I have been here a few times . Older women store owner problems. I am not someone that uses my race as an issue but this store is often that only time where my skin color seems to be something idk might just be me. I have watched her help other customers and I mean, help not be overbearing and feel like I'm constantly being watched. I have neve come out of the store without spending less than $700 I have 5 nieces and nephews all ranging from 6mos -7y.o. She follows me the whole time or has stood behind the counter staring at me. I politely say I like to browse on my own. I have watched me entering the store and her zooming down the steps and standing close to me. I only come here cause I do enjoy their stuff and the other staff are nice . it's expensive but I hate feeling like I'm being looked at constantly. read more

I just found out I am going to be a grandma. I went into the store to just look around, and told the older woman this (owner). I tried to make pleasant conversation with her but she was very rude. And weird! I work in retail. I know how to talk to people. This was not normal. Is there something wrong with her? I live on Rittenhouse Square, and I will be buying a lot for this new baby! The woman (who I assumed was the owner w shoulder length hair, glasses around 75) bc of the way she behaved is a judgmental freak. Black sisters, it's not just you. I'm white and the first thing she did was asked me where I lived, then she looked me up and down. That was just insane. She obviously only wants to work with her "own kind". She was bending over backwards for a grandmother who mentioned that she summers in Margate, while she sniffed at me. I just had to laugh, reminded me of that scene with Julia Roberts in Pretty Women. I went around the corner and dropped 3K for our granddaughters arrival and layette for next month at Born Yesterday where the young women who waited on me were killer cool & killer nice. We had store credit here from a gift that was returned and decided to buy something for our friends' new baby. Upon entering the store, we were immediately approached by presumably the owner of the store. I realize she was trying to be helpful, but she started pushing different items on us and steering us in different directions in the store. We just wanted to browse on our own, but we felt like she wouldn't leave us alone. Suggestions are fine, but this just felt more overwhelming than that. We also observed her being very rude to a few other customers that came in her store. The items are completely overpriced, even for Rittenhouse. They sell animal pillows that we've bought before on Amazon for almost twice the price. Rompers for newborns are 100 dollars or more. We had the store credit so we needed to spend it anyway, but it pained us to spend so much for so little. The woman at the register couldn't have been more pleasant and rung us up with no problem. She also beautifully wrapped the gift for us. When the owner came over to look at the receipt while we were waiting for the wrapping to finish, she stared at it and then questioned if it was correct (since we had only paid a fraction of what we bought after the store credit). When she was told we had store credit, she looked very angry and did not address us further, thank us, or say goodbye. We literally felt like we did something wrong. No customer should feel that way in a store. How do you expect to generate returning customers if that is how you treat people who walk through your doors? Won't be back. read more

Being a parent is expensive, although visiting the Children's Boutique made it painfully obvious that I can always spend more. While I acknowledge many of the yelpers comments on the overall cost of this store, I will say that the service and care in selecting each outfit and stuffy is quite excellent and designed to catch the eyes of any adoring child or unfortunate parent. The prices are really, really high, and I was tasked with the purpose of picking up an adorable set piece from the display window for my daughter's Christmas gift. Needless to say, everyone loved the dress, and if you have the money to splurge on your little one, this is the shop to go to. read more

I have shopped here multiple times with my mother. Both of us white and have had zero issues. The owner had always been nice and inviting. However yesterday when myself and my African American husband entered we were welcomed with flat affect, short questions, and were not offered any assistance. The salesperson who first approached us and who mainly helped us was terrible (older, long brown hair); I'd give her negative stars if I could. My son, a gender-non-conforming six-year-old, was looking for a new shirt to wear for Christmas, and he informed her that he likes to wear clothes with sequins or glitter on them. She ignored this and insisted on showing him a bunch of traditionally masculine shirts with footballs, dragons, etc. He kept telling her "no thank you, I'd like something sparkly" and she insisted that they didn't have anything sparkly for boys. I took him to the "girls" section myself, where he found a couple of shirts that he ended up liking, one of which we bought. Children should not be shamed for the things they like. Her behavior participated in a culture that tells children that there is something wrong with them if they do not perform traditional gender roles. My son does not need to be subjected to that message just to buy a shirt. Does this woman know that the depression and suicide rate for queer, trans, and gendernonconforming children is five times the national average? She should be ashamed of herself, and the boutique should not have such a person in contact with children. I will add that there were a couple of younger salespersons who were friendly and lovely to myself and my family, and the store does have very nice things. I would certainly return if I knew that my son would not have to encounter the cruel older woman again. read more

I would give them 6 stars if I could! I bring my daughter to music class there 5 days a week at 10:30am, she absolutely loves it, it is the highlight of her day. Overpriced. Went in for something for my daughter to wear to a wedding. Very limited selection of overpriced baby clothes. $65 for a one piece romper? I gave two stars because the clothes is cute. The absolute rudest, most offensive customer service ever. In preparation for a family photo shoot, I showed the saleswoman a photo on my phone of the dress I planned to wear. While she was showing a pair of slacks and shirt to me, she said, "You are not taking photos of my tags are you, because I don't like that." I was completely stunned by the implication and rudeness of her question. Note: I had purchased a full price shirt two weeks prior and she had been brusque and curt then as well. Wasn't planning on coming in here, but the beautiful window visuals entranced me inside. Was immediately greeted and assisted to the items displayed in the window. (purse for a small child). I was provided many options. When the associate saw that I was looking at items with mermaids, she also provided other recommendations. The associate at the cash wrap was just as kind and warm in her interactions! She offered to gift wrap the gift I was not expecting to buy, and I left smiling with a beautiful gift for my niece. I just saw on the news that you have re-opened. I haven't shopped in your boutique in years, however, you were my favorite children's clothing store when my daughter was a child( she now is 34.) she actually studied fashion design at Drexel and for her senior fashion show did a full line of children's clothing. You were always on top of the game having the most fashionable children's clothing. She always loved coming into your shop. She has no problems ignoring you , and talking down to you right in front of your children. I was warned by a friend but made the mistake of stopping by. Linda, the owner, picks impeccable clothing for children from infancy to elementary age. We have been shopping there since before our daughter was born and love the one on one attention from all the staff. If there's not a size they always manage to get it for us. Since we moved from Philadelphia we continue to buy through them. I like having a personal shopper for my daughter and I trust the staff. They know our daughter's fashion style and send us a text or call letting us know what the latest is- living in SC there are not many boutiques for kids so it's so wonderful to have personal service from this fabulous boutique - and every time we visit we always stop by to shop and visit with Linda. Difficult to find - entrance is on street, not through the mall entrance. Service was attentive and knowledgeable and when I was in a rush and ignorant of age appropriate gifts, multiple associates gave me great suggestions and I walked out with a couple gifts that were HUGE hits. Went in there to browse for items for my 7 year old and 10 month old. I was looking for matching dresses and shoes. The woman behind the counter, a brunette, asked me was there anything I needed in her store. I told her, I was just browsing. She then made a comment about me using my cell phone in the store, and how I shouldn't be on my phone when I am browsing. I was flabbergasted. Never have I been so insulted. There were no signs posted saying I could not use my cell phone, I was not loud, disrespectful, nor was I disruptive. I promptly walked out and will be filing a complaint about this company. I could only imagine, that this was a discriminatory action because I am African American and had a backpack on in the store. I am not sure if she assumed I would confiscate items, due to my race or what, but it was a brazen and racially charged act, that I will never walk in this store again. read more
