I've shopped here multiple times to get gifts for nieces/nephews - babies of friends - etc. They carry an excellent variety of toys, gifts and clothing for babies and toddlers. Not cheap lol BUT quality of the products is excellent. Today I was helped by Robin (Robyn? Not positive on the spelling) but she was SOOOO helpful in recommending good gift options for my buddies kids. She wrapped the clothes beautifully and even noted which box was for which kid. Bizarre experience. Do not recommend. I am visiting from DC and love a good children's boutique. I saw that this alleged boutique was close to our hotel, so my 4 year old daughter and I walked over to have a look. From the moment we walked in, a young woman seemed to be looking over us at every turn. It didn't dawn on me for a while that she was someone who works there, actually following me, presumably for loss prevention reasons, for the precise reason that this HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME EVER BEFORE IN MY LIFE! Usually sales associates flock to me because, based on the way I present myself, they know they are about to make a sizable commission. This might have made more sense if I was dressed casually or something, but I guess they see a lot of thieves wearing Hermes and diamonds? A word of advice to the staff: you sell onesies; get over yourself. Oh, and your selection is very pedestrian; get a new buyer because your sales floor looks like literal garbage. read more

Adorable little boutique, I love the name! I shopped for my beautiful god daughter, Princess Bella. She loves this cartoon with a black crow named Maggie and all things Halloween. Here in this cute little store I came across a perfect dress in a lilac color with little black birds and what looks like little witches! Another great find was a little mint long sleeved dress with a tutu featuring two little cats on it. Can't wait until I get home and give her these little gifts! Not good for buying clothing gifts. My brother bought my son some outfits for his first birthday, but the store clerk didn't recommend sizing up so my son already outgrew the clothes by the time the gift was delivered. When I tried to exchange the 12 month size for 18 month, the store refused to let us exchange sizes or even get a store credit. There are much better, more accommodating stores in the area, like The Children's Boutique, which we'll be shopping at instead in the future. read more

