Called a few days before my appointment and was happy to hear they had availability. Elizabeth was super friendly from the moment I arrived (even though it was a bit early). She washed my hair and then asked my haircut preferences - just pretty simple. She did a great job cutting and then blew my hair out just as I wanted. I must say, this was by far the best facial I've ever received in my life. Kelly, you are a talented angel!! I was so relaxed and my skin was positively glowing. The only thing that kept this from being a perfect 5-star review was that the treatment rooms were very close to the rather noisy salon itself, so every few minutes my tranquil experience was interrupted by a piercing laugh or someone hollering across the salon. Not sure if there's a practical solution to this, but it did detract from an otherwise amazing experience. Regardless, I'll for sure be back for Kelly to make my skin look perfect. read more

When I walked in, no one welcomed me. Instead the owner's family quickly launched into a loud, argument with their mother about family money issues making it extremely awkward for any customers, let alone a new client who didn't know where to go. The stylist critiqued my previous cut but gave me a fist full of business cards when she learned it was my first time there - offensive and confusing since no one was as quick to offer the new customer discount. I've never bothered to write a Yelp review but today's experience was particularly unpleasant. This was my third trip to Robert's. The service is mediocre here as everyone else has noted. Jenny and Christine do relatively good mani/pedis if you can get a Groupon or something. Not really worth full price. Naz is not so great. The real issue I have is with the owner's wife Elizabeth. I was sitting minding my own business when she started off on a noisy tirade about something political. Her opinions weren't what bothered me. The whole thing just made me horribly uncomfortable. She was basically yelling at the woman who's hair she was blowing out. It was so inappropriate. Ultimately, Elizabeth's proselytizing is why I wont return. read more

I've been going here for about a year since with a toddler and a newborn I can't seem to get more than a mile away. I've had my haircut by Elizabeth, the owner's wife, who is extremely pleasant but doesn't seem to listen to me to give me the cut I really want. I am certainly no expert about Robert's Salon, as I'm not a regular. I have, however been here on several occasions for mani/pedis. Most notably, I came here the day before my wedding with all of my bridesmaids for mani/pedis and a gel nail application. All in all I am happy with the work they have done. Jenny is the woman I've had a couple of times and she is fun and does a great job. Robert is great too, friendly and welcoming. All of my nail work has come out looking fabulous and lasts a long time. You certainly get what you pay for, and because the prices in here are more Newbury St. than downtown Belmont you certainly should get the most for your dollar! The salon is clean, pretty spacious, and is in such a cute location. Everytime I've gone there I've loved being able to pop over to Stone Hearth pizza for dinner or do a quick loop through the Macy's across the street. The thing that really irks me about this place is the reception. The woman who greets you at reception (can't think of her name) is awkward, not friendly, and just doesn't welcome you in at all. Really, not the best face for your business. She seems confused about things and this was most noted when I was trying to pay for myself and all of my bridesmaids mani/pedis prior to my wedding. An expense somewhere in the range of $500 (Oh, and I need to mention again this place is not cheap). She didn't know the price of a french pedi and miscalculated TWICE the amount I needed to charge - leading me to put three separate charges on my credit card. This is simple math, and I was not a happy camper. How complicated can this be? Apparently more than I thought. Robert's is a nice salon and they do nice work but I think it would really make a world of difference if reception was, well, just a little more receptive. read more

I get a professional mani/pedi exclusively for special occasions and I'm cheap, so when those two characteristics are combined with an awesome Groupon deal, I'm in Heaven. I had a mani/pedi special with Jenny, who did a fantastic job. My nails looked fabulous the day of, but the polish peeled off my nails the next day. I also had a bikini wax done with Nas. I had a haircut at Robert's before and it was decent, so I went back when I saw that they offered a Groupon. Unfortunately, this second experience was not at all like the first! I arrived at my appointment on time, waited a few minutes to check in, with no acknowledgement from the front desk. Then I waited. And waited. And waited some more!!... for 45 minutes before my stylist was ready. I was not alerted that she would be so long with another client, they did not apologize or offer an explanation, as if I didn't have other things to do on a saturday morning! I should have just walked out, it would have saved me arguably the worst haircut of my life! So, I finally sat down, and my stylist was friendly enough, her name was Jane. I thought she understood what I wanted when I said long layers, but my haircut ended up looking like a mullet...not quite what I was going for. It was also uneven in the front, which she corrected just fine. I didn't even want her to attempt a fix, who knows what might have happened! I left, and went home to make an appointment at a better salon to have my mullet fixed. So, lesson learned, don't go to Roberts! They have free bagels and coffee, but they don't care about your time, and they don't even do good work! 1 star is 1 star too many for this place! read more

