Taryn King was our primary contact, and she was super helpful--even driving out to our current apartment in Cambridge to pick up a cashier's check from us (that the property management company required) and later returning to hand-deliver (again, to our apartment!) a copy of our lease (once the prop. management company checked out our credit etc. [a huge hassle, but not Boston Z's fault] and signed it). They charge the (I think standard) broker's fee (1 mo.), but provide above-average service and follow-through.

(Know that we gave them a very short time frame and this is my first time renting an apartment so I probably had some communication errors/mistakes on my end too) I would have liked to receive up to date listing searches every day. The market moves so so fast and in order to get a good place you really have to snag it while its fresh. We sent back our top selections from a list sent to us a day or two prior and we didn't get to see our favorite ones because they were already gone when it came time for viewings. It would have been nice to have had the updated searches, or to have been sent some newer good options in lieu of the ones that we had missed out on. We ended up renting with another agency. Me and my partner stayed diligent about vetting new apartments as they popped up on our apps, and while it was hard to let down Amber and Dillon after they took the time to take us out for viewings, we are happy and very fortunate that we did because we were able to get an amazing apartment that was fresh 16 hours on the market over the weekend. Long story short - These are very good, knowledgeable, and professional people doing very good work, but in this case it didn't work out. My best piece of advice for succeeding in this market is that if you want to get a really good place you have to check your apps every day and then be able to meet the agent on a whim mere hours after it has been posted.