I stopped in today for gifts for a baby shower. They have adorable clothes and I found that they had items at a variety of price points. Some of the clothing is expensive but it is unique as is al of the items in this store. I loved that there were people available to help me shop as I am clueless as to baby items. Highly recommend to grab a cute outfit for a special little one! I was in dire need to purchase a last minute birthday gift and felt super flustered and frustrated on the edge of giving up. But with a glimpse of hope, I came across this gem! Once I entered, I was aww'd with the adorable tiny outfits and the colorful layout of the shop. I've never purchased baby clothes but a friendly staff member recommended me several adorable styles and outfits. They also wrapped the outfits neatly in a box with ribbons as a finish. When I called he happened to be stopping by the store and when he heard I was leaving town today, he offered to open the store for me!!!! It was good. The staff did not acknowledge my presence- even at the register I had to ask for help to pay for my stuff, I mean COME ON-so that is why it is missing one star. The other reason it is missing another star is that the clothing is in no way affordable- but hey, if you are looking for high end items for a 1 month to seven year old this place is for you. I did buy my 6yo daughter an amazing skirt that none of her classmates better find anywhere else and a lovely sweater for my 4yo son. I had almost forgotten about this place. When the first of my friends decided to have a baby, I came here to find something special. I probably should have been smart enough to go someplace else when I realized you have to be buzzed into the shop. Please, you're selling overpriced children's clothing, not weapons. I know, some bum from Rittenhouse Park might wander in, but you're in Philly and that is a risk most retailers are willing to take. So of course I was ignored, which is a shame for them because I had no idea what I was doing and probably could have been taken advantage of. Yes, the clothes are cute. But I know whatever I buy is going to have vomit/snot/food/dirt on it eventually and be outgrown in a month, sooooo why should I pay this much for an outfit again? (insert joke about not being BORN YESTERDAY here) They have cute toys, too, the kind that people pretend make their kids smarter. I was followed around the store and made to feel like I was not wanted in the store. I was looking for a particular musical instrument for my soon to be 2 year old but did not find what I was looking for. I was asked several times if there was anything else they could help me with (several times before I realized what was happening). I am a 40 year old, African American lawyer, working in Center City. Unfortunately, it took several visits to that store to realize the profiling was not just my imagination. I had a hard time rating this store, because the contents were absolutely adorable, and speaks for itself. If you have ever been here, you obviously know that the mark up is pretty severe. That being said, you can find almost anything for that special little someone, ranging from glittery baby onesies to toddler sized Phillies' gear, it's wonderfully laid out and easy to navigate! Unfortunately, the staff is as pretentious as it gets! I walked through the door without either one of the sales girls, as much as look in my direction, much less give me the 'retail smile' and an insincere "How are you today, please let us know if you need any help" Hello, I'm pregnant! There is a strong chance that I might need help bending down to get to some of the cubby holes or reach something on a high self! But don't inconvenience yourself from your facebook apps, I'll figure it out on my own! Not really the atmosphere for a children's boutique one would expect! None of that warm and fuzzy stuff happening in here. I would shop here, but the customer service alone is simply horrendous and I would not on principal, spend any money at this place. It's a shame because a little friendliness in this day and age, truly goes a long way! On the flip side, they are not pressuring you into a sale...just a cool icy chill ripple through the store. This place is a joke. I'm not even talking about the ridiculous pricing - and don't get me wrong, we shop at boutiques for our son all the time. The things at this store are crap quality and the owner is absolutely insane and follows you around the store, takes your drinks away and apparently buzzes people in sometimes so he can lock the door. This is the opposite feel of what a baby store should have. Earlier in the day we went to an art gallery - drink in hand - and found several wonderful pieces. Hailing from Manhattan I can say the level of pretentiousness is unmatched - and that's a tall order for a NYer. Ironically we come to Philly for the opposite experience of what we had here. Never again, and I hope I save you some time by not having to go there. If you do wander out or have already been - I hope you don't give on baby boutiques - they can be a wonderful experience - just not this joke of a shop. Super cute but WAY expensive. That adorable diaper bag in the window? $168. Of course, they explain that it's "Petunia Pickle Bottoms" so apparently it's worth the money? I have no idea. Fortunately, they were having a pretty great sale and my shopping companion had a gift certificate. 75% off the clothing prices brought a cute French-made skirt/shirt combo down to a reasonable $35. Yes, you read that right. Originally $138. Granted, the skirt is so cute if it came in a 6 adult instead of a 6T I would probably buy one for myself. But $138 for a skirt/shirt combo that a five year old will probably wear for a single season? Oy. They also have the typical high end stuff -- Joe's Jeans for kids, cashmere socks, etc. The clothes are pricey but the potentially useful/handy toys and supersoft stuffed animals, including stuff from the Jellycat collection (so so so soft and possibly the cutest things ever) are priced at normal retail, so even if you can't get in on a sale day, you might still find something worth purchasing... read more

I'm a regular customer of Born Yesterday. The staff knows my children's names and always greet us with a smile. I don't know what previous yelpers are saying when they say that you have to buzz in because we have never experienced this. Maybe that's how it was a long time ago but it's not that way now. The staff has always been super helpful when we needed them, but they certainly have never been annoying and they never followed us around insistently. The store is pricey, and the mark-up is big, but it's right across from Rittenhouse Park so I guess that's to be expected. I've seen some reviews complain about customer service and price. I just want to say I came in here one morning and was greeted by three different women, all very nice and welcoming. I actually had to get the OK from my girlfriend to spend $50 on a stuffed animal and she didn't answer the phone so I said I'd be back later. I mean if they're so terrible wouldn't that be a prime opportunity to scoff at me for leaving after standing next to this damn rainbow bird for 5 minutes on my phone like a weirdo? No they were nice and said goodbye and we're all smiles. Then guess what I came back and bought that bird. Yeah $50 is a lot but this is rittenhouse square and they have some really unique stuff. This store has lots of beautiful gifts for newborns. Their selection of hand knit sweaters and booties is perfect for any "first baby gift." They have a great selection of diaper bags and baby tutus. I received a pair of pants for my son from this store. Knowing how inundated I was with newborn things, my friend bought them in a size 6 months. When my son was the right length (a whooping two months later), the waist was too snug. Unfortunately, this store has an inflexible return policy. So now I am just stuck with a pair of pants that never fit, tags in place! Baby clothes need to have a flexible return policy-you just never know when your baby is going to hit one size or when. I'm no expert in the baby/children area, so I didn't know what to buy a friend who had a baby girl recently....nor do I ever know what to get for friends' babies/kids on their birthdays. (Hey I'm the fun "Aunt" Mickey...or so I'd like to think !) I stumbled upon this place while out on a stroll near Rittenhouse Square park. It's filled with children clothes, accessories, and toys. Wow. Overwhelming...lots of cute stuff, but overwhelming...at least for me. The majority of the stuff is pricy, and I kept thinking "I'm sure they (my friends) have this and that covered." The clothes racks and tables are situated to allow for 1 person to look through items hanging, etc. I was trying to be careful walking around in fear of knocking something over. I found an adorable baby towel/robe with rubber ducky set, which I thought was reasonable in price. The woman at the register asked if it was a gift, and I said yes. She immediately went to work on getting the present wrapped in tissue, placed in a box, and then tied a nice purple bow around it. It was a very nice gesture, and I didn't have the heart to say I didn't need it wrapped since I have to pack it all in a suitcase when I leave Philadelphia. Thanks anyway! read more