Robert himself was not only knowledgeable about how the color and cut would come out, but up to date on the latest trends. He was professional, attentive, and kind. The salon uses LOCAL ORGANIC hair dye called "All-Nutrient" that still looks fabulous in my hair, almost a week and a few washes later. I have been going to Robert to get my hair done for the past 10 years, and wouldn't go anywhere else! Everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and its very easy to make an appointment. I always come away with cut and color exactly as I had hoped, and my hair feeling fresh and silky. The one time my hair color came out too dark, they made time to see me the following day and add some highlights at no additional charge. Thoroughly uninspired first visit to the salon. I do not recommend to new customers, go somewhere else with better customer service and attention to detail. I had a Groupon and booked my haircut and blow dry well in advance. I got to text reminders for my appointment time that I've replied to and confirmed. I showed up right on time and had to wait 30 minutes with no explanation or apology. When the stylist Maria finally met me she didn't ask anything about my haircut, she took me back to wash my hair and then walked away for a few minutes to take photos of another lady's updo leaving me Sitting alone in those uncomfortable hair wash chairs. She came back sprayed half my head with water and then walked away again. She got one of her coworkers to wash my hair for her, that lady was left-handed so I had to move sinks with my hair already partly wet. The haircut is acceptable but I've had better attention to detail and customer service at the mass haircut chains. After the haircut she starts blowdry my hair as included in the groupon and then walked away and the other lady came back to finish blow drying my hair. She whacked me with the roller brush a good 10 times which it's a brush so I'm OK but lots of scratching around my ears temples and neck just seemed sloppy and rushed. Poor service, limited attention to detail. Go somewhere else to spend your money, not even worth the Groupon cost. read more

I was in need of a color desperately on Saturday afternoon as I had delayed my normal coloring schedule and realized that I had an event to attend that evening. I agree with some other reviews that reception is a little akward, I prefer to make my appointments directly with Maria. Great find. painless. great shape. She left them thicker at first and followed my natural brow line.. "cuz you can't put them back once they've been taken off". I was in the mood for something a little thinner- to broaden my brow line. so- she both had her own solid skills AND listened to what I was going for. Thats a keeper. If you go here for nails always ask or book for Moon. She's wonderful, does a great job ect. Avoid Sylvania away all cost mainly because everytime I had her there were issues. I had my nails done with gel (lasts about 2 weeks) but mine only lasted 3 days. She didn't prepare my nails correctly and they peeled off like cheap paint. I have her another chance and asked about doing acrylics or extension nails, which she said the salon did. I made an appointment, moved my day around so I could go, I get there only to be told they never do acrylics or extension nails. Sylvania wasted my time and energy. I drive 45 min. to get my hair cut there and it is always worth the gas! They have a number of services to offer. Robert's wife did my and my bridesmaids hair at my wedding. Great salon with great services! Always having benefits to raise money for the troops! This is a big plus since I am also a veteran, and they are giving back to the community. I am glad I stepped foot in the door over 2 years ago at Robert's Salon & Spa. The minute I walk in the staff is friendly and courteous offering beverages while you wait and getting services done. The stylist are far from lacking creativity and always have new ideas to present. The owner Robert is friendly and walks around and speaks to customers making sure they are satisfied. I posted a picture above of my ombre' and my new cut because I cut 7 inches off. Amanda my stylist assure me I would love my new cut and color.
