This clinic is an absolute lifesaver!! I've been to 6 separate physical therapy practices since I started developing symptoms of EDS in 2017. Liz (Elzbieta) is incredible. She listened to my needs and took everything I said seriously. She was instrumental in finally getting my diagnosis because she noticed a specific issue that previous therapists had missed. It's nearly impossible to find therapists this knowledgeable and experienced who also take the time to understand their patient's body and tailor the session to fit individual needs. The folks at 1st Class PT have greatly increased my quality of life. I'm in far less pain, get much better sleep, and am doing better in a myriad of ways. I've worked with Amid a few times too, and he's also amazing. He's deeply invested in his patients' wellbeing, and I always notice how delighted they are to see him. Seanette at the front desk is a godsend. She goes above and beyond -- whether it's dealing with my insurance or my PCP's office to confirm they sent that referral. The staff is very friendly, treat me well, accommodate my needs, and make physical therapy feel less like a chore. I don't know where I'd be without them! ‍ The staff here are LGBT+ friendly and IMO competent with trans bodies. read more

This place is a sham operation. Front desk insisted to charge me a deductible (not a co-pay; i don't have a co-pay with my insurance policy) before they even filed a claim with my insurance. They claimed they double checked that the amount charged with my insurer and it is standard policy to charge the deductible before treatment. deductible not co-pay. Well as expected, I was overcharged and have been spending the last 3 months chasing for my money back. They never ever get back to me and every time I call to follow up they will say they are checking with the manager. I'm not sure why it takes so long to issue a refund. STAY AWAY. read more

MY BEST EXPERIENCE AT PHYSICAL THERAPY! This was my 3rd time doing pt, my 2nd time for the same issue -- an old ankle injury sustained when I was in my early 20s, too depressed to take the injury seriously and too traumatized to speak honestly with doctors about how much pain I was really in. 10 YEARS OF EXCRUCIATING PAIN and believing I deserved to suffer and I let it ruin my quality of life. I decided to roll again, just one more time. And I won the jackpot! I've been with 1st Class since February. I literally wanted to cry when I began to notice that I could walk most days without limping, that I could wake up in the morning and not be in pain. I can feel and see the difference in my ankle. (I cannot say the same about the first time I did pt with a totally different place -- not naming names! But that office was depressing and I left that place in more pain tbh.) My ankle isn't at 100% because my insurance won't continue paying for the appointments I *need*, so I had my last one the other day. But I am hopeful about my ankle for once! This place is a joke. I called to schedule an appointment for two body parts (knee and shoulder, post motorcycle injury), prior to calling I contacted my insurance to double check my coverage. Right off the bat, the gentleman taking down my appointment tried to convince me the insurance would not pay for this and I need to choose one body part or the other. After another 10 minutes of back and forth I was told someone from their billing department would contact me. I called my insurance back to check my coverage again - no limit of body parts or how I want to use my sessions. The billing department calls and gives me the same speech how most insurance companies would not cover this. Again, I try to explain that most insurance companies might not but MINE does. I had to ask her over and over again to simply contact my insurance company to verify. 3 days goes by, she calls back and it's like we never spoke before, we are back at square one - "most insurance companies will not cover this". Is this a joke I'm thinking... What do I need to do to get this place to stop assuming and simply verify with insurance company?! Now, I called my insurance the third time to freaking triple check - yup, all covered and no limit. Now here is what I learned (at least with my insurance policy) - insurance companies count each PT session as a per DAY occurrence meaning you can have 5 PT sessions in one day and it will be counted as one session - you will pay ONE co-pay and the practice can only bill for ONE session. THIS IS WHY THEY DON'T WANT TO BOOK SEVERAL BODY PARTS/SESSIONS AT ONCE! Now, as far as the actual place goes - WOW and wow in a horrendous way! They first scheduled my appointment for 6:00pm (the latest I could get so I didn't have to leave work early), the next day they call back to tell me the 6:00 slot is not available, extremely annoying - I now have to go in to work an hour earlier to be able to make the earlier appointment. When I get in, it's a total chaos, one guy at the front desk scrambling while 3 or 4 patients on their own doing their thing (one of them is so bored he's got a dumbbell in one hand and texting with the other). Where are the therapists? I'm checking in with the front desk when one of the patients comes up and asks the front desk guy what's the next exercise. Wait, the front desk attendant IS the therapist?! And THE ONLY therapist?? Yup, the guy is split between 4 people and covering the front desk. I'm sitting there thinking maybe I'm still missing something... 25 minutes goes by, I'm still waiting and observing the circus. The best part is at the top of the form they have you fill out, it says "first session $200, all sessions after $160" so this place bills those 4 people $200/each and employ one therapist to service them all plus cover the front desk - like I said WOW I just walked out read more