I come to Philadelphia to see a few friends every year who live in the area and have small children. As an "auntie" I can't come in empty handed! For the 5 and under group, there is always something cute, fun, educational, whimsical, and/or charming for any of their kiddos. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the gifts are high quality. It's pricey, hence the 4 stars, but that is likely the nature of the area and the fact that it's easy to mark up things like children's items because folks will still buy them even if they're likely to get used twice haha! read more

A decent selection for a small store. Clean store and friendly staff. You get what you pay for. The clothes are good quality so stop complaining about the prices. Don't like the prices shop and Target and compare the quality. However, I must admit this store is perfect for those making $150,000 a year or more. If you are making less than that don't shop here. Fortunately, I'm making twice that amount so shopping here and at similar stores in the area isn't a problem. I was taken by a nice window display and decided to check out what was available for my new Goddaughter. The salesperson was attentive and polite, but once the sale was made, i got the cold shoulder as they rung me up and wrapped the gift. The 2nd sales person who was completing the purchase paid such little attention to me, she repeatedly asked me the same questions (gift receipt, etc). I was very excited to buy something for my trip to visit my family and new G*ddaughter or else I would have said forget it. It was as if once the sale was a sure thing, the charm stopped at the flick of a switch. THey didn't want to interact or even pay attention to me once they had my credit card! I like this place, they have cute items but are extremely pricy. The one thing that is extremely annoying to me is the pushy attitude of the staff. I'm not sure if they're all this way though because I was only there once. The one girl with long black hair and tons of makeup kept bringing baby outfits over to me when I was looking for something specific and suggesting I buy them. After the fourth of fifth time I let her know I was looking for something specific and I wanted to search on my own and would let her know if I needed her help. She would not back off!! I like this store for a few different reasons. I don't have kids and know nothing about them. I do have a lot of baby showers that I refuse to attend but always send a few gifts and this store because my Mom friends always give me such positive feedback. The sales associates always take me around the store and show me age appropriate gifts (like stuff a baby would like, 1 year old, 2 year old etc). I would recommend Sheila. She knows her stuff and is very helpful. I usually give her a price point and she can usually find a lot of unique items that are within budget. I've gotten everything from a Bruce Springsteen t shirt for a 1 year old to a chewy thing for teethers in the shape of a piece of bacon. I even got a bib with bacon and eggs in it (it's for a 1 year old) and another one with jewels in it for my friend's princess baby. If you want something unique and different, I would highly recommend this store. I'm surprised there are any low reivews on here because I always have a stellar experience here and I don't fork out a million dollars. I love their decorative window displays and when you walk in, the store is much bigger than expected. They have an amazing selection of quality clothes and toys. They also have a lot of unique items that you may not find anywhere else and this makes for some great gift-giving.They're always changing and updating their stuff so I always find new things to buy. The sales staff is very welcoming and friendly. I never know what to buy because there too many cute items and I don't have any children yet. The staff are always quick to ask the right questions and help me find the perfect item(s) that fit my budget without any pressure.
