Bosphorus Turkish Cuisine is the best new restaurant in Rocklin! They recently opened and serve truly authentic Turkish food. As someone who is from Turkey and has traveled throughout the country many times, I can honestly say their food is outstanding. The Adana kebab and Beyti kebab are some of the best I've had outside of Turkey. The quality of the food, the warm hospitality, and the excellent service made me feel like I was dining back home. I've been to Istanbul several times, sailed on the Bosphorus once, and I found the food and experiences very enjoyable. And so when I read about a new, authentic Turkish restaurant opening in Rocklin, I looked forward to checking it out. And I can enthusiastically report that Bosphorus Turkish Cuisine is the real deal, that we are fortunate to welcome a new restaurant of such unique flavors and high quality, and my 5-star rating is an easy one. My wife and I arrived mid-afternoon on a Wednesday, and the Bosphorus was nearly empty. We were greeted at the door by Hicran, a member of the family that owns Bosphorus. She was pleasant, welcoming, and eager to tell us about the many homemade menu choices. She was soon joined by her brother, Hasan. It really did feel as though we were being welcomed as guests into someone's home. The room was pleasantly decorated, and the furniture was very comfortable. In fact, I often judge seating comfort in evaluating a dining experience, and the chairs here are among the most comfortable I have found. Well-padded, all with comfortable armrests, and all contributing to a great setting for a well-prepared meal. The menu begins with seven cold appetizers, including dips and stuffed grape leaves. We opted for the eighth choice, a platter featuring smaller portions of all seven cold appetizers. We were also presented with a basket of pita bread that included olives, feta cheese, and butter. Every single cold appetizer presented distinct, unique flavor profiles that transported us to a place we weren't normally accustomed to. The starters were very filling, and so we shared a main dish. The hunkar begendi was made from pureed eggplant, mozzarella, and garlic, and topped with perfectly sized, flavorful, and tender pieces of lamb. If you like lamb, this one is a must. So different, and so delicious. Hours later, we're still fondly remembering it. For dessert, we had kunefe, a delicious dish of phyllo-type dough, sweet cheese, crushed pistachios, homemade syrup, and ice cream. And yes, it was as terrific as it sounds. A great ending to a great meal. It's not everywhere you travel that you have the opportunity to dine at a terrific Turkish restaurant. Now we can do that right here in Placer County. This is Mediterranean cuisine at its best. While not inexpensive, we found it very fairly priced, especially considering the high quality and the generous portions. The service was very good, being attentive without being overbearing, welcoming, and prompt throughout our entire stay. The culinary experience kicked off on a high note with the complimentary table bread. We were served fresh, soft pita bread with olives, butter, and cheese. The bread itself was incredibly flavorful and pillowy, serving as the perfect vessel for the toppings. Every component of this starter, from the rich butter to the sharp cheese and briny olives, tasted remarkably fresh and high quality. For the main course, I ordered the Somon, a beautifully prepared salmon dish served in a luscious cream sauce with spinach. Out of the kitchen, the sauce needed just a tiny pinch of added salt to wake up the flavors fully, but once adjusted, the cream and spinach mixture was absolutely delicious, rich, and vibrant. The entree was rounded out by a side of perfectly cooked, fluffy rice and a crisp green side salad tossed in a very tasty house dressing. I concluded the evening with a classic plate of baklava for dessert. The pastry was undeniably fresh, though it erred a bit on the dry side, lacking the deep, honey-soaked moisture you look for in a top-tier version. However, the kitchen smartly paired it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and eating them together completely solved the dryness, creating a wonderful contrast of textures and temperatures. The bottom line is that the food and service here are already excellent. It is a fantastic addition to the local dining scene, and it might take a little time to see if they can maintain this consistency and earn a full five stars from me. We had dinner there this past Friday evening. The food was very authentic and we loved it. We started with the Patlican Salatasi for an appetizer and it was a flavor bomb. Just delicious. We then had the Karidesli Salata and the shrimp dusted with pistachio was excellent but the season and dressing of the salad was even better. Our main course was the Sarma Beyti Kebab - wow. