I was renting in Cambridge for about 4 years with Oxford St and it was by far the best experience I've had with property managers in my experience renting. They are the perfect size company (and I've had them all): small enough that they are personable and there's a human to talk to always, but large enough that they are extremely professional. The only reason I left my apartment with them is that I bought a new home. Oxford St is proactive, friendly, timely, and top of anything you ask of them. I would recommend them to literally anybody in the city, and I am sad to leave them. read more

Oxford Street managed our apartment for roughly a year. We told them repeatedly to give us more than a days notice before sending workers, and workers would literally walk into our house (which is breaking and entering, I'm pretty sure) without ours or our landlord's permission. Then one of their associates screamed at us with the utmost disrespect, because we wanted to know when workers were leaving because we left for the specifically to make it easier and wanted to know when we could come home. After multiple conversations stating that the notice they were giving wasn't enough, they continued to show up unannounced. When we spoke to the supervisor about my conversation with his employee, he told us that everything was wrong, and came up with a dozen or so excuses why. Not to mention the work they were doing was to repair the jobs that THEY screwed up. Then to top it off, they terminated their business with our landlord over EMAIL, did not tell us they canceled the work or their business and didn't even have the decency to call. This is literally the worst experience with a group of "professionals" I have ever had and I strongly discourage you from using their services. ----- Responding to Jeff's "response" to my complaint: 1. The amount of rent that we pay has nothing to do with the amount you were paid to manage this property. It is also not your concern. 2. Yes, we did have a dog with severe mental disorders. Normally, we would cage him in our bedroom to avoid issue. However, on that particular occasion we had made arrangements to transport him to our vacation him due to the fact that Oxford Street planned to be there all day with multiple different workers. We only asked for a time when we could return. At which point I was brutally screamed at by one of their associates. All tenants have a legal right to know when people will be in their home and when they will be gone. 3. After terminating their contract with us, which they have every legal right to do, they still gave the key to a worker to enter our home the following day. He then did not knock and walking into our apartment where my female roommate was alone. Essentially, they allowed someone to break and enter our home. And lastly, 5 years later.... Jeff's response to the one star comments is telling that his "integrity" is pretty lackluster. The lady doth protest too much. read more

Every person I have encountered who works here is rude and unprofessional, especially Jackie. If you look at their 5 star reviews, most of them are from seemingly fake accounts. And the company's responses to 1 star reviews is often aggressive and mean. There is no accountability or acceptance of responsibility. Take your business elsewhere. read more

We almost rented from Oxford Street Realty a year ago but pulled out after seeing the "All Lives Matter" and "Blue Lives Matter" signs at their office. Obviously they don't understand the Black Lives Matter movement, but in addition to that we felt that this was a form of discrimination. If I were a person of color, I would not feel comfortable renting from them. We felt that they have these signs at their place of business in order to discourage people of color from renting from them, without technically breaking fair housing laws. read more

But I think it is noteworthy that FIVE of the 5-star reviews on here are from people who have only reviewed one company. Really? You loved Oxford Realty SO MUCH you just had to go start a yelp account so you could review them?? After my poor experience and the follow-up awful conversations with the owner, I just don't buy it...** In response to Jeff I/Oxford Realty's comment on my review (which he has since edited to remove much of his nasty tone and his statement that if I was unhappy I should have pursued legal action): I didn't pursue legal action bc that would have been a ridiculous next step. I felt that representation was less than completely honest. But as I wrote in my review, I did end up with an apartment that I was happy with, and I felt I hadn't been charged any fees illegally. I find it noteworthy that the chosen method of resolution for Oxford Realty is to wait 3.5 years, then post disparaging and false claims on my review. Thereby supporting my initial claims regarding their less-than-stellar business and customer service practices. Now we can add immaturity to the list. And BTW, I didn't come in as a sublettor, the property wasn't on Ashland, I wasn't told anything about the apartment being 'good value,' and Jeff's retelling of the conversation (conversation for which he was not present and retelling which has now been edited) is inaccurate. read more

I had a MUCH different experience with Oxford Street Realty than Smar T and feel compelled to share it. I've only worked with Jackie, who showed me my apartment in '05. I found the listing via craigslist and she was both responsive and attentive in helping me get my application processed and approved. Oxford St then became the management company for my landlord and has taken great care of me ever since. They are available via email and on-call service and respond quickly, even to non-emergencies. She follows up on the actions they took based on my requests and is good about passing along communications between my landlord and me. I'm glad I'm not looking for a new apartment anytime soon, but if I do, I'll turn to Jackie first for assistance. read more

I recently rented an apartment through Oxford Street. The place is also managed, for the owner, by the team there. The thing I've liked about working with them is that there *is* a team: Jackie, Jeff, Tiffany and sometimes Christine. Christine helped me to pick out the apartment, as a some times professional counselor, I found her incredibly "non-salesy" and helpfully consultative. After signing and making a deposit for the apartment, I was sent a hand-written thank you in the mail, an appreciated touch. Jackie and Jeff have been very helpful to me. I've rented from other agencies, specifically Marc Roos in Boston and Apartment Rental Experts in Somerville. I did not write Yelp reviews for either. When you chose an apartment in the Boston area, it's very important you trust the landlord/management company. I've had a few requests and I find the follow-up swift, professional and organized. We rented our apartment through Oxford St Realty and they also manage the unit. In general, the experience has always been pleasant, in their capacity as brokers and property managers. They are personable and quick to respond to issues. As brokers: They did not try to pressure us into getting the apartment. There was nothing about "THIS IS A GREAT DEAL YOU HAVE TO SIGN THE LEASE NOW." Jackie was straightforward, honest, and timely. She was much easier to work with and much less pushy than other brokers. It's nice when brokers come across as relaxed and confident. As managers: They are quick to address any issues with the unit. They do everything through phone instead of email which has taken time to get used to, but when we call, they are very pleasant and efficient in addressing any issues we have. I'd recommend Oxford St to friends. They are a small office, and everybody (Jeff, Jackie, Tiffany) I have interacted with has been great. No complaints on my end! read more

