Throughout my first trimester boro park was wonderful. They were very easy to schedule with and have a great patient portal where you can see all your test results. The doctors were kind and friendly and addressed my concerns. I saw two male doctors and they were both very relaxed and nice, and had a great Jewish sense of humor. The only reason I am switching is that I decided I want to give birth at a birthing center and they don't support that. I also upgraded health insurance from Medicaid just now so was recently able to make this switch. If I were giving a hospital birth I would stay with them and I would recommend them to a friend, especially someone who had Medicaid. I will note though that upon seeing my new doctor at mount Sinai I was diagnosed with hashimotos thyroid disorder. This was apparent from test results I got from this doctor, yet they said absolutely nothing and probably would have never diagnosed me. Thyroid issues are widely underdiagnosed in pregnant women and can cause horrible problems if not checked. I strongly suggest you demand specific thyroid screening. read more

Awful. I am simply appalled by the way they manage the office. The manager's name is Anna Marie; she and the women who work there are extremely unprofessional and so extremely rude I was shocked. I've never had such a bad experience with a doctor's office. From what I can gauge from other patients' stories, the doctors/midwives aren't very kind either. I can't imagine going to this office for the rest of my care and seeing these people who are so careless with everything from scheduling, answering and directing phone calls, ultrasounds, and patient care in general. If you are pregnant and have a medical emergency they literally will put you on hold and hang up on you. Can you believe??! They have such attitudes when you call them that you wonder what is going on at the office. When I originally called to schedule an appointment, the lady who answered was so rude that it made me feel sick. She told me that the office is always going to be very busy so if I have a problem with them not answering the phones there, then I can go somewhere else, she then hung up the phone. I had to call back and sternly insist to speak to the manager. They hung up. I called back. Finally they screamed into the phone that they were looking for the manager. Nasty manager, nasty office, not what a new mother should have to put up with. I'm not sure why they run the office with such hateful attitudes. Please, women wanting to have a beautiful pregnancy experience with/for their families, go somewhere else, spare the chaos of this hellhole. read more

This may be the worst doctor's office I have ever been to. After my exam I needed a follow up call with the doctor who after trying to contact many times, never called me back to answer my questions. Months later I found out I had a hefty bill waiting for me at collections I was not made aware of because the office did not properly record my address listed on the form. After calling numerous times between the insurance company, lab, and office I was told the office needs to make the corrections on my medical record for my visit to be covered by insurance as they are the ones who made the mistake. After 4 calls to the office leaving voicemails and unable to reach employees for over a week, I got a call from the billing manager who led me down a wild goose hunt for more information they said they needed directly from the doctors office. I have now called the office every day leaving messages hoping for a return call and there has been to answer or response, therefore I am left with a hefty bill that was sent to collections because the office is ignoring me and refusing to fix their mistakes. Safe yourself the time and money and find a responsible practice. read more

Ugh. This place is revolting. It is absolutely filthy. You have to go into the dirty bathroom to give a urine sample, and then open a small door in the wall and put your sample inside. That little cubbyhole contains like 5 other peoples' samples just sitting there too. They diagnosed me with a UTI, which I had zero symptoms of, as well as HPV, which I have never shown in my life before and I was just tested a couple months before at a different place (have not had sex with anyone new since). I believe the samples were contaminated. The doctor also informed me of these diagnoses with the door open, in earshot of other patients. I got an IUD placed, and it took the doctor 4 different tries to get it in, which was extremely painful- this is my third one and I never had such issues before. And to top it all off, I just got a notice in the mail of a claim they put in for "chronic vaginitis", which I do not and have not ever had. So I have to pay over $350 for that claim, which my insurance won't pay, or have it disputed. They also are not transparent about which tests they run, and they only posted results in their patient portal after I called to complain. The staff overall was nice enough, but otherwise this place is sketchy as hell, not recommended. read more

I used to go to the Boro Park location, but I moved so now I have to go to the Williamsburg location. I will probably be changing doctors very soon. Angela at the front desk is a NIGHTMARE. She is so rude and abrasive. She puts me on hold all the time mid conversation as a punishment for being frustrated with the conversation. Literally every time I call to schedule an appointment I end up in tears because of how difficult she makes it and how she makes me feel like I'm stupid and doing everything wrong. Now I usually see Dr. Alter, but she is only in the office once a week and it is impossible to make an appointment with. Even when I do manage to get one with her, I wait in the room for 30+ minutes and she only sees me for 5 minutes and asks minimal questions. It's clear she does not want to be there and she thinks seeing me is a waste of her time. I am sick of having so much anxiety about going to the doctor. This is not a helpful or understanding place. Do not go here. read more

