That's really weird she never received my emails or the one from Yelp regarding my review when that's her preferred communication. Maybe I had the wrong email although it did not bounce back. I finally called her after being ignored, left her a voicemail. She called back when I was at my daughter's glasses appointment, my child answered the phone by mistake. I didn't mean to answer at that time as I truly couldn't express my feelings and tried to explain that to Nicole. Apparently she was away at some wedding and demanded I speak to her because of such. It was irrelevant to me so I hung up. I was in tears at the salon but not on the phone. I don't know what her niece's wedding has to do with anything weeks after my appointment. I'm not sure what was irrational. I didn't yell, swear or speak to either of them disrespectfully even when I was so triggered and disrespected. Literally tried to explain my point that is still missed! The price was not discussed BEFORE the service. I actually have receipts from not too long ago proving exactly what I said. To say Jaclyn is great is an understatement! Jaclyn is a miracle maker! I'm a natural blonde and a bad box hair dye disaster fried my hair and turned it into an awful (comically awful) grey! I went into this salon because of the great reviews on Yelp. I wanted to color my hair to enable my grey roots to grow out naturally. My normal hairdresser would not agree to this, because she thought it would be damaged. So i sought out a "color specialist" with more expertise. I made an appointment for a consultation and Nicole said she could do this and explained that she woud lighten the front of my hair leaving the back to grow out. Thus my roots in the front would not "show." I returned to her salon 3 times. At the end of all this, my hair is burned down to my scalp and is uneven due to the "chemical burn haircut" she administered. She offered to return a part of my payments to her but the damage is already done. Now I need to spend MORE money to buy a wig. read more

Nicole is awesome!!! I just had an incredible hair color experience! This is after years of having gone to so many different salons (and for that, the super famous ones!) in the Boston area, getting out disappointed with half-done dull highlights or balayage... Since I moved to Boston and that would be almost 6 years ago now, I have never had a good color experience. Or even a good haircut! I have thick, black hair and a lot of it, and they turn pretty much curly in summer and all straight in winter. 3 weeks ago I went to BCG and had a hair cut with these beautiful layers! I heard compliments about my haircut from colleagues that usually just pass by. And it was not even a big change. Just layers and they noticed! I love those layers! Today I went to get deep rose gold / aubergine highlights. I took the so many saved instagram photos with me together with all these detailed requests about my roots and the degrees of warmth and cold. She made this incredible beautiful shiny color out of it! So far, she is the only one who has been able to transform my hair through all these years and I really appreciate it! All this time and they never really knew how to work with my hair. How not to burn it. How to just get the right color and not damage my hair. I went in for a consultation with long hair that had been colored several times before (both highlights and single process), and Nicole was able to tell basically all my color history with a glance. I knew then I was in the hands of a true professional, and made an appointment to have a cut and full highlights. I gave Nicole a (somewhat vague) description of what I was thinking about and walked out (4 hours later!) with hair that was better than I could have ever imagined. I got a dark copper low light and rose gold highlight, as well as a great cut. As someone with fairly one dimensional dark black hair, over the past 4 years, Nicole has given my hair colors and dimensions I (and pretty much everyone else) did not know were possible. This is a fantastic salon and Nicole, who is the colorist and owner, is an amazing stylist. My hair was a mess and a weird shade of red-orange when I came to her, and I needed it to look nice for my wedding, and she made it look fabulous. She corrected the color to a lovely honey blond and gave me beautiful, blended highlights. Later on, when I wanted to go dark, Nicole did a great job with that too. My sister went to Nicole upon my advice for a haircut, because she has curly/wavy hair and has a hard time finding someone who can cut it well, and she wasn't disappointed either. Nicole cut her hair perfectly, and my sister was super-happy with the result. All in all, I fully recommend Nicole and the Boston Color Group and I think that you'd be hard pressed to find a better stylist. It had been about two years since I had gotten a haircut/color and I was nervous about having it done. Nicole was so warm and personable and took the time to understand exactly what I wanted in terms of length and color. She did an EXCEPTIONAL job! I loved my first haircut, except my daughter had to trim some long strands that had been left when my long hair was cut short. It was a little pricey, for being in and out of there in about 20 minutes, but I wanted something different, and Nicole gave it to me. So...I set up an appointment for highlights. Buyer beware. If she has to cancel, she notifies you by email. I don't know about you, but I cannot get personal email at work. Heck, I don't even have cell coverage in the building where I work. I have no problem with someone needing to cancel an appointment--it happens. I do have a problem with going through contortions to get out of work (turns out it was a crazy day in the office) so that I could get to her on time. I ran into a store to get enough change to load up the parking meter and then found she wasn't at the salon yet. The stylist in the salon said she thought she might not be coming in that day. I called her # and left a message--no call back until 20 minutes later after the stylist finished with her client and texted her. When Nicole called me, she told me that she had sent an email that morning. I was pretty frustrated, and she handed that same attitude right back at me. What I couldn't manage to spit out while she kept interrupting with "what do you want me to do," was that as frustrated as I was, the issue wasn't that she had to cancel, it was the fact that she relied on email to do it. I said we'd talk when we'd both calmed down. When I read her email later that night, it wasn't much consolation because in the email she asked me to let her know that I'd received it. Did she ever hear from me? No. Did she follow up? No. If she'd called and left a message, I would have heard it when I stepped out of the building and before driving 45 minutes to the appointment. Is it just me, or do other businesses rely on email for cancelling the same day as an appointment is scheduled for? I have never received a cancellation by email--the same day or otherwise. And, personally, I think that is an unprofessional way to run a business. I found a different salon, made an evening appointment for the following week (same price as Nicole quoted me), and I love my hair--the color and the cut. My appt. lasted a little over 2 hours with all the perks of a really nice salon. I am willing to shell out $$ and leave work early for the professional advice and personal pampering, but not when it comes laden with stress. This review relates mostly to customer service. Nicole is the best colorist and by my surprise she cuts absolutly awesome! I have been to many! She knows her business that is for sure. She is a great business women and a very down-to earth personality and is highly skilled. Nicole Cullinan is truly the best I have been to in the many decades of my life. She was able to use her training and expertise to correct four different colors and non-colors that were on my head. Others tried and only colored my light hair brown and added highlights. She removed all the many colors to be able to start fresh and give me the color I wanted, - light ash blonde. As I have both dark and white roots, she treated both colors differently. The end result was a head of hair that was totally light ash blonde with no other shades unnaturally present.