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. We at it all! Lastly, we had the Kunefe, which was something we had never had. It was very, very nice and we recommend you try it. We have been to Turkey and had some experience with this type of food. We can't wait to go back and try some of their other items. The hummus and falafel were very tasty. For my main dish I ordered the Karidesli Salata, a salad with mango, tomatoes, and pistachio-crusted prawns. It was a perfect light summer meal. I forgot to take a picture until it was halfway gone. I brought some of it home with me and the next day it was still delicious. My grandpa is a very skeptical picky eater but he really enjoyed the Tavuk Sote. The ambiance is pleasant and relaxing. The woman who served us, who I believe is the owner, was very kind and helpful. My friend wanted to take me out for my birthday and she found this new restaurant. Our first experience with Turkish cuisine was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, the incredibly kind owner took the time to explain every dish and made us feel so welcome. You can truly tell that everything is homemade, and every bite reflected the care and passion that goes into the food. Each course was an experience that left us in awe, and we're still talking about it. The appetizer platter satisfies you plenty, both visually and in terms of flavor. As a hot appetizer, we ordered falafel, which was served with hummus; it was wonderful in both warmth and flavor. We had the chance to visit with a group of five friends, and before anything else, I want to thank the staff for being so welcoming and friendly throughout the evening. The Meze Mix Plate was so good that we actually joked about canceling our main dishes and ordering a meze plate each instead. The cevizli ezme was especially amazing. One bite and I felt like I was back in Türkiye. The İçli Köfte tasted homemade, just like something your mom would make. We visited last week with our family to celebrate Eid dinner. We were excited to try someplace new. It was absolutely delicious and our server was amazing. We tried a variety of dishes, my favorite being an appetizer called icli kofte. We also tried the hummus, and our mains included tavuk sis which was chicken skewers, the Adana kebab, the beyti kebab and the Karniyark- eggplant with ground beef! My husband and I were very excited when we learned that Bosphorus was opening up literally within walking distance from our home, so we marked our calendars for their Grand Opening May 15th. The hospitality, atmosphere and service were all top notch! The food was so fresh, beautifully presented and delicious! We tried the cold mezze sampler. Enjoyed each one :) Our entrees came with rice and salad; each flavorful with generous portions. Even though we both were full, we had to try their Baklava and Turkish Delight along with Turkish tea. I always want to try new restaurants and give them a chance so I went to this new place over the weekend with a friend. I always go to the other Turkish restaurant that we have in Roseville area for 18 years that I love so much and I want to compare both. I order Tavuk sis (chicken skewered) with rice and veggies and it was ok. I would prefer something with more seasoning. We order as well the humus and bread. For my taste I prefer more creamy texture. My friend ordered the falafel dish. She liked it. The owner was very friendly, the food was ok. I never been in Turkey so my only comparison is with the other place and for my taste their flavors here are a little plain. It was not bad but it was not amazing either. I tried and maybe I will come again and check more plates to keep comparing. Not sure. read more

I avoid eating oil (per Dr. Caldwell Esselstyne) so though I make exceptions when eating Turkish cuisine, it was a bit too oily for me. My mainly carnivorous son was quite happy with his Kuzu Shishkebob and the two of us who are vegan had a very tasty Patlican. Where do I begin? The 4 of us have been to Turkey and we all agreed we weren't sure if the food here was possibly better than what we had in Turkey. Bosphorus, is an unpretentious neighborhood gem. I would dare anyone to not rank this comparable or above against any of the best Turkish restaurants in San Francisco. It is a welcoming family run restaurant, terrific in every way! We loved the kind and helpful service, food presentations, and above all, the food itself. We enjoyed 2 Signature Entrees. The first was the Karmyark that was a heaping mix of stuffed eggplant, minced beef, tomatoes, onions, & herbs that was scrumptious beyond words. It was served with a wonderful rice pilaf and a generous salad. Our second treat was the Sarma Beyti Kebab that was sliced bite size pieces of lavash tightly stuffed with seasoned meat, baked and enveloped in a delicious tomato and yogurt sauce. Make sure not to miss the Falafel Salatasi with mixed greens in a delightful dressing. The falafel was so moist and cooked to perfection. We all agreed that those were the best we'd ever had anywhere! The time taking preparation for stuffing the falafel with goat's cheese was phenomenal. We did have 1 disappointment. We were sorry we'd ordered double & not more choices, but were too full to try more things! We all will be coming back. This is the real deal if you know Turkish food. read more
