I do wish I would have worn boots as some sections were muddy. There were a few stands that sold snacks and hot chocolate. We did also go to the inside part. It was very small but the train was nice. We went when the cherry blossoms were beginning to bloom but it was a tad bit early for the other floral arrangements to bloom in their outdoor gardens so it still felt winter-like. We started at one location early in the morning with the Arboretum. That's where you pay $25 to drive your vehicle in. Parking is ample early in the morning but when we left an hour or two later, there was a conga line of vehicles waiting to get in. So, yes you have to be there at least at around 8 AM if you don't want to wait in line or find parking. Parking is free at the main RBG region with their inside greenhouse region plus their outside garden. What I didn't like was that you had to drive out afterwards to go to the Rock Garden where you had to show your tickets again for entrance. Parking was still free though. So, overall, a lot of driving from one location to another (at least three) and a lot of walking. If you want to bring slow-walking seniors, good luck. It's beautiful scenery but a lot of walking involved.

I just found this place, it's really cool, and I wanted to tell someone about it. It's all the way, uh, somewhere, but it's worth your time, I promise! You know peonies right? They're flowers, sometimes they look a bit like a big papery ball? They got tons here. Maybe it's the biggest collection in all of North America! Maybe! Because it's never been independently verified! But they got a lot! This place is really a big garden behind a house, so it's not super big. Arghh! Wait, don't run away dammit! Just listen to me, okay... It's not that big, but it's packed with peonies. You'll see every variety you've dreamt of here! What, you've never dreamt of peonies? Urgg... This place is quite nice as is, but it's still under construction a bit too. I saw a bridge being made, and you can see them still finishing up some areas. So don't expect it to be as nice or as big as the Royal Botanical Gardens. But for the $13 I'd say it's totally worth it, especially if you love peonies... So, are you gonna go? *Looks around* Oh, I'm by myself... Guess they... Left... Uh, go to Whistling Gardens!!!

This attraction doesn't require an appointment, but it is a longer bus ride from the other Niagara Parks attractions, so be sure to plan for that. We used our passes to take the WEGO bus from Niagara Takes Flight to the butterfly conservatory. Rain was in the forecast, so this is a nice, indoor option. The conservatory itself houses so many butterflies, and they tell you upon entry that it is thought to be lucky if a blue one lands on you, so everyone inside is doing their best to attract a blue butterfly. Several landed on us, and while you don't want to move for fear of them flying away, you also want to get your companion's attention to snap that perfect pic! We had lots of fun even though the temperature is kept very warm and the space was crowded. Clearly, everyone had the same rainy-day activity planned. My only complaint comes from when I asked about re-entry. I was told that we could leave the conservatory, but not the building. We wanted to visit the cafe and grab a bite to eat or something to drink and perhaps return once the crowd had thinned out a bit, but that is not permitted. We were told that we could step out to cool down in the gift shop or lobby area and then return through the same entrance that we used when we arrived. The volunteer got on her walkie to tell someone that we'd be coming back in, so I'm not even sure that this is normally permitted. Overall, it was a fun and new experience for us. The staff was kind and the conservatory is beautiful. There's also a botanical garden and at least one beehive there, but we didn't get to explore the outdoor areas due to the rain.

Online ticket purchase helped and we were quickly inside. Although busy we were able to finish the entire round, up and down in less than 30 minutes. Some of the butterflies were unique. They flew in all directions, some so near to us. Other than the butterflies there is nothing else to see or do. We did two rounds and we were still done in under 45 minutes. Wish there was multiple things to see and do or some more history or background for all or some of the butterflies. There are some written things, but not enough.
