream. The pastrami egg and cheese on bagel was mediocre at best. I've been to 20+ places that have better breakfast bagels. The bagel was dry, and the amount of pastrami was a joke compared to the pictures I saw online! I had a slice, maybe a slice and a half of pastrami for $14?!? Unacceptable in my book. Many pics on Yelp and Google show heaping piles of pastrami, but I got a crappy sandwich. I Wasn't happy. If I am to go back, I may not get a bagel Sammie, I might go with a platter or other plated bfast.

    Falafel Burger

Same owner as Kojo & Bar Hana (did not get to enjoy this yet but it's beautiful, intimate & worth going back for). The only disappointment was there needs to be a few things more vegan. Especially the latke (one of the easiest things to make). Now to the best part of the review. I have to say that the Falafel Burger is BY FAR THE BEST falafel I've ever had (outside of Israel)! & that says a lot. Bruenson (pronounced Brunson; I think that was the spelling, apologies if I misspelled it) was absolutely fantastic. He was helpful, kind, & extremely knowledgeable about the menu. I'm the only vegan in my family & he was so helpful. I do believe that for a fantastic New York style deli, the bagel game needs to be stepped up. It came out hard, chewy at the beginning, & hardened up real quick. I like to eat my bagel last (cuz it's the best part of my meal lol) & unfortunately it did jot meet the standards). My family also ordered bagels, & it was the same. Overall, fantastic experience & one with which I would return to again. I even recommended it to someone staying at my hotel. Thank you Palm Avenue Deli Team!

Corned Beef Hash & Eggs Plate

I'll start with what was very good - the Reuben. Palm Ave is apparently best know for their classic pastrami sandwiches but I couldn't pass up a Rueben. The corned beef was moist and delicious. Perhaps it could be a bit bigger with a touch more sauerkraut but really it couldn't have tasted much better. Highly recommended. The side knish was ok, in all honesty I think it may have been a Costco knish. They had good deli mustard on the table which was appreciated. Hot Honey Waffle & Chicken came with a nice portion of fried chicken. It did seem to be a bit over cooked. Lots of flavor, definitely on the hot side. Eggs hash was not a hit. The eggs over easy on top were prepared well but the corned beef in the hash was too chunky and had an odd taste, somewhat like old oil. Most was left over. Making it worse, they were out of Hollandaise sauce and couldn't make the latke eggs Benny so the eggs hash was a second choice. Probably best to stick to NY deli classics which seems to be their strength. Service was ok but not too attentive. The interior of the restaurant is reminiscent of a NY deli, but cleaner. Prices a bit on the higher side but not outrageous.

Consistent , it is our go-to for pastrami & matzah ball soup. Never fails to satisfy us. Today temp is a cool 71. What can be better than this stop. Try it, you will be quite pleased. Staff professional and friendly. Price is fair too!

This is my first visit for lunch. I tried based on recommendation. The place was packed and I know why the food is absolutely amazing and the atmosphere is great if you're looking for a true New York deli this is your place.

Drinks very reasonable and decent volume/quantity/pour. A buck for my soda water with lemon..... a bargain for the driver and non-drinker! The boss got 10 wings, 1/2 parm cheese and 1/2 barbecue. The reputation is best wings in Sarasota??? She like flats only and we paid $1 for just flats. This was a very nice option as I the whole food plant based "spartan vegan" will usually cringe at leaving those drums behind or wasted??? I did try one of each though. I believe they are baked and then before serving deep fried to crisp them up and heat them. Sadly the barbecued ones where burnt (see picture) and a little too crisped. The meat and most of the wing and the flavor was pretty good. 5/10 The parm wings where actually the opposite and the meat and wing undercooked, but the deep fry dunking crisped up the skin which would have been really raw and rubbery. These were also seasoned nicely and tasty. 8/10 Both easily fantastic with attention to pre-cooking and cooking? I got the Cup o' Spuds (sweet potato) in a little basket. These were pretty deeply fried and a few blackened/burnt but were nice and hot and flavorful and couple burned gave it some character and was a big deal. The menu is very limited for whole food plant based, vegetarian, vegan, nutritarian mix and match or anything....... so went with one of the three salads. the Side Salad I got an entree size. Romaine, diced tomatoes, cucumbers and black olives and a balsamic. My server missed my point after the second ask about adding "protein". I would have LOVED to have seen some black, pinto, kidney, navy, garbanzo, or any kind of BEANS to add to this salad as a "PROTEIN" or a quinoa, or even scoop of rice or edamame or even a few chunks of toasted or grilled tofu!!!! The salad ingredients were fresh and a nice amount of each. Dressing good but I only used a little since I thought I had asked for Balsamic Vinegar (no oil) and this was a Balsamic "Dressing" with actually quite a bit of oil. Service by "Nightime Bar B" was very attentive and friendly. REALLY good! Fielded our myriad of questions and we were never wanting or waiting. We had a long discussion about the wings which is why my wife wanted to go here. Maybe I should have put this first.......but the pricing was EXTREMELY reasonable especially for Main Street and I guess technically IN Season? The drinks about $12 for a Cosmo, Tito and club $10 ? Tax, tags, tip at 20% plus and we got out under $70 for two!!! VERY nice! Good spot. We will be back!!! As we have just about completed the Mainstreet and City of Sarasota circuit these guys are in the "rotation" for a before cabaret or full production play at the FST.

The original, iconic Wolfie Cohen's Rascal House and Wolfie's Delicatessen in Miami Beach & Sunny Isles closed in 2008. The original Miami Beach locations were famous landmarks for 50 years before closing. We almost missed the deli. It's sort of around the corner in a little alleyway. We walked in past the bakery, deli meats, salads, and desserts before getting to the maître D. Danielle waited on us, she was informative and on point. We shared a pastrami on Rye and a potato knish. It was a lot of memorabilia inside as well as a full bar. We sat outdoors. It was a beautiful afternoon. Our potato knish was large. It was enough for two of us, a little cold in the middle. Our pastrami sandwich was too big to fit in my mouth, the meat was a little dry and tough. The dessert we ordered 4 Rugelach that tasted more like cake. I'm glad we shared because this would've been much too much to eat on my own. There seem to be confusion between our waitress and the kitchen, either they brought out something that we didn't order or nothing came out and Danielle thought we were serve served. Our shared dinner was reasonable, $40 for the both of us.

I have no problem with short lists at restaurants, keeps down the microwaving, but the offerings are fairly similar (turkey Vs chicken). One thing I liked was the panini was served with plantain chips and some decent fruit as sides. A nice change. But what I didn't like was I got 3 chips and a ton of fruit and my coworker to the right got three bits of apple and a ton of chips! Some QC is need as the plates go out, which was kind of slow as well. The sandwich was good, not great. And in no way was that a spicy sausage hiding in my panini. I know "spicy" food in Sarasota is often toned down, but they would have been better off calling it a savory sausage instead of spicy. There is a sweet version offered as well, but I typically prefer spicy as all too often I've been seen breakfast links passed off as sweet sausage (which they are) but that is not what I'm looking for during lunch. For the price, the slow service and the strange proportions of sides, the size of the sandwich, panini press gets 2 stars.