I highly recommend this place mainly because of Elisabeta .She did an incredible job of treating my back. She was very knowledgeable, and took the time to carefully explain the mechanics of my injury, describe exactly what each exercise was targeted to achieve, and patiently answer my many questions. She was always motivating and upbeat, and I really appreciated her enthusiasm, honesty, professionalism and positive attitude. With Elisabeta, I made rapid progress both physically and mentally in terms of how I managed my back pain. I have now recovered my full range of motion and am able to return to my normal activities. More importantly, thanks to Elisabeta I have the knowledge and tools I need to keep strengthening my back for the rest of my life. The administrative staff are also really helpful, friendly and competent. In short this is the best overall experience I've had with physical therapy to date. I gave 3 stars because the place needs some major improvements ! The machines are super old and they use Gold Gym balls for God sake how much does one ball cost ?!?! If it wasn't for Elisabeta and the location I would never go back ! They can do better if they change the equipment ! read more

A really bad experience with physical therapy there. The knowledge of the PT (Vijeta) was extremely weak until the point that she didn't read well a X Ray picture. Furthermore, she showed in several appointments a continuous lack of interest and rude attitude that indicated a clear unprofessional behavior. She contradicted the information of the doctor (surgeon) and she never listened to patient's comment to improve the injury with more precision and in an accurate way. Better not talk about the facility. I was with other PT after that one. There is no possible comparison in terms of quality. read more

I sprained my ankle running, a re-injury of a much worse sprain from a bad fall about 15 years ago. Back then I went to physical therapy for about 4 months, but the place was on the upper West side and hard for me to get to with the bad ankle. I live in Greenpoint, and I wasn't willing to commute that far for physical therapy this time around; I was determined to find somewhere closer to my house. I decided to try this place, since I had walked by there many times and was curious about it. Boy, am I glad I did. Dr. Elzbieta Karwowska (mentioned, I think, in another positive review below, by Zee B., but with a slightly off spelling of her name) was superb. She is very knowledge, friendly, and enthusiastic. She's a real professional, and I feel lucky to have found her. She took endless pains with me and my bad ankle; she was careful to explain what exactly I had done to myself, how it all worked, how the exercises would help, and how long it would take me to improve. We discussed what shoes I should be wearing in the meantime, how I can get back to running and prevent further injuries, and how my insurance would (and wouldn't) pay for it all. I feel such relief to be in good hands. I'm even, weirdly, looking forward to my next appointment! The other staff there were also friendly, sweet, pleasant to deal with. This is the best physical therapy experience I have ever had. read more

I have to say I went for a while for physical therapy. I had the Indian woman (I think her name was "Krutiben") and she was pretty terrible. She shows such a lack of interest in you and you feel like you're bothering her when she's barely touching you to massage you. She just basically puts a heat pad on you and merely massages you for about 3 minutes. She seems so inexperienced, I really hope they replace her soon. She shouldn't be in this practice. read more

I went to see the dermatologist here on a friend's recommendation. Her dermatologist was unavailable for a few weeks so I made an appointment with a different doctor (Dr. Azsar). I had a 7pm appointment and I was running a little late, so I paid to take a car there...and then was really angry that I had. After I checked in and filled out the new patient paperwork I had to pay my copay immediately (not a big deal). By 7:30 they still hadn't seen me, so I went to the desk to ask if I would be seen soon. I was told that they had had some earlier back-ups and was assured that as soon as the doctor was available I'd be seen. 25 minutes later I preparing to go up to the desk and ask for my copay back and walk out when they finally called me. The actual doctor's visit was fine, although I felt that she was feeling rushed due to the back-up outside in the waiting room. I was really unhappy with the whole experience, however, and will definitely not return. read more

I would give this place 0 if I can but I need to rate it. I called in to see the chiropractor Keith Williams for a 10am appt on 7/8 and scheduled it over the phone. I get to the place and there were people sitting in there waiting to be seen and no receptionist up front. I see the receptionist strolling in at 10 am to open up and the place was like a sauna as soon as you walk in. I told the receptionsit I had a 10 am appointment and was told to wait for a little. Its 1030 and they completely forget im there and ask what I am here for so I explained I had an appointment for 10am. The receptionist calls Keith Willaims and apparently he is no where near the clinic nor did he know he had an appointment. I have to tell you I was quite furious and on top of that I was told to reschedule after I already took the day off! They really need to coordinate and communicate better than this and quite frankly its not very professional nor is the doctor to completely forget! Will not go back read more

This review is for the physical therapy services of Elizabeta. I know Yelp does this address incorrectly, because there are several different offices working out of here. First, I do agree with "Zee B." If it wasn't for Elizabeta, I would not be going here, given the facilities are old, cramped, and lacking in many other ways. That said, I have been to several other physical therapists for my knee. While some are good at first, you quickly find yourself working alone, as most PT places in NYC like to TRIPLE BOOK all of their PTs. That's right, they have them working on 3-5 people at the same time, so how exactly are they supposed to be helping you? Elizabeta does have some overlap with her patients, but she spends over half the time I'm there directly working with me and talking with me, about recovery, range of motion, different exercises, and my goals. Elizabeta has the experience you need as well. Try to find another PT in NYC that didn't just graduate from school. Try to find another PT in NYC that is actually a Dr. I've looked, and been disappointed. So, 4 stars for Elizabeta and her personal care, treatment and knowledge. 2-3 stars for the facility. It's really outdated and cramped. Please bear in mind that this review is for "First Class Physical Therapy" operating out of the "North 7th medical Group" offices. Also, to clarify the other reviews, there is no Indian woman named "Krutiben" at this facility. read more
