I have lived in this city my whole life but I have never once stopped in Humboldt Park. Yes I have…read moredriven past it and around it but today I drove through it and did I find some fun, cool and interesting places to eat. My second stop was at Papo's Taco Truck...he had a sign hanging out that said $1 Taco Tuesdays...deal of the day if you ask me. So we stopped by and I noticed that there location was not on Yelp yet, so I decided to add them. The first thing I noticed was how clean the truck was. I also noticed that they could tell I was not one of there regular customers. The staff inside of the truck was so friendly and nice. I love customer service and this location was so welcoming and inviting. We ordered a Relleno de papa...which reminded me of an Italian Riceball. It was a Potato ball that was deep fried and had meat inside of it. It was really good and was not greasy at all. Check out the picture...sorry for the bite but my wife could not resist before I was able to get the photo. She did sell me on the fact that the picture looks better if you can see the yummy meat inside. So I will give her that one. I also had a Sorrullo which was a sweet corn bread that was deep fried with cheese on the inside. I really liked it...it was like a desert and a meal all in one. One of the things I noticed was how clean this food truck was. In fact, the back door was open so you could see directly into the food truck. They have nothing to hide here just there good food. We also met a few customers who were sitting at a table just behind the truck enjoying some lunch. One of the patrons showed me his Jibarito Sandwich. It looked so good...it was grilled steak with grilled onions in between two fired plantains that acted as the bun for this amazing looking sandwich. He even let me take a picture of it...I really wanted a bite but that would have been too much to ask for after just meeting this nice guy. We then started talking food and after a while I found out that this customer was also the owner. He was such a nice guy and told me next time I come back I have to order the Jibarito...I said, "But it isnt on the menu!" And he told me, "Just ask for it!" I love that! It's like knowing the secret menu. I loved meeting the owner because he loves his food truck. He is also one of the newest food trucks in the park...only being here for a year. He first started out with Mexican food but has since also added Puerto Rica Food too. As we talked food we were able to meet another owner of the food truck down the street. He came over for some lunch...talk about respect between the food trucks in the park here. It is like one big happy family and they were so accepting of me and my wife. He also invited us down to his truck to eat but honestly I had no more room to put anymore food. I really feel like I stumbled on some hidden food truck mecca in the park. This truck also has a TV mounted on the back of the truck, so you can check out some TV while you are eating your food at the table. Now I went during the week and it was not that crowded but I heard that on the weekends it can get really crowded with all of baseball and soccer games going on in the park. I am proud to be the first person to find this food truck and add this location to Yelp. Being open for a year and not a single review on Yelp makes me so sad. I also encourage other Yelpers to check out all of these amazing food trucks in Humboldt Park. You can drive around and see all of them out or just stop at each one and start eating. I love Chicago...this new adventure makes me feel like I am in some foreign place...but I am so excited for a new found place to eat in Chicago. I am coming back for that Jibarito!!! And if you never seen one of these delicious and unique sandwiches, then check out my photo of it!!! YUM!!!

The food was ok, or so-so...which is bad considering their history. The lechón was mediocre, no seasoning (before you could see it on there.) now it looks like chicken or turkey. The alcapurrias were super greasy, hollow (?) and flavorless. Alcapurrias should be more substantial, not super soft like these. The rice was ok, but again it had no authentic flavor. The pastelillos (ground beef empanadas) were thin and dry. They may have been from yesterday. The passion fruit juice (parcha) is still delicious and the only good thing I had, besides Coco Rico soda. They must have new owners trying to mimic old recipes because this was our second chance attempt. We will now go to La Bomba, Jibaritos y Más or Las Palmas when they open.

She's Mexican but told me about this place. She said there are several food trucks stationed in Humboldt Park, yet this one is her favorite. I believe I had Puerto Rican food before when I was out and about in the city, though I never paid attention to any aromatic mobile vehicle in this neighborhood. Umm...Rosa J., did I not tell you to stay vigilant? Fortunately I had some cash on hand. I scrambled $7 for an order of bistec mixta, which came with arroz. Wow, the rice was SO fresh, and the steak was easy to chew and flavorful. When the young lady was preparing for my food, I was staring at a copious amount of "frituras." They smelled heavenly and were definitely soliciting my taste bud. Well, I gotta get back to work. Fried food doesn't mesh too well with my working stomach. Surely we will meet each other again when I have a day off. I didn't see any credit card machine inside the truck, so I have no doubt it is cash-only. I didn't really notice if their hours were posted on the exterior. I bet it depends based on weather or seasonality.

The portobello po'boy was delicious - bold flavors but still reasonably light since the mushrooms weren't fried. We also got the poutine which came topped with a (vegetarian) gumbo. I believe they also carry a vegan cheese for the poutine if that's something you're looking for. The hot sauces were delicious but proceed with caution with the habanero one as it carries some real heat. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we hope to see The Gilty Pig back at Royal Palms soon!

We very much looking forward to their po boys and were sadly disappointed with the off putting rancid taste of what they call their green goddess spread for the oyster po boy and the worse part was the oyster mushrooms tasted burnt because they were over fried and dark brown. How could you serve this? At this price point of $15 for a mediocre version of a po boy, I wanted so badly to take it back but was not convinced it would be met by a pleasant response to make it any better so took a couple bites but had to take the loss and toss it into our composting. The brisket po boy at $17 was very fatty and again at this price point, the brisket you use for a sandwich should be a leaner cut not a sloppy fatty mess. On the other hand, the cajun gumbo and red beans and rice were seasoned well but portions are quite small for the price of $11 and $9-10. Entree pricing for small side portions is a rip to your customers. We suggest you include sides with your po boys and toss that green goddess spread and make a simple more traditional po boy spread of your own and leave out the herbs because once they go bad, and for whatever reason yours did, they ruin the entire po boy experience. Bottom line, taste your food before you hand it to a customer!

I got the shrimp basket, it came with fries and some lemons in it. The shrimps were great, I was actually expecting just shrimp. The fries are amazing, but I guess that depends on your preference. It's really nicely seasoned. It's not just salt on fries, there's a lot of other spices that I can't place but I love them. Also try squeezing some lemons onto the shrimp. Order came out within 5-10 minutes. The surroundings are just those of a regular food court. I really recommend! Forgive my half empty box, I ate them on the way home

Since their website mentioned they could sell out, I preordered and prepaid online for a 5:30 PM pickup. Unfortunately, when we arrived, our order wasn't ready, which was disappointing because preordering is supposed to save time. There were only about four other people waiting and two employees working the truck. We ended up waiting close to 20 minutes for our food. As for the meal itself, the lobster was fresh, buttery, and flavorful. I wish the rolls had more of a toasted crispness, they were squished flat. We also weren't fans of the coleslaw because it tasted overly vinegary, maybe it was just an off day? We would have preferred some crunchy french fries versus the Cape Cod Chips. The highlight of the meal ended up being the chocolate whoopie pie for dessert -- absolutely delicious! Not sure if we would try it again?