I have to comment too. We've had nothing but good experiences with Jackie and Oxford St., from applying for the apartment to moving in to renting (we've been here 6 months). Jackie is both the broker and the manager for our unit, so we continue to work directly with them, and it's been great. The only possible negative I can think of was one miscommunication during moving in, and it wasn't serious. Things appeared a little disorganized, but since then, the service has been great. We asked for an electrician to make a customization to the wiring - we just wanted an extra outlet - and they got right on it within days! After living the past two years in a rented condo that was managed by a horribly unprofessional firm, having to deal with various brokers who showed my old unit when I left it, and going through five different Cambridge brokers to find our current place, Oxford St. is hands-down the best of the bunch. I've recommended them to friends and will continue to do so 100%. read more

Not even worth the 1 star I gave them. The negative reviews of Oxford St Realty are very much on mark. Both Jeff and Christine are extremely rude and unprofessional, and any interaction with them always left a bad taste in my mouth. I not only rented an apt through them, but they were also managing the apt for the landlord. The apt was rather nice, and I would have liked to stay in it for more than three years, but Oxford St Realty's management of the apt was the main reason I decided to move out, and find another place. Each time there was a maintenance issue with the apt, I had to call Jeff or Christine, and each time I found them extremely rude and nasty. The owner of the apt was really nice, and took good care of the place, but to get to him, I always I had to go through Oxford St Realty. I especially found Jeff to be dishonest, if you use him personally to fix any problem with the apt, keep a good record, save all your correspondence with him, and write down when he came and what he fixed. That is the only way to prevent him from exploiting any situation. On the whole a very unprofessional, and a very unpleasant real estate management company. Need a lesson is professionalism and etiquette. Stay Away!!! read more

Wow, Smar T is tough on them...I loved them. Jackie was a welcome respite from other realtors and agents we used to find an apt in Cambridge. We found a place, by far the best place we saw through them and would not have found it had we used only craigslist to find realtors. Jackie was immediately up front with us about the lead laws, our price range, expectations and the market in a way no other agent or broker had been. So we put our trust in her and she came through. Incidentally, after telling a friend of our pleasant experience, without mentioning the agent, they asked if it was Oxford St, because they had had a similarly good experience. Just a quick review from the other side of the fence. Oxford has been managing my rental property for the past three years now, and I couldn't be happier with them. They rented my property quickly and I haven't had a gap in tenancy since I've worked with them. They take care of everything, not only managing the property but paying my mortgage and condo fee from the rent monies, helped me find good home insurance, find good (reasonable) contractors for repairs and improvements. They're great communicators, keep me informed about what's going on, but don't burden me with chores or unnecessary questions. I have had a couple of issues come up - it happens - which gave Oxford the chance to really shine. And they did! Without going into too much detail, I have been consistently impressed that when trouble appears on the horizon Jackie and Jeff take charge and get the problems solved, and when the mistake is theirs, they take responsibility. I'm not sure how it looks from the renter's perspective - as an owner, I know I still have a lot of control over what goes on in my apartment - but Jackie and Jeff have advocated for tenants to me. They've convinced me to be flexible about pets, for example, when I was reluctant. I would recommend them heartily to anyone looking for a property manager. read more

I rented an apartment through Oxford Realty. I worked with Jackie who is very proffesional ,friendly and efficient . The apartment is also managed by Oxford realty. Jackie made the whole process easy , from following up with the application and delivering an apartment that was move in ready and in excellent condition. There were a couple of things that needed attention while I was there and they were taken care of immediately. And when I had to move , because I needed a bigger place, my son was moving in with me , Jackie went out of her way to help me out, and working with me to find a new tenant. We are currently renting our second apartment through Oxford Street Realty and we are very happy with the quality and professionality of their service. We found Oxford Street two weeks after arriving in Cambridge, and after having several terrible experiences with other agencies. Oxford is to date the only agency in Cambridge we felt completely comfortable giving our money to. The Oxford agents we met were nice to us, friendly, trustworthy and professional. They were not overly pushy and they did not give us the general shady feeling of the average Cambridge realty. What really made the difference for us is that Oxford takes only one application at the time for a given apartment, so that if you like the place you will most likely end up getting it without having to compete with other applicants. After we decided to move from our first place we went straight back to Oxford Street. They showed us an apartment the next day, we loved it, we got it. They took care of having the place deleaded in good time, and we even ended up moving in a couple of days before we planned. Great job! read more

My husband and I were tenants at one of their rental properties outside of Harvard Square for four years and were consistently impressed with their responsiveness, level of professionalism and overall care in maintenance of our apartment. They are proactive in keeping the apartment in good shape - yearly walkthroughs with prompt repairs on anything that is broken or in bad shape, even building an entirely new screened-in porch at our property without us requesting (just as a way to continue to improve the apartment). We never had to chase them down for answers and always felt they appreciated and respected us a good tenants. That goes a long way! I highly recommend. read more

We have lived in an apt managed by Oxford for three years, and have only good things to say. They have been prompt (calling a plumber after hours, fixing the dishwasher within two days), thoughtful (offering to put us in a hotel when the heat went out) and helpful. They de-leaded our apartment when we had a child (it is the law but many landlords/ managment companies try to avoid it) and have generally been very pleasant to work with.