It's amazing the level of incompetence there is amongst front desk staff in doctor's offices. The woman I interacted with was hardly capable of booking and confirming an appointment, there is NOT A CHANCE that I would trust her with prescriptions, refills, or handling insurance. Hello, I would like to share my experience which was a horrible one. I did not like my prenatal care throughout my pregnancy. The midwives and Doctor's were very disconnected, I feel if I'm coming to every month for 9 months we should be able to build a patient/doctor relationship. I would never follow up with them again nor do I recommend anyone go there. Let's fast forward to the day I had my child. I was home and started to experience contractions which were coming really strong and fast 3-4 minutes apart to be exact. I rushed to Maimonides Hospital and when the doctor came in to greet me she was very disconnected and made me feel like I was just being dramatic. I was in a lot of pain and my contractions were coming so close together. She checked me and told me that I was 0.5 centimeters dilated and I should go home. I told her the contractions are really strong and coming so close. I felt as though I should have been monitored a bit longer to ensure that labor does not progress but the midwife told me to go home and take 2 Tylenol and drink lots of water. I did not understand why she would tell me to take Tylenol for labor pains. On my way home I am screaming in pain get home and the contractions start coming every 2-4 minutes so I call the midwife and tell her I am in excruciating pain and my contractions are coming closer together and I feel the urge to push and her response to me was "this is apart of child birth, just go take a warm bath". I am in tears at this point and confused as to what I should do this is my first child and my doctor is instructing me to stay home and deal with it alone. My pain became so bad that my parents called an ambulance to take me to another hospital. When the ambulance arrived I was on my bed bleeding and had fully dilated 10 centimeters. I was crowning. As soon as I reach the other hospital I immediately went into labor but of course because of the lack of care my baby was in distress. However, through the grace of God I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, there were a few complications as a result of the lack of care I received during labor but we are both doing well now. The staff at Boro-park or Maimonides did not call to check on me and my son is already a month old. As a doctor who you have been following up with for 9 months I would have thought that maybe a phone call to her patient to check that everything went well and that myself and child are ok would have been nice. It was a dreadful experience. If she kept me for 20 minutes more to monitor my contractions none of this would have happened. The doctors at the hospital were stunned by the lack of care I received and felt that because my contractions were so close I should have been monitored for much longer. It is a experience I will never forget. I strongly urge you to not follow up with any of there clinics because you would not want to end up like me. Best of luck to anyone who reads this. The women at the front desk are the rudest women I have ever met. I am a 20 year old and when I first went, I didn't know I was pregnant. The woman told me I needed to have a full bladder to get my second ultrasound and I misunderstood what she meant, and I said I can go pee right now. She rolled her eyes at me and explained again and she didn't hand me back my ID and insurance card, she slammed it onto the counter. The woman who did my ultrasound was horrible, she didn't speak to me the whole time and I asked her, "is my baby facing down" and she just said "nope" with no further explanation. I said "so which way is it facing?" And with an attitude she said, "what do you even mean?" And I just said never mind you're being very rude. She told me she wasn't and that I was being rude. I started crying and she continued to argue with me, even after I said I was done speaking to her. The doctors are nice but the front desk women and ultrasound technicians are horrible. I shouldn't have to cry every time I go to the doctor to see how my baby is doing. read more

Not sure why they don't have a 5 star? I love the women who work there. They are all sweet and very supportive. It's very women friendly no men. There's midwifes who explain every detail to you, they take their time they make sure that you fully understand your options they are all wonderful women. They do an amazing job I've seen various midwives in this office and none of them have ever given me any type of bad vibes or have never been rude or rush me or seem like they're just too busy to answer my questions. The nurses there are the sweetest women, they are never angry, they don't seem like they're stressed out and take their frustrations out on you. I would highly recommend this office if you want to have a beautiful relationship with your doctor's these women are actually here for you and are here to support you no matter what. You're not just business for them you're a person. read more

I've enjoyed working with the midwives at this practice throughout my pregnancy -- they are compassionate and caring, and if they were my only criteria for rating, I'd offer a higher score. However, the billing department of this practice is absolutely impossible to communicate with. If you have any questions or need clarification on charges, they take weeks to get back to you, whether you decide to reach out via phone or email. If there is a discrepancy that needs to be adjusted or fixed, you may never receive an answer and may wind up liable for a scary bill. read more

NASTY NASTY NASTY...No customer service skills at all. I called to find out how to get a refill for Depo-Provera since no refills were given at the first administration. Fist off, someone picked up the phone and as I was speaking the person started speaking to someone else and then told me to hold on mid sentence. 7 minutes later they return and before I could finish my sentence I was told with an attitude "ITS 3 MONTHS, YOU NEED TO GET THE SHOT EVERY 3 MONTHS". This was NOT my question. By this time I was a little annoyed and told her not to speak to me like that and was told she didn't speak to me in any manner. I replied that maybe it was hectic there and she was under pressure because she sure sounded annoyed and felt like I was bothering her BUT instead of apologizing and taking the out for her unprofessional behavior she said " NO IT IS NOT HECTIC HERE AND I AM NOT UNDER PRESSURE" still with that lovely attitude. I asked if she could just tell me how I can get a refill with a *SIGH* did I need to come in for the prescription and then again to receive the shot? Could the prescription be called in? Did a Doctor need to be seen? Either she didn't know or didn't want to tell me because I was put on hold again and disconnected 6 minutes later. Dr. Perlman and staff other than the reception area was wonderful and if it wasn't for them I would never return to this place. I still do not know how to proceed. Hopefully someone in management becomes aware of this behavior by monitoring phone calls or reading this because it is unacceptable. read more
